Disadvantages of WoodWood options can vary, but all have characteristics that should be considered before making the investment. Pressure treated lumber, like pine, can fade quickly and requires frequent sanding and staining. While it appears to be more affordable upfront, it can actually exceed the cost of a composite deck over time. The price for Redwood and Cedar is growing as environmental conditions, like forest fires, contribute to declining supply. Exotic and tropical woods, like Ipe, contribute to deforestation and are not sustainable.

At TimberTech® we go to extensive lengths to make our products reflect all of the beauty and nuance of nature. Some of our collections include solid colors while others bear subtle to more pronounced highlights to closely resemble the characteristics of real wood. This intended effect is known as color variegation. To achieve this, we use various pigments and stains to replicate the features found in traditional lumber. Some of our collections also have cascading colors, which add a gradual, gradient appearance throughout the length of the board. The degrees of cascading and variegation will vary from board-to-board.

Legacy Collection Designed to reflect the true tones of natural wood, this is our most uniquely variegated line which includes cascading colors. The artisanal, hand-scraped texture has a refined appearance matched with the most advanced design technology available.

Capped Wood Composites

Composite decking capped with a fully protective polymer shell that resists

the elements every deck endures.

Although TimberTech® Deck products are cooler to the touch than many other deck board products, all decking products will get hot in the sun. Additionally, the darker the decking color, the hotter it will feel. For hotter climates, consider choosing a lighter color. While the product is designed to resist fading, no material is fade proof when subjected to years of exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays and the elements.

When considering TimberTech Deck in a rooftop application, it is important that the decking be attached to proper framing that is securely attached to the building and it should not be attached to a floating frame or substructure.
