Nuclear power, like wind, hydro and solar energy, can
generate electricity free of greenhouse gas emissions.
The critical difference is that nuclear energy is the only
option to produce vastly expanded supplies of clean
electricity on a global scale. Today, nuclear energy
provides 16% of the world’s electricity. With sound
public policy, this percentage can grow rapidly and
support global economic prosperity without
greenhouse gases and pollution. Fortunately, the
uranium that fuels nuclear power is available in large
quantities on earth and in sea water. Nuclear
Engineering is an intellectually exciting, dynamic and
expanding eld. A socially important discipline, it
supports a wide range of applications that improve
human health and welfare. Nuclear Engineering
continues to be a growing eld, evolving with the
nuclear industry and national laboratory programs.

engineering streams with technological improvement.
The course has been designed specically keeping the
needs of the nuclear sector in mind. It offers a broad
portfolio of subjects, from reactor theory and
decommissioning, to electrical power, waste disposal,
storage and radiation safety. Each topic is presented in
a short course format which is ideal for employees in the
industry.
Research FocusThe department offers Ph.D programs in all major
Nuclear Engineering disciplines, both full time and part
