Deep-Dek® Composite* is a long-span composite floor system that spans up to 35-feet. The span ability of the system creates open environments, allowing for unobstructed space design.

Deep-Dek® Composite (DDC) combines the structural advantages of a flat plate slab with the time and cost saving advantages of a permanent form. Shallow depth DDC floors weigh less and install quickly. In-place, serviceability demands for non-combustibility, noise reduction, vibration control and durability are satisfied.

n Eliminates filler beams

n Limits shoring requirements

n Saves weight (as compared to cast-in-place systems)

n Provides core drilling flexibility

n Minimizes floor-to-ceiling heights

n Installs without camber or need for leveling coats

Panelized Floor Delivery Method™ (PFDM) takes workers off the frame and places them on the ground in safer, more productive surroundings. PFDM options include pre-assembly of DDC panels or in conjunction with a structural steel beam framework.

Sustainability: DDC provides LEED™ Green Building Rating System credits.

Design Assistance: Specialty Engineer of Record services are provided with Deep-Dek® Composite as a Versa-Floor™ system.

n DekVibe™ is a structural analysis tool used to evaluate the vibration characteristics of any Metal Dek Group® (MDG) composite floor assembly.

n Independent testing confirms that Deep-Dek® Composite conforms to established vibration standards of AISC Steel Design Guide Series Eleven (DG-11): Floor Vibrations Due To Human Activity.

n Contact MDG Dek Design Team for DekVibe assistance. Note: Vibration analysis requires a complete description of support elements, DDC assembly and end use of the occupied space making up the entire structural bay under consideration.

(1) Designs assume deck panels installed as single sheets spanning support-to-support (not continuous over support). Contact MDG Dek Design Team (DDT) for design assistance of continuous deck span applications.

(2) Construction (non-composite) phase design per ANSI/SDI C1.0-2006. Superimposed construction phase loading: uniform 20 PSF or concentrated 150 LB/FT of deck width.

(3) When required, line shoring shall be placed at mid-span of deck sheets. Shoring beam width = 4 in. minimum.(4) Deck supplied with stiffened factory closed ends. Minimum end bearing width = 2 in. Deck sections requiring field

cut ends (e.g. skew cuts, etc.) shall be reviewed by MDG-DDT and reinforced if required. Contact MDG-DDT for design assistance.

(5a) Single Span Slab design: Concrete compressive strength, f’c = 4000 PSI. Provide slab reinforcement for control crack over supports. Contact MDG-DDT for design assistance.

(5b) Two (2) Span Continuous Slab design: Concrete, f’c = 4000 PSI. Spans shall be approximately equal length with the larger of the two adjacent spans not greater than the shorter by more than 20% (per ACI 318-02/ 8.3.3b). Minimum negative bending reinforcement (ASTM A615 Gr60) shall be provided for slab continuity as noted. Install top of bars 3/4 in. below top of slab.

(5c) Same as Note 5b except: Concrete f’c = 5000 PSI (per ACI 318-08/ 4.2.2. Install top of No. 5 bars 1-1/2 in. below top of slab; No. 6 bars 2 in. below. (per ACI 318-02/ 7.7.1). Note 5c specifically applies to Parking Structures. Special consideration shall be given to the influence of environmental conditions on system performance. Con-siderations include minimizing surface crack widths over supports, placement of control joints, concrete & rebar surface coatings and concrete admixtures. The longevity of the deck surfaces shall be determined by Versa-Steel

factory applied coatings. Contact MDG-DDT for design assistance.(5d) Three (3) Span Continuous Slab design: Concrete, f’c = 4000 PSI. Note 5d specifically applies to Light Ware-

house / Wholesale Stores. Spans shall be approximately equal length with the larger of the two adjacent spans not greater than the shorter by more than 20% (per ACI 318-02/ 8.3.3b). Minimum negative bending reinforcement shall be provided for slab continuity as noted. Install top of bars 3/4 in. below top of slab.

(6) Designs based on application of concentrated (Pt.) load or uniform LL + uniform superimposed DL resulting in greatest effect (per IBC06 1607.10). Concentrated loads (per IBC 2006 Table 1607.1) applied per IBC 2006 1607.4 and analyzed per SDI Composite Deck Design Handbook 1997.

(7) Service stage slab designs are based on these limit states: Deck yielding, concrete failure, shear-bond, instanta-neous deflection and negative bending capacity (where applicable).

(8) Service stage superimposed load deflection limits: L/240 total load and L/360 live load only (per IBC 2006 Table 1604.3).

(9) Slab reinforcement with compression steel may be required to meet long-term deflection (LTD) service limits. Designs requiring LTD reinforcement noted above. Contact MDG DDT for design assistance.

(10) Temperature/shrinkage slab reinforcement, full field: Welded wire fabric (WWF) or equivalent fiber reinforced concrete (per ANSI/SDI C1.0-2006).

(11) Protected composite slab assembly per UL D501 & ULc D501.(12) Unprotected composite slab assembly per UL D951 & ULc F914.
