Day 3London city tourIn the morning head out for a panoramic tour of the city. Visit Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Regent Street, Oxford Street, and more. See the Albert Memorial, Royal Albert Hall, Big Ben, Parliament and the London Eye.Next travel past the Tower of London; a medieval fortress built in the year 1078 by William the Conqueror, before returning back to the hotel where you can spend the rest of the day however you like. Day 4London – Windsor CastleIn the morning take an excursion to the famous Windsor Castle, fortress of English kings & queens since the 14th century. From here, see the famous Eton College founded by King Henry VI, one of the most exclusive and traditional schools in the country. Day 5London – Cambridge & York city tourAfter breakfast you’re off to Cambridge where you’ll part in a panoramic tour through this small city. Day 6York – Durham – EdinburghYou’ll have this morning free to explore York on your own. After, you’ll begin your journey towards Durham, where the orientation tour will take you to the market square and World Heritage Sites, Noman castle and Romanesque cathedral. Before you arrive in Edinburgh, take in the ancient Hadrian’s Wall, built in 122AD as a defensive fortification of the Roman province, Britannia. Once you reach Edinburgh, with its beautiful hills and majestic castle from the Middle Ages, you’ll have the rest of the day to relax or explore the city. Day 8Edinburgh – St Andrews – AviemoreThis morning depart for the Scottich Highlands with its castles, islands and legendary lakes. Many of the symbols that make up the Scottish idiosyncrasy, such as the skirt, tartan plaid, bagpipes and feather cap, come from this mountainous region. Stop in the city of St Andrews and enjoy a brief tour to discover the ruins of what was the largest cathedral in the country. See the birthplace of golf, with the Royal Ancient Golf Club before continuing to Dundee to see the Glamis Castle’s imposing architecture and decoration. Day 9Aviemore – InvernessAfter breakfast you’re on your way to Inverness to see the Clava Cairns, a prehistoric monument and Bronze Age cemetery. Day 10Aviemore – Glasgow After breakfast this morning depart for Glasgow by the Great Glen crossing Fort Augustus. Pass through the Commander Monument, a military force created by Winston Churchill to infiltrate enemy territory. Afterwards see Stirling Castle, declared a National Monument that was built on top of a hill and is surrounded on three sides by cliffs cut to peak. Most of the main buildings date back to the 15th and 16th centuries and the outer defences facing the city date back to the early 18th century. Day 16Dublin – St. Patrick’s Cathedral – GalwayEnjoy a traditional Irish breakfast this morning before going on a half-day guided tour of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the largest of the two cathedrals in Ireland. Take in the ivy-covered stone buildings of Trinity College to see the Old Library’s vast rows of antiquarian books. Afterwards pass Dublin Castles, before continuing your journey to Galway via the monastic site of Clonmacnoise Abbey. With more than eight centuries since its foundation, Galway owes its name to the bed of stones of the Corrib, the river that crosses it. Tour Guide vs Tour LeaderTour Guide:Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group. Tour Leader:An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined.Please Note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all NRMA travel offers. Coach tourMeals:Daily buffet breakfast is included in the tour, for all other meals; lunches and dinners the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. You can also enquire about any allergies and food and if necessary advise meals to be to be prepared with any medication you require.Luggage:You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on the tour. With regards to luggage, you must carry your own luggage from the coach to the hotel room and back to the coach. The driver will assist with the uploading and offloading of their luggage from the coach.
