Smart Birds

Everyone knows that birds like to eat seeds and grain. Birds also like to eat little stones called gravel. Birds have to eat the gravel because they don’t have teeth to grind their food. The gravel stays in the bird’s stomach. When the bird eats seed, the gravel and the seed grind together. All of the seed is mashed up.

Tame birds must be given gravel. Wild birds find their own gravel in the road sides.
