    In this dialogue, you will hear a conversation between Laura and Mike. They areplanning a trip to Seattle, and are on the Internet trying to schedule their flight andhotel. Listen to the dialogue. Afterward, you will hear a set of vocabulary terms

    used in the dialogue with their English translations. This will be followed by asentence in which the word appears in context. Try to understand as much as youcan of the example sentences based on the context.

    A Laura: Were going to plan our trip today, arent we?

    B Mike: Yes. Were going to Seattle by plane.

    C Laura: How long are we going for?

    D Mike: A week.

    L Mike: Lets see...do we want flight, hotel, and car or only flight?

    M Laura: Only flight. We can look for a hotel later, and we dont need a car.

    N Mike: So Chicago to Seattle, only flight Do we want to go from

    O Laura: Lets go from Midway. Its closer to our house. OHare is

    Q Laura: What are they?

    R Mike: Lets look at the trip down first.

    S Laura: Ok. Start with the trip down.

    T Mike: There are two options. One is to go from Midway to Atlanta, then

    to Denver and finally to Seattle.

    U Laura: Two layovers for that one.

    V Mike: Yeah. Two layovers.

    W Laura: And the other option?

    X Mike: The second option is to go from Midway to Newark, New Jersey, and

    from there direct to Seattle

    Y Laura: So....one layover.

    Z Mike: Right. One.AA Laura: In that case, I prefer Midway to Newark and finishing in Seattle, I dont

    like layovers. How much is it?

    AB Mike: It costs $389 per person.

    AC Laura: Hmmmmmmmmm.....Ok....Thats not bad. Lets take it.

    AD Mike: Sounds good to me. Do you want to look at the return trip now?

    AE Laura: Yes. Lets look at the return trip.

    AF Mike: Hmmmmmm.....

    AG Laura: What a pain! There are so many options!

    AH Mike: I know.

    AI Laura: Heres one. It leaves Seattle on the 30th via Salt Lake, then

    Houston and finally Chicago (Midway). Its a lot of travel time, though.Isnt there something better?

    AJ Mike: I dont know. Let me look. Heres one that goes from Seattle

    to Minneapolis and ends in Midway. Its really expensive, though.

    $612 a person!

    AK Laura: I know, but I dont like the other options. Why dont we spend a little

    bit more money to be a lot more relaxed while were on vacation?.

    AL Mike: OK. Now we have to choose the seats.

    AM Laura: Right. Do you want aisle or window?

    AN Mike: I prefer the window. I like to look out.

    HOTEL - Disk 10

    Laura and Mike have successfully traveled to Seattle, and are just about to check intotheir hotel, the Westin. They begin this scene in a taxi from the airport, headingtowards the hotel. Listen to the following dialogue. After you hear the dialogue, youwill hear a number of vocabulary terms, first translated, and then in context. Try tounderstand as much as you can of the example sentences based on context.

    A Laura: What a long taxi ride from the airport! Are we almost there?

    B Mike: Yes....were just about to arrive.

    Voiceover: Laura and Mike take their luggage to their room. After gettingcomfortable, they look at the hotel amenities sheet.

    Laura and Mike have been in Puerto Vallarta for one day now, and decide to go to alocal open-air market, which has both produce and handicrafts. Listen to thefollowing dialogue. After you hear the dialogue, you will hear a number ofvocabulary terms, first translated, and then in context. Try to understand as muchas you can of the example sentences based on context.

    It is nearing the end of Laura and Mikes second day in Seattle. They have beenshopping at the open-air market and surrounding shops for a couple of hours. Mikeasks if they can sit down for a little bit because hes not feeling very well. Laurareveals that she feels a bit sick to the stomach as well. Listen as they decide what todo next. They ask the receptionist for directions.The directions they receive are confusing, however, and it takes them a little bit toget there.
