Unit 1 Introduction History of Computer - The computer began in 19th century by

Charles Babbage English mathematics professor.

- To be able to classified the computer for three

generations.

- First generation: 1937 – 1946

- In 1937 computer was built by

Dr. John V. Atanasoff and Clifford

Berry.

- It was built for the military.

-Computers used transistors

instead of vacuum tubes which

were more reliable.

- Used computer for commercial.

languages were developed.

- The invention of integrated circuit.

- Computers became smaller, more

powerful more reliable and they are able to

run many different programs at the same

time.

- In1980 Microsoft Disk Operating System

(MS-Dos) was born.

- In 1981 IBM introduced the personal

computer (PC) for home and office use.

- Three years later Apple gave us the

Macintosh computer with its icon driven

interface and the 90s gave us Windows

operating system.

Unit 1 Introduction Icon

Icon is a small graphical representation of a program or file.

They are used with Graphical User Interface (GUI)

Operating Systems. When you double-click or open an

icon, the associated file or program will be opened. For

example; if you were to double-click on the My Computer

icon, it would open Windows Explorer and double-clicking

a document or file icon would open that document in the

associated program.

There are many situations to speak for expressing opinions e.g. Personal Point of View, General Point of View, Agreeing with an opinion and Disagreeing with an opinion. After speak these words or phrases so, speak as construction of language:
