IntroductionExciting, engaging and tons of fun are just a few ways to describe our Junior programmes. We want all our students to improve their English skills and leave with lasting memories and friendships. We provide a safe haven for students to learn and explore different cultures whilst having a blast.

With over 20 years’ experience in running language courses for juniors, we are now one of the top providers in the UK. With a fully-inclusive programme of on-site activities, highlights include local visits, coach excursions, discos and talent shows. We pride ourselves on delivering carefully designed programmes set in a secure and engaging environment where students can study, socialise and be creative.

The safety and welfare of our students is paramount in all we do. By following guidelines set down by the British Council and English UK, our student focused team ensure that all our programmes are run in carefully selected colleges by highly experienced staff.

We are founder members of Young Learners English UK (YLEUK), a Specialist Interest Group for accredited providers of quality English Language course for Young Learners aged 7-17 years.

Springtime has become a very popular period for

junior groups to study in the UK. With over 3,000

students travelling with us each spring, UIC is the

leading provider of junior English programmes in

the UK at this time of year. Not only can students

visit the UK through one of our competitive English

language programmes (the British English Olympics,

the World English Experience and the Masters), they

can also follow a residential and homestay standard

programme.

Unique learning experience!Studying abroad as part of a residential programme

is a special learning experience. Our students travel

from all around the world to attend our schools and

every class is a unique mix of students from different

countries and backgrounds.

Unique learning materials!All teaching and learning materials for our standard

young learner and teenage courses are designed

in-house by our Oxford International academic team.

We have over five years’ experience of designing and

producing our own teaching and learning materials

which are uniquely tailored to meet the needs of our

students and programmes.

The content and design of the materials is informed

by student and teacher focus groups to ensure

that the coursebooks are fresh and relevant to the

students’ needs.

Every student receives an Oxford International

coursebook with all learning materials for their

language course. The materials encourage

students to keep a clear record of their learning and

achievements which they will feel proud to present to

their parents and teachers when they return home.

Unique mix of lessons!Teenage students need variety. They are interested

in a wide range of topics which are relevant to their

lives, interests and development. Our aim is to

provide engaging and encouraging lessons for our

students so that they feel more confident in their

ability to study and use English at the end of their

study programme.

Our lessons are divided into two categories:

Language Study and Language for Life.

Language Study focuses on the building blocks

of the English language and, more importantly, on

how these building blocks are used to communicate

effectively. Language Study aims to build students’

communicative competence by refreshing the

knowledge they have, enlarging their vocabulary

and putting it into practice in realistic and engaging

activities.

Language for Life is an exciting new addition to

our study materials. English is not just a language

which will be important for students in the future. It is

a language which is relevant and important to many

students in their countries and education context

right now. Language for Life lessons integrate a

varied range of topics ranging from study and work

skills, numeracy, citizenship, cultural and cross-

cultural awareness to creative skills depending on

the students’ level and abilities.

Motivating LearnersOur teachers deliver relevant and engaging lessons

which challenge students in a supportive way. Our

aim is to raise the students’ confidence so that they

will feel more motivated, more inspired to engage

with their language studies at home.

Challenging learners at all levelsAll students sit a written and oral placement test on

their first day to ensure they are placed correctly in

challenging classes appropriate to their level. The

placement tests are designed together with the

materials to ensure that the results are accurate in

the context of our syllabus.

The Oxford International teen syllabus is

available on six levels:

New for 2016! - City explorerMaking the most of their central locations, our city

explorer programmes see students visiting their

surrounding attractions throughout the week. In the

Our StaffOur staff are accustomed to helping people

from different backgrounds and cultures and are

experienced in dealing with a wide range of personal

or study-related issues, from problems with stress,

depression to exam anxiety.

Risk AssessmentsOur activity and excursion programme is carefully

planned out ensuring the student’s safety is of

upmost importance. To ensure this is the case,

not only are all activities and excursions fully

risk assessed, we also have a library of the risk

assessments for the attractions we visit in every city.

Measures we take to ensure juniors are taken care of after their arrival & throughout their course:

ཀྵ Named staff who students can speak to if they

have any problems

ཀྵ Personalised student ID card provided on arrival,

which contains the school’s 24-hour emergency

telephone number

ཀྵ Junior students asked to sign in at Reception on

ཀྵ Curfew times for host family accommodation

ཀྵ Emergency next of kin contact details held by

staff all times with the out of hours phone – so we

can always reach parents in case of urgency

ཀྵ Social programme activities are always

supervised by a member of our staff

ཀྵ Students explained UK laws & school rules

relevant to their age group

ཀྵ Advice given on arrival about personal, road &

transport safety

ArrivalAll students under the age of 18 are met by a

member of staff – who will be highly visible in our

bright red branded t-shirts and carrying a clearly

displayed red clipboard. They will ensure everything

goes smoothly at the airport and during the transfer

to their centre. At this point students are given an ID

card with 24 hour emergency contact information –

for their safety and so that they can be immediately

identified as an our Junior student they should keep

this with them at all times.

Medical And General InsuranceIn Britain, free medical treatment is available through

the National Health Service to all EU students and

students from countries with reciprocal health

agreements. Students who are not covered by

the National Health Service are advised to take

out medical insurance before leaving their home

countries. We strongly advise students to take out

individual personal insurance to cover personal

belongings, etc, before they come to the UK. In

addition, in case of any medical matters arising, all

centres have staff members trained in First Aid, and

all centres have a first aid kit on site, as well as close

links with local doctors, dentists and hospitals.
