since WW2.

The Second World WarNeville Chamberlain tried to prevent war through

the policy of Appeasement.

Hitler broke the Munich Agreement (by invading Czechoslovakia, which he had promised not to do it Britain agreed he could take the Sudetenland)

At the end of the war the true nature of the Holocaust was discovered.

Over 60 million people were killed during the Second World War (including from war-related disease and famine)

The American Civil WarFought between the Northern and Southern states of America 1861-1865

Ostensibly about the abolition of slavery (although there were many other political reasons aswell)

Over 600,000 soldiers were killed (this figure does not include civilian casualties)

This is more than the total American soldiers killed in the First and Second World Wars combined.

Slavery was abolished but it was another 100 years before the Civil Rights Movement achieved anything like racial equality in the USA.

The Iraq WarThe USA and its allies (including the UK) invaded Iraq in

2003, claiming that Saddam Hussein's regime had 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' that threatened the Western world. Additionally, he was seen as a dictator who abused his own people.Over 100,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed since the start of the war.

Around 5,000 military personnel have been killed since the start ofthe war.

No evidence of Iraq's WMD has been found.

Iraq now suffers secular and ethnic terrorism.
