Enhancing the Integrity and Uptime of your Drilling Operation
add energy have worked with Stena Drilling since 2007 to help enhance safety,
uptime and integrity of all 6 assets within their fleet. Below is a timeline overview,
highlighting the work that we have done for Stena.
A Proven Track Record Optimising Stena Drilling’s rig productivity and integrity
“On behalf of Stena Drilling may I thank you and your excellent team for the effort put into our recent maintenance reviews and stock criticality reviews.
Having used the services of Add Energy over a number of years we have seen great results and a continuous improvement in our equipment reliability and availability , which has helped Stena Drilling to become one of the world’s leading drilling contractors. The annual maintenance reviews pay for themselves year on year and are a valuable tool in our arsenal when aiming for zero downtime.
The stock criticality review highlighted to us where we were exposed to possible downtime due to lead times on spares, but also highlighted where our minimum stock level was set too high for some equipment spares.
Often the results of well planned maintenance activities or day-to-day running of the stores go unnoticed but by using the knowledge and experience of Add Energy we have continued to improve year of year and look forward to working with Add Energy in the future.”

Client Testimonial
add energy implemented a robust maintenance strategy by analysing failure to determine how to
mitigate against the causes and effects of failure. This study;
Optimised asset safety by ensuring all SCE’s are properly maintained
Maintained a high safety integrity culture
Improved operational uptime by ensuring all operational critical equipment is being maintained
at an optimal level
Enhanced cost benefits through improved uptime
A Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) Study Equipment specific assessment examining processes and sequencing of events to assess actual and potential risk, failure, and points of vulnerability and prioritizes areas for improvement
add energy reviewed this policy document to provide guidance on
the application of critical spares management, focusing on specific
spares used for the maintenance operations on critical equipment.
Benefits:
Enables the installations to be maintained at an optimal level
Allows only recommended spares from OEM documents to be
purchased
Establishes processes on how to select appropriate suppliers
Enhances the stock management system to ensure the critical
spares holding is optimal
Reduces the effects of high impact equipment failure

Spares Strategies & Procedures
add energy conducts an annual historical maintenance review using
our bespoke software solution tool: Look-C. The tool engages in a
statistical analysis of the clients CMMS to assess equipment
performance, from this, conclusions are made, equipment failure
trends are identified and recommendations for improvement are
provided. This review:
Reduces equipment downtime
Identifies bad actors
Establishes reasons for failure
Enhances equipment availability
Enables costs saving solutions to be established through
optimised maintenance routines
Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)ReviewAn annual reliability analysis of each asset in the entire fleet to assess equipment performance, by equipment type and system to establish bad actors and focus synergies to prevent failure reoccurrence and optimise maintenance
add energy engages in a spares criticality review to reduce equipment
downtime through immediate access to critical spares. The review
compares existing equipment criticalities, spares criticalities, rig stock
classification, the safety case and the spares strategy against existing
industry best practice. Doing this;
Ensures that safety critical spares are always at hand, on demand
Reduces equipment downtime through reduced maintenance hours
Identifies obsolescence
Allows best practice standards to be achieved
Provides recommendations for improvement of your spares holding
Spares Criticality Review
An annual review of the fleets spares criticality coding for safety critical equipment, based on the client’s spares holding philosophy
add energy developed a KPI analysing tool for Stena Drilling,
the tool incorporated key performance indicators that assessed
maintenance and reliability performance of their entire fleet. The
tool was delivered as a programmed excel spreadsheet that
produces a graphical output and traffic light signals when
conjoined with the CMMS.
Benefits:
Allows clients to understand how well they are really
performing
Ensures Asset Management objectives are achieved
Enables asset performance to be continually improved
Analysis of Key Performance Indicators Exposing key performance areas critical to the safety and operation of the client’s asset that need to be focused on to enforce a culture continuous improvement
This project reviewed equipment criticality, defined
maintenance activity type codes for maintenance
tasks, performed maintenance criticality optimisation
and assigned maintenance criticality coding to the
maintenance tasks
Benefits
Full asset Compliance Integrity against the
safety case ensuring SCE’s are fully maintained
and assurance values measured and achieved
Optimised Planning Tolerances to ensure
Essential maintenance tasks are prioritised
Gaps are identified and addressed
Maintenance Task Criticality and Compliance Review An analysis of the entire fleets maintenance activities
