Ensemble Concert
Thank you for attending the LHS Vocal Ensemble Concert! This spring concert
showcases the six vocal ensembles at Lincoln High School. Participation in each en-
semble is by audition in the spring of the previous school year. Ensemble members
must also be in a large choir (Girls Chorale, Cadet Choir, or Concert Choir). Each
ensemble rehearses for 25 minutes a day during the lunch periods. For most stu-
dents, this means giving up a study hall, and some juniors and seniors give up half
of their open lunch.
Program Order
Combined Ensembles is comprised of all ensemble groups listed below. They all will open the
program with the following song:
Star Spangled Banner Francis Scott Key
Bel Canto is comprised of 10th through 12th grade women. Bel canto is an Italian phrase
which means “beautiful voice.”
Canto Fratelli is comprised of 9th through 12th grade men. Canto Fratelli is a Latin phrase
which means “singing brothers.”
Sotto Voce is comprised of 10th through 12th grade women. Sotto Voce is an Italian phrase
which means “in a subdued voice.”
Cliff Avenue Singers is a mixed ensemble comprised of 10th through 12th grade students.
Cantare is comprised of 9th grade women. Cantare is a Latin word which means “to sing.”
Chamber Choir is a mixed ensemble comprised of 11th through 12th grade students. These
students are all members of Concert Choir.
