To provide the best FMD experience possible for our customers, all VDI Remote Users will be required to upgrade their VMware View Client to the latest version.

This document outlines the steps that are required for all Remote Users connecting to a Windows 7 VDI desktop using the VMware View Client. All VDI remote users will be required to upgrade their VMware View Clients to latest version. The following versions are required:

VMware Horizon View Client for Windows 7, 8 and 10 - Version 4.7.0 VMware Horizon View Client for OS X, MacOS - Version 4.7.0 VMware Horizon View Client for iOS – Version 4.7.0

VMware View Client for Mac Please use the following steps when upgrading your Mac to the latest version of the VMware View Client.

1. Browse to: https://my.vmware.com/en/web/vmware/info/slug/desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_horizon_clients/4_0#win64

2. Click on Go To Downloads under the VMware Horizon Client for Mac heading

3. Click Download. (By default, the latest version will be selected)

4. Once the download has completed, open a Finder window and navigate to the Applications

folder. Select the VMware View Client and drag it to the trash can as indicated below.

5. Next, in the Finder window, navigate to the folder the new version of the View Client was downloaded to and double click the file to launch it.

6. After the installer launches, click Agree to accept the license agreement.

7. After license agreement acceptance, a new window will open. Drag the VMware View Client to the Application folder shortcut in the window to install it. If you are unable to drag the file to the Applications folder you can also copy and paste it. NOTE: Depending on the version of OS X / MacOS and personal settings there may be no visual or audible indication that the install is complete.

8. Depending on what version you are upgrading from, you may be prompted to upgrade printing components. Click Upgrade and if prompted, enter your password.

9. When the client opens, in the menu bar at the top, select VMware Horizon Client > Preferences.

10. In the preferences window, click on Security then select Do not verify server identity certificates.

11. The new version is now ready to use and can be launched from the Applications folder. 12. After the Horizon View Client is launched, to add the new remote server click the + in the upper

left corner of the app. Enter fmd.bjc.org in the Connection Server field and then click Connect. Upon successful connection the server will be saved.

VMware Horizon View Client for Windows Please use the following steps when upgrading your Windows device to the latest version of the VMware View Client.

1. Browse to: https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/info/slug/desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_horizon_clients/4_0

2. Select the VMware Horizon View Client for Windows as indicated below. Please do not select

VMware Horizon View Client for Windows with Local Mode as this is unsupported in the BJC environment. If you are unsure if you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows, please see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218

3. By default, the latest version will already be selected, click Download.

4. Once the download has completed, navigate to the folder the new version of the View Client was downloaded to and launch it. In in Windows 7/8/10 right-click the file and select Run as Administrator. Please note, the download location will vary depending on the browser used and personal settings.

5. When the installer launches, click Customize Installation.

6. In the customization window, uncheck Log in as current user and uncheck Virtualization pack for Skype for business. Click Agree & Continue.

7. Wait for install to complete.

8. Click Finish.

9. You will be prompted to restart to apply configuration changes. This is not require for connecting to a VDI desktop, however, not all functionality will work until the PC has been restarted.

10. Launch the Horizon View Client from the Start Menu. In the upper right corner, click on the 3 horizontal bars to open the dropdown menu.

11. Select Configure SSL and in the window that opens, select Do not verify server identity certificates. Click OK.

12. Click New Server in the upper left corner and the new connection windows will open.

13. Enter fmd.bjc.org in the Connection Server field then click Connect.

14. Upon successful connection, you will first be prompted for RSA authentication. Enter your user ID and RSA passcode.

15. Upon successful RSA authentication you will be prompted to enter your password. If this is your first time connecting, you will also need to select BJC-NT from the domain dropdown list.

16. After successful authentication you will be presented with a list of desktop pools you have access to. Double-click the pool you want to access to launch it.

VMWARE View Client for iPad Please use the following steps when upgrading your iPad to the latest version of the VMware View Client.

1. If the VMware Horizon View Client for iPad is already installed, open the App Store and select Updates.

2. If the latest version is not already installed an update will be available, select Install to update the application. All settings will be retained and the upgraded version will be ready for use immediately after the update completes.
