Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

If IBM i alerts don’t arrive into the Enterprise Console as expected, please check the below:

Enterprise Console• Ensure that the device on which the Enterprise Console is installed has a static IP Address.

• Check IBM i Device is named correctly in the Device Manager (it must be the same as the actual IBM isystem name) and that it has the correct IP Address assigned.

• Ensure that all IBM i devices IP addresses are added in Device Manager

• Are there any Firewall restrictions between the IBM i and the PC?

Port 15000 (+1 for each additional environment on the same partition to which you want to connect) fromthe Enterprise Console to the IBM i must be open.

• Is the Windows XP Firewall activated?

If so, either turn it off or add the Port exceptions as above.

• Ensure the Default Filter is not held. (Check this in Start | Programs | Halcyon Applications | EnterpriseConsole | Server Options | Filters).

• Ensure that the IBM i connections are defined correctly. (Check this in Start | Programs | HalcyonApplications | Enterprise Console | Server Options | General). Port 15000 (+1 for each additionalenvironment) must be enabled.

Note: When the issue has been resolved, remember to Delete the Test Rule. See Deleting the test rule.

Power/System i:• Check that Configuration - Work with Remote Locations has an entry for the Enterprise Console device,

ensuring that the Enterprise Console Device IP Address, Port (15000), Name and Description detailsare all present and correct.

• Ensure that the Halcyon monitors are started.

Re-test. If there is still no alert then:

1. Turn on the logging in Enterprise Console Server Options (Start | Programs | Halcyon Applications |Enterprise Console | Server Options | General) and add Log Informational Messages, Log UserCommands, Log Diagnostic Messages and Log Incoming Alert Data.

2. Send another test alert into the Enterprise Console.

3. Email the HEC.log file (from %Program Files%\Halcyon\Enterprise Console\Server.log to [email protected].

Note: When the issue has been resolved, remember to Delete the Test Rule. See Deleting the test rule.
