Henderson TrioCraig Henderson is a 22 year-old

singer/pianist from Victoria, B.C. He

fronts his jazz trio, accompanied by his

first jazz piano teacher, Bill Kent, on the

bass, and his father Gordon Henderson

on the guitar.

They perform music reflected by the songs of timeless artists such as

Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and others who

have shared the same love of the Great American Songbook.

Susan CornerUniversity Club, Members’ Lounge

January 2018

A graduate of the University of Victoria Visual Arts Department in

1979, Susan returned to painting after a 15-year hiatus in 1996. For the

past 21 years, Susan has worked with and exhibited with the Phyllis

Serota Studio Group. Susan received a Jury’s Choice Honorable

Mention from the Sooke Fine Art Show in August 2005 for her

painting, Skyward.

“I have been attracted to the idea of capturing a moment in time – a

moment when the sun breaks through behind the clouds or a sky

darkens with the threat of an oncoming storm. At the core of all my

landscapes and seascapes is a desire to create a sense of place at an

emotional level.”

Susan has exhibited her work in both group and individual shows

since 2000. Her work is represented in the British Columbia

Government House Foundation collection and private collections in

Canada, United States and England.

UVic Affiliations

A proud UVic alumna, Susan Corner is the Director of Academic

Advising and International Student Services at the University of

Victoria. Susan has worked in Student Affairs since 1997 when she

joined UVic to coordinate the university’s orientation program. In

addition to an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts, Susan has a

Certificate in Public Relations from Continuing Studies and a Masters

of Arts in Curriculum Studies, with a research interest in student

engagement. As a UVic student, Susan worked for the Maltwood Art

Museum and Gallery, the McPherson Library, Continuing Studies, and

the UVSS. Susan also worked as a research assistant in the

Department of Psychology and in the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
