Book of the Dead — Feast of All Souls As has become our tradition at St. Charles, we will be displaying

the “Book of the Dead” in the area of the Holy Family Shrine of

church during the month of November. You will be invited to

inscribe in the book (which will be available the weekend of

November 1) names of any and all deceased loved ones you wish

others to remember in prayer. The commemoration of All Souls

is Monday, November 2nd. As in years past, we provide an

opportunity for relatives and friends of those St. Charles

parishioners who have died in the past year to gather and

remember. We extend a particular invitation to family and loved

ones of those deceased individuals to join us on Monday,

November 2nd at 7:00pm in the church for what has become a

very meaningful time of prayer for the living who are in mourn-

ing. All parishioners are welcome and encouraged to attend

this celebration of remembrance.

A big thank you to all who came out for the Knights of

Columbus Open House. If you are interested in joining

the St. Charles Knights of Columbus Council but were

unable to attend the open house, please contact Tom

Armstrong ([email protected]) or

Father Janoch for more information. Still on the fence

abouo joining the Knights of Columbus? Do you think

you don’t have enough time or that the crazy hectic

family schedule does not allow for it? Take it from a

father of three angels under the age of six, if I have the

time, you probably have the time to help your parish

family and community by joining. Many of our

community events include our families. My children

marched in the 4th of July parade as well as passed out

empty baby bottles for the Womankind Maternal and

Prenatal Care Center fundraiser. What better way is there

for a father to teach Catholic values to his children by

participating in volunteer work and including them?

LEAF MINISTRY

Listening, Encouraging, and Assisting Families

Do you have families in your parish, who, because of the

incarceration of a loved one, experience isolation, shame,

guilt, and an overwhelming sense of being alone? The LEAF

Ministry has been formed to be of support to these families.

Groups meet monthly offering an opportunity to those who

come to listen and share community, network and learn from

others who understand their situation, challenges, fears and

emotions. All are welcome to participate irrespective of faith

affiliation. For more information and to verify the

schedules, please call one of the following parishes and visit

the website: www.leafministry.org No pre-registration is

necessary.

It is our intention to continue to form additional groups in the

various areas of the diocese. If you are interested in beginning a

group or want more information, call Sister Rita Mary, SND at
