Though he remained chair of the board,Hawkins transitioned from EA in 1991 to form3DO, a video game console company. 3DOwas formed in partnership with several othercompanies including EA. Upon its release in1993, the 3DO was the most powerful video

game console at the time. It was also themost expensive, costing a hefty USD$700,compared to the low $100's of other systems.Sales were poor and hopes for the system

were smashed in 1994 with the arrival of theSonyPlayStation, which beat the 3DO inprice.

When I first saw a computer, I knew, thiswas the answer for me, says Hawkins.

I was going to be able to make real life in a boxand expose the kind of games I wanted to playto the public." He knew what he wanted to doearly on in life, and he took all the necessarysteps to get there. From working and learningfrom others, to trying his hand at three differentcompanies, Hawkins has made a name for

himself in all of the video game, console, andmobile industries. How did a young boy who justwanted to play games go on to become amillionaire?
