The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health is a great fit for students who love science and are passionate about using their scientific skills to address human health issues related to the built and natural environments. From water quality to workplace safety, environmental health majors are engaged in problem solving to keep communities safe and healthy. The coursework introduces students to basic principles of environmental health regulation, environmental sampling, microbiology, epidemiology, toxicology and risk assessment. Students choose one of three interest areas: biomedical sciences, health & environmental sciences, or environmental public health practice. The program is one of only 31 in the U.S. accredited by the National Environmental Health Science & Protection Accreditation Council. Environmental Health Major Admission Applications are due on the 3rd Friday of each quarter. Students are selected based on overall grades; performance in math, science, and composition courses; and understanding of and potential fit with the major as demonstrated in the personal statement. Application instructions and forms are available on department website. Applicants must complete the following by the deadline for admission consideration: A. Early Admission (freshmen or sophomore year, with fewer than 6 quarters and 90 credits) Complete the following classes with a 2.0 minimum and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0: • ENGL 131 Composition or equivalent • MATH 124 Calculus I • CHEM 142, 152, 162 General Chemistry with labs B.
