introduction• Malaysia is a one of the famous country in the world

which has a good economic and development but Malaysia is bad in terms of environment.

• Gross domestic product, Malaysia ranks 12th.• Environmental performance index, Malaysia ranks

28th in 2008 but we are not in the top 30th in 2010.• The creation of the environmental policy is

important to guide public to love the environment and to prevent and control any problems that may lead to the damage of environment.

History of environmental policy• In the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in

Stockholm in 1972, malaysia had introduced its first ever environmental policy directives, ambarked on by the Third Malaysia Five-Year Plan, enacted the Environmental Quality Act in 1974 and established the Department of Environment in 1975.

• During the era of the First Outline Perspective Plan, Malaysia had no specific environmental policy, but during the era of the Second Outline Perspective Plan that Malaysia introduced an environmental policy known as the National Policy on the Environment.

• This Policy was approved by the cabinet ministers on October 2002 and provided guidance for environment and natural resource management under the Seventh Malaysia Plan onwards.

2) Environmental Awareness Campaign 2007 (Department of Environment, Ministry of Natural

Resources and Environment) • In Selangor, Environmental Awareness Campaign have been triggered by Dato’

Seri Azmi Bin Khalid, Minister Of Natural Resources And Environment and it was approved by the Chief Minister of Selangor during his official visit to the state

• The scope of the implementation of the various awareness campaigns includes gotong-royong activities, waste management, river preservation, education and awareness, including cleaning the beach.

• In addition to the local community, students and society people like JKKK, NGO’s and others equally play an important role in the success of these activities.

• Based on resident involvement and high commitment by the authority, the Department proposed that this program should be continued in order to preserve the environment.

CONCLUSION

• This Environmental Policy is still relevant to be continued because this is one of the good policy to be implement in our country. Through this policy we able to support tp preserve and conserve our old world.

• Besides that, we can encourage public to be more appreciate the nature for our future generations.

• Due to some weaknessess, this policy might have to be amended in order to achieve our nation’s aspiration of becoming a green country.
