An introduction to living and studying in Australia

Australia is one of the most popular study destinations in the English-speaking world for inter-national students who are looking for a great learning and lifestyle experience. It offers quality education, employment opportunities, breathtaking surf, picturesque beaches, and beautiful wildlife; all at the doorsteps of our two (2) beachfront campuses (Gold Coast, QLD and Byron Bay, NSW).

Both our campuses are surrounded by world class shopping experiences, lush green rainforests and naturally verdant hinterlands.

The beaches, the wildlife, the easy-going people, the festivals, the landscape and the multicul-tural diversity combined with the safe and stable socio-political environment all make Australia an ideal location for short or long term study.

7 MENTORING AND ASSESSMENT DAYS

8 ADDRESSING STUDENTS' NEEDS

9 UNIVERSITY PATHWAYS, CREDIT AND RPL

Rolling Intakes

University CreditsGain entry to university degrees on the completion of Diplomas or Advanced Diplomas in a range of study areas. Envirotech Certificate IV, Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas level courses are approved university pathways, offering our graduates direct entry to a Bachelor Degree with credits equivalent to one year of university degree.

The amount of credit received is based on the course you have successfully graduated and must be relevant to the degree you're applying for.

All applications for credit exemptions are assessed on an individual case basis.

Guaranteed University EntryEnvirotech Graduated students from Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma level courses, are guaranteed a univer-sity entry with our partner universities.

Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications generally award credit point equivalent to one year of Bachelor Degree if enrolling to further studies in the same stream.

Recognition of Prior LearningRecognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a form of assessment that recognises skills and knowledge that have been gained via formal training, industry employment, or education.

Qualifications gained through the RPL process are identical to those gained in classroom learning.

Envirotech provides RPL certification by collecting evidence of competencies gained through formal training conducted by industry, education, work experience and/or life experience, and can enable professionals to obtain a nationally recognised qualification by evidencing their professional and vocational experience.

RPL focuses on the applicants’ skills, employment and person-al outcomes and abilities rather than how, when or where the learning took place. It credits for skills and knowledge acquired in the past through work, life experience, hobbies and other activities and allows for endorsement of applicants learning for employment or visa applications.

If a candidate is found to be ‘not yet competent’ in a module, their assessor will ask them for further information and advise them on the best way to obtain it, or may offer gap training to obtain the qualification.

A mentor is a trusted counsellor, guide, trainer or appointed student that is there to assist our students in their academic and non-academic related matters as required.

The mentoring programme is delivered by Envirotech’s experi-enced trainers and outstanding senior students, who have demonstrated high achievements. The programme provides students in need of personal support and guidance focusing on areas of academic program difficulties or personal life.

The mentoring programme supports international students in their settlement process. We understand that sometimes it can be difficult for students to maintain the necessary level of academic progress when there may be personal matters affecting their life. A team of trainers and assessors, together with selected upper level undergraduates, work with students requiring support by role-modelling leadership, academic, and social skills.

There is one on one student counselling to support the student in resume building, the Australian market job search, establishing professional portfolios, creating and using a LinkedIn profile, finding and utilising networking opportuni-ties and more. Students are provided with a tailor-made action-plan and work placement trials which help them focus on and attain stronger employment outcomes.

Envirotech offers courses entry point “intakes” monthly, offering our students from around the world their preferred commence your studies.

Term/Vacation (10/3) cyclesEnvirotech terms (study periods) are of ten weeks. Between each term students enjoy three weeks’ vacation, making it ideal time to catch up on any missing assign-ments, travel in Australia, or to work full time.

Extra-Curriculum ProgrammesEnvirotech academic programmes offer extracurricular academic activities and multidisciplinary workshops in: sustainability management, business productivity, business technologies, digital and multi-media, language and literacy and other business technologies.Students may be entitled for vendors’ certification compli-mentary with their Australian qualification, e.g. Microsoft and Adobe certifications on completion of these extra-cur-riculum programs.

Microsoft Imagine AcademyEnvirotech offers its students Microsoft training and certifi-cation, as part of our academic programmes, to enhance their productivity, global skills, recognition and to improve students’ chances for professional employment.

Social LifeEnvirotech student parties and social events provides our students an opportunity to engage in social activities outside school hours. The social events are managed by Envirotech students.

Migration SeminarsWe offer our international students monthly migration information seminars, addressing frequently asked questions and providing students with valuable informa-tion made simple on how to maintain compliance with visa requirements in Australia.

GOLD COAST LIVING

Located in sunny Queensland, the Gold Coast is the sixth most populous city in Australia, with about 600,000 residents. As apparent from its name, the Gold Coast stretches for approxi-mately 70 kilometres of golden beaches. With a sub- tropical climate, white beaches and rainforest hinterland, the Gold Coast is a prime holiday vacation for people from Australia and abroad.

Gold Coast is a prime holiday vacation for people from Austra-lia and abroad. Boasting 35 beaches, 300 sunny days and four million visitors a year. It’s not cliché to say that the beaches here are spectacular, with outstanding waves at Burleigh Heads, Currumbin and Kirra: it’s one of the best places to learn to surf in Australia.

There is never any shortage of activities in the city. Gold Coast beaches are famous worldwide for surfing, and are a hit with both locals and tourists. Surfing, windsurfing, and para-sailing are some popular beach activities.

The Gold Coast is also home to several reserves and parks, such as Mount Cougal and the Rock Pools (only 10 minutes’ drive from Envirotech Campus), Springbrook National Park, Lamington National Park, and extinct volcanic mountain ranges. The Gold Coast has a variety of attractive lifestyles: from resort beaches to rural hinterlands to city cultural centres and a vibrant nightlife. The Gold Coast has a sub-tropi-cal climate year-round, with clear blue skies and warm sunny days.

BYRON BAY LIVING

What makes Byron Bay special is the singular vibe of the town itself, the unique atmosphere of surf culture and hippie vibes creating one great alternative lifestyle. It’s here that coastal surf culture flows into the hippie tide washing down from the hinterland, creating one great barefooted, alternative-lifestyle mash-up.

Byron Bay has a worldwide reputation for being one of Austra-lia’s most desirable holiday destinations. Even if we can’t put the finger on one specific reason, the fact is that almost everyone falls in love with Byron Bay.

The town centre successfully preserves its small-town soul with relaxed streets populated by funky shops, beer gardens and restaurants. The general feeling of a person walking the streets of Byron Bay is of freedom and relaxation.

Many travellers find themselves staying longer then they originally planned to as the place is nice to live in and so hard to leave.

Here are a few reasons why you would like to live in, or at least visit, Byron Bay:

FARMERS MARKET: One of the nicest weekly food markets you will find in NSW, selling fruit and vegetables, organic produce, bread, meat, herbs, nuts and much more. Most of the products sold are grown by local farmers and it is all fresh.

SKY DIVE: Enjoy a scenic flight over the beaches of Byron Bay, then experience the thrill of a 60-second free fall from a height of 4,200 meters, followed by a spectacular five-minute descent by parachute.

CAPE BYRON STATE CONSERVATION PARK: Visit the 1901 lighthouse and enjoy the spectacular views from the summit. You can climb up from the Captain Cook Lookout on the Cape Byron Walking Track or simply drive up. When you are there, keep your eyes out for dolphins (year round) and whales during June/July and September/November.

BARS AND RESTAURANTS: Enjoy the great cultural diversity reflected in the various bars, cafés and restaurants across the town.

BEACHES: Byron Bay is famous for its beautiful beaches, each different from one another and perfect to meet the wants of different crowds, whether they are surfers, families, or singles.

WELFARE SERVICES: Envirotech provides all Byron Bay students with welfare-support services, to assist with any issues that may arise during their study period, including accommodation and personal issues.

The Gold Coast is one of Australia’s premier national and international holiday destinations, and is just one hour’s drive from Queensland’s capital, Brisbane.

Surfers Paradise, Southport and Robina form the city’s main commercial centres. There are many busy shopping centres, tourist attractions and several theme parks, namely: Dream World, Sea World, Movie World and Water World. The infrastructure of the Gold Cost is one of the most amazing in the world, with many kilometres of water canals connecting to the beach, allowing residents to live on the waterfront with private “beach like” back yards in the middle of the city.

Australia is a multi-cultural society, and this is fully reflected on the Gold Coast: with a wide range of foods and restaurants from many different countries, as well as annual multicultural events, festivals, car races and more.

The international and domestic airport is located only a 15-minute drive from the Envirotech campus.

Envirotech provides all Gold Coast students with welfare-sup-port services, to assist with any issues that may arise during their study period, including accommodation and personal issues.
