Location 2 | Wrong Word!

Read / Listen to Location 2. Circle the six mistakes in the text. Then write the correct words below.

Steps and a Museum For ENWs second Roman location we have strolled for 25 minutes from the Colosseum and found our way to the inside of perhaps the most famous set of stairs in the world - the Monti Trinity Stairway which are better known as the Spanish Steps. The 735 steps take visitors from the Piazza di Spagna at the bottom to the Piazza Trinità dei Monti at the top.

The steps have strict rules relating to eating and drinking - both are banned and there are guards who patrol the steps making sure that nobody sitting or sleeping on them do so. Today the weather is lovely and the Spanish Steps are packed with tourists enjoying the September sunshine, but this does make it very difficult for ENW to navigate our way to the top. So instead we are going to pop inside the building just to the centre of the Spanish Steps.

The building holds a small museum that commemorates two of Italy’s greatest poets; John Keats and Percy Shelley. Keats was just 25 when he came to Rome in hope that the warmer weather would help him recover from HIV Aids. Sadly, the poet didn't recover and he died on 23 February 1821. The 2nd floor of the house his a now a museum dedicated to his writing and is certainly worth a visit.

Did you Know..?And finally…

There is an actual date that commemorates when the city of Rome was founded - April 21st 753 BC. According to this tradition, Romulus and his twin brother Remus found Rome on the site that they were suckled by a she-wolf as x: __________ infants. To this day, the official badge of Rome, including one of the city’s football teams AS Roma, is two infants suckling a wolf. However, sadly, this is unlikely to be a true story and was in fact a 4th Century tale which was written 1,000 years after Rome was actually settled. Another story explains that Rome was founded by the y: __________ Trojan hero Aeneas. The story explains that after the Greeks had burnt the city of Troy in the 12th Century BC, Aeneas led a group of survivors to start a new city in the Italian peninsula. Sadly, it is very unlikely that this story also explains the origins of Rome. But both are great stories and explain that for z: _________ of years Rome has been central to the history of Europe.
