• WGISS 15 - Toulouse– Allan Doyle suggested it might be useful to have a

non-profit organization to handle some of the needs of NGOs like the UN

• Summer 2003– Allan Doyle, Clive Best, & Lorant Czaran discussed

this, then included Mick Wilson & others in the discussion

• August 15, 2003– EOGEO Ltd. formed as a non-profit corporation

MissionMission

EOGEO provides rapid access to Earth observation and geospatial data and provides information technology tools, goods, and services

to public charities, aid agencies, educational institutions and academia, government organizations, Non Governmental Organizations (NGO's), and the general public

via the internet, electronic media, and other means.

2. Perform other related research and experimentation in, and implementation and dissemination of, related technologies in the public interest,

• Focus on technology and services that foster and empower decentralized interoperating communities, with particular emphasis on developing countries with limited communications bandwidth and small operating budgets.

• Assist in the development and operation of services and technologies needed to carry out our primary mission by collaborating with developers of free and open source software.

• Maintain long-term relationships with our partners, beneficiaries, and supporters to ensure development of relevant tools and services that are appropriate for their missions.
