Jeanne GriffinU.S. Environmental Protection AgencyOffice of Superfund SE-5J77 W. Jackson Blvd.Chicago, Illinois 60604Dear Jeanne:
Per your request, enclosed please find Quality Assurance information for the Fox River/GreenBay Mass Balance Study with particular attention to sediments and fish.
The Fox River/Green Bay database can be found on the Great Lakes National Program OfficeHome Page (http://www.epa.gov/glnpo/gbdata/gbay2.html). Your operative at E&E has beenmade aware of this database. The database has a great deal of information and includes many ofthe other aspects which you requested.
In regard to your request, we have confirmed that the sediment and fish database files in theGLNPO Home Page exist as we constructed them here at MED-Duluth. Grosse He. The databasefiles for PCBs in sediments are: IN0042, IN0047, IN0052, IN0057, IN0061, IN0070, IN0076,and IN0078. The database files for PCBs in fish are: FN0032, IN0035, IN0036, IN0037, IN0041,IN0088, IN0089, and IN0090. These are listed herein with additional database files descriptions.
With respect to sediments, supplemental QA information is provided for all 8 sets of data andare encoded by database file names a$ above. Additionally, Project QA signoff sheets areenclosed for all files excepting files IN0076 and IN0078, as the project QA coordinator was aGLNPO grantee and did not continue in this role after funding expired.
With respect to fish, supplemental QA information is provided in electronic form within eachof the 8 individual database files. Additionally, Project QA signoff sheets are enclosed for allfiles excepting files IN0088, IN0089. and IN0090; these are not available due to the same factoras cited above.
For this project, when final Project QA could not be obtained, the data was consideredprovisional data for use.
I hope this information is helpful in your endeavors to improve the Fox River/Green Bayecosvstem.
