We are more than just people. We are creators. We design more than just a cloth, it’s the threads of our culture. We strive to extend our personalities in how we present ourselves through our masterpieces. Although we may be looked at as the under dogs, we as UNDR-GRND KINGZ know that would be an understatement. We were given the gift to be creative through art and fashion.

In fashion, first impressions last forever; therefore it is a must you make a powerful statement the first time you meet someone. A lot of people use the three step method when first meeting someone. The three step method is an examination of someone in 3 different areas: shoes, clothing, and facial ap-pearance. If you pass the 3-step-method then you’re good from there.I’d say that most people shop within under-ground clothing brands because most of the time nobody will have what they have. Exclusivity plays a key role in underground fashion. I myself enjoy the quality of being the difference in a crowd of people. I say this because I know that my style of fashion influences others to want know what it is im wearing and where did I get it from? I would consider myself as a leader of underground fashion.

Style plays a major role in ones confidence; if he or she feels that what they have on looks good enough to them, then their confidence level will be even higher and vice versa. You have people who spend a good amount of time on making sure their appearance is up to par. Originality is also key factor in fash-ion. As much as you may try to look different than the next person, he or she may end up looking nearly the same. So, this is where you would come up with a way you could look different, yet still appear to be original. A lot of fashion from the 80’s and 90’s have began to evovle in today’s mainstream and under-ground fashion. Now, it’s a must that you be original because everybody is being fed the same style from back then. It’s also the designers responsibility to make sure their clothing concepts are very appealing, differ-ent, and in high demand.

There are several underground brands thats very popular such as: 8and9, ILTHY, Kreemo, and many others. I’ve gotten the opportunity to model for this brand entitled 8and9. Their line is based out of New York and Miami. 8and9’s designs are very unique and appealing. Being able to model for their line has opened up av-enues in fashion for me. Being that I too have a clothing line, the creators of 8and9 allowed me to gain recognition around the world as well as get a better understanding of the fashion in-dustry. I got the chance to ask those who have a good fashion sense what were their favorite undeground brands, and some said that King of Fresh, Pink Dolphin, Premium Label, and Rocksmith had their interest. Being that I know who these brands are, I can vouch for them. Those brands are some of my favorite brands also. Viewing the design concepts of those brands helps me generate ideas for my own.

What are they wearing? That’s the question most people who dress differently get asked at least 4 times a day if it’s appealing. There are three different clothing brands shown on this page. Top Left: Rapper (MGK) is sporting the clothing brand ILTHY (I Love The HYpe), Top Right: is a photo of me at the 8and9 back to school photo shoot, Bottom Left: Branden and I modeling for 8and9’s back to school photo shoot, and Bottom Right: Model at Kreemo’s fall photo shoot. Each brand has it’s own styl-ish appeal. You’d be able to tell the difference from the three based on their brand logos, and design concepts. Being that I am one of the main models for 8and9’s clothing brand, I en-joy doing the different shoots, as well as getting to keep the clothes once we’re done. I would like to model for other brands such as Kreemo and ILTHY not only because i’d get to keep the clothing, but because I am a fan of their brands. Their designs are very originial and appealing.

Boutiques are the home of many under-ground clothing brands. A designers main goal is to have their merchandise sold within the high-end boutiques. These boutiques allows a fashion designers clothing brand to be viewed by many such as famous athletes, entertainers, and etc. Underground fashion cartels strive to get their clothing in these boutiques hop-ing the famous stars buy their clothing which would then give them a bigger buzz because of the person who is representing their cloth-ing line. Once other people see that someone who is very popular wearing a brand of cloth-ing they’ve never seen before, that would make the demand for that clothing brand reach an ultimate high.

Events such as trunk-shows, performances within boutiques, and fundraisers coincide with the underground fashion lifestyle. A lot of these events are either held within boutiques or some type of auditorium. These events bring many people who have talent within designing clothes, music, or any type of entertainment together. Bullets & Mullets and Phatkaps are two bou-tiques in Nashville that are both infamous for holding many events. Sneakers and Speakers is an annual event held at B&M, and this event allows those who are musicians and “sneaker-heads” together to showcase their skills or shoe collection. Phatkaps is infamous for bringing mainstream artists and underground clothing cartels together to enjoy both music & fashion.
