As we commission our Liturgical Ministers this weekend, I’d like to extend an invitation to all of you who might consider volunteering. It can be very rewarding to serve others at Mass and those who are homebound.

As Catholics, we serve God in many ways. Some tend to the sick and homebound. Some work with teens to help them seek Jesus and develop a

good relationship with him. Others do good works with the poor and those less fortunate. Still others work for peace & justice.

Here at Mass, we serve God and one another by being liturgical ministers, assisting others to enjoy a prayerful experience every time we get together for Mass. In our service, we strive to enable spiritual prayer so that all can find the peace and strength to live out God’s plan every day.

What we do at Mass is just as important as what we do in our homes and work. I am always grateful for the support and help of the many volunteers we have in this parish. It takes everyone to make Mass a holy and sacred time spent together.

Please ponder and pray about your own calling and the invitation that each of the baptized is given to share his or her time and talent as a liturgical minister. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Nora Lundin, Director of Liturgy & Music

uPdate: st. albert the great church FloorIng Fund alMost there! In the December 16th edition of our parish eBulletin, it was announced

that an anonymous donor has pledged to match, dollar for dollar, any St. Albert the Great Flooring campaign contribution of $500 dollars or more up to a total of $10,000. We have received six "double it" donations totaling $7,100 which doubled to $14,200 and several other donations that bring us now to a total of $78,000. Our cost estimate was approximately $75,000 plus contingency of $8,000. We still need your help. Although the matching fund will be attributed on a first come basis, all funds small or large are still needed. Please note “Double It” on your check and it will be doubled, if possible.

s.o.u.P. MeetIng on January 11, 2017The basic plan for SOUP is simple. Three families bring soup to the meeting and a few bring wine and juice. Each person brings a bowl and crackers or bread. We have about an hour of good conversation and a simple dinner. At the end of the meal, each person donates what they would have spent at the market or dining out. We are very interested in restarting this group. Please join us to share your ideas this Wednesday at 6pm at OLR Hall. Anne & Bill Morrison

ePIPhany ProclaMatIon!My sisters and brothers, the glory of the Lord Jesus has been made manifest and will continue to be revealed in our midst until he comes again. In the rhythms and alternations of time, let us recall and live the mysteries of our salvation.

Central to the entire liturgical year is our celebration of the TRIDUUM OF THE LORD, crucified, died and risen, which culminates on EASTER SUNDAY, the 16th of April. Every SUNDAY, when we recall this paschal mystery, holy Church makes present this great event in which Christ has conquered sin and death.

From Easter derive all our other celebrations: ASH WEDNESDAY, the beginning of the season of Lent, the 1st of March; the ASCENSION OF THE LORD, the 28th of May, PENTECOST, the 4th of June; and the FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT, the 3rd of December.

Likewise, in the feasts of the holy Mother of God, of the apostles and saints, and in the commemoration of all the faithful departed, the Church, in her pilgrimage here on earth, proclaims the paschal mystery of the Lord.

To Christ who is, who was, and who is to come, the Lord of all time and history: be endless praise now and forever! Amen.

Plans For a neW ParIsh Photo albuM

In honor of the 30th anniversary of our parish (1987!), we plan to use the LifeTouch company to produce a new parish photo album. Lifetouch bought Olan Mills.

LifeTouch offers a simple directory which speeds pro-duction of the album. The book size is 5.5” x 8.5” and includes photos of parishioners as well as a directory listing (names, phone numbers, addresses). It does NOT include “activities pages” or other parish-designed pages. It is designed to be quick and straightforward to produce. Each family receives a complimentary 8” x 10” photo and can select other packages. The bonus of this program is that as soon as 15 individuals or families register the book can be updated free-of-charge. Many parishes have their photo albums updated twice a year as a result. Lifetouch will provide multiple photogra-phers so that photo sessions are quick.

With our prior efforts to produce photo albums, we could only mount the effort once every 5 years or so, and the directory can get out of date due to new parish registrations/deaths/moving etc. Lifetouch offers online registration or individuals and families can phone the Pastoral Center to make an appointment.

Dates in February 2017 at St. Albert the Great and Our Lady of the Rosary have been reserved in the parish Facilities book. Lifetouch says it typically completes the album in 6 weeks after photography completes, com-pared to three+ months for a “premier directory”. We hope to have the photo album available by Easter 2017.More details will be available soon in our Bulletins.
