It also helps to keep the “Exploring the Word” bulletin insert and prepare for the next Sundays readings by looking them over beforehand.

He aquí algunas sugerencias:

LAUGH LINES: Once a Baptist John Smith was the only Protestant to move into a large Catholic neighborhood. On the first Friday of Lent, John was outside grilling a big juicy steak on the grill. Meanwhile, all of his neighbors were eating cold tuna fish for supper. This went on every Friday of Lent. On the last Friday of Lent, the neighborhood men got together and decided that something had to be done about John, he was tempting them to eat meat each Friday of Lent, and they couldn’t take it anymore. They decided to try and convert John to be a Catholic. They went over and talked to him and were so happy that he decided to join all of his neighbors and become a Catholic. They took him to church, and the Priest sprinkled some water over him and said, “You were born a Baptist, you were raised Baptist, and now you are a Catholic.” The men were so relieved now their biggest Lenten temptation was resolved. The next year’s Lenten season rolled around. The first Friday of Lent came, and just at supper time, when the neighborhood was sitting down to their tuna fish dinner, came a wafting smell of steak cooking on a grill. The neighborhood men could not believe their noses! What was going on? They called each other up and decided to meet over in John’s yard to see if he had forgotten it was the first Friday of Lent? The group arrived just in time to see John standing over the grill with a small pitcher of water. He was sprinkling water over his steak on the grill, saying, “You were born a cow, you were raised a cow, and now you are a fish.” Christian Clippings

OUR GIFTS TO GOD - Today we remember the

three wise men from the East who came to pay homage to the infant Jesus, bringing Him rich gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The gifts we bring – our time and service and a share of what we earn from the work we do – are far more precious in His sight. “Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:11). The image of the Magi kneeling before the infant Jesus and opening their treasure chests for Him is an image that we should all try to follow. Each of us is called to open our gifts before Jesus, offering Him what He needs. If you have trouble with this idea, keep one of the Magi from your Nativity set on your desk all year as a reminder to bring your gifts to Jesus.

REFLECTION ON STEWARDSHIP - We are

held accountable for how we treat this planet earth, and how we love, care for, and serve others. It’s a “both-and” love for God Sunday as we reverently thank God for God’s creation and return to God what has been given to us: our time, our talent, and our treasure to be used for the service of others. “Much will be required of the person entrusted with much and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.”
