ORICS® - Client Software - Tree Function

The tree function ensures fast selection of devices and rapid access to connected devices and ORs. Similar to the familiar Microsoft directory structure

The tree structure shows the user exactly where he is at all times. It gives him direct access to all ORs and ORICS devices, no matter how many systems are connected.

ORICS® - Client Software - MODE Change

Simply selecting an Icon brings the user from one function to another. Color-coded backgrounds clearly show which mode is currently activated.

ORICS Client Software offers the user 3 basic functions: 1. Live transmission: real-time view of the surgical process2. Telestrator: explanation of image sections3. Gallery: management of stored images

Page 10: Equipor de quirofano - ORICS

10

ORICS® - Client Software - Live

ORICS offers direct transmission and bidirectional communication.

Every participant with "Controller rights" can comment, create drawings, or guide the camera.

Controlled communication ensures that only one person outside the OR can communicate at a time with the OR personnel.

Other participants remain in Observer Mode

Controller rights can be transferred to other persons upon request.

The controller can turn off the microphone.

The Controller and the Observer can record both individual images and image sequences.

Page 11: Equipor de quirofano - ORICS

ORICS® - Client Software - Telestrator

Selection from a range of colors is possible.

Free-hand drawing is possible in the image. Circles, frames, individual dots, arrows etc. can be used for clarification.

Explanatory illustrations can be deleted or digitally saved together with the image. ('Save' = save digitally to a specific location, 'Save as' = save to a location of the user's choice).

Immediate return to direct transmission at any time.

Live transmission and snapshots can be viewed simultaneously with the Picture-in-Picture function.

Page 12: Equipor de quirofano - ORICS

12

ORICS® - Client Software - Gallery

Fast access to snapshots. The familiar register structure ensures a good overview.

Images can be individually saved, closed, or deleted. All images can be closed at once.

The Telestrator Mode can be activated in the Gallery.

The Camera Control Panel can be blended out for better overview.

13

ORICS® - Client Software - Grabbing

The client software can be installed on any standard PC or laptop.

All persons with network access rights and access to the network can install the software, thus benefiting from ORICS.

The installation and configuration settings are uncomplicated.

The user can also specify where images and data files are to be stored.

Limitations can be set on the file size of video recordings.

The Challenge:

To reduce costs, stay within the budget, and simultaneously increase quality and efficiency

To satisfy the need and the desire for more specialized treatment and consultation.

Why is ORICS® the Way to the Future ? (1/2)

Trends:

More and more networking among hospitals (internal and external).

More and more digitalization of work processes and documentation.

• Intraoperative Teleconsultation

• Telepresence

• Telesurgery

• Training

Page 16: Equipor de quirofano - ORICS

16

The Senior Surgeon can join any team in any OR of his choice with a single mouse click.

He can make sure the patient is ready (operating surgeons are often called too early or too late).

Colleagues can consult with the Senior Surgeon or other experts without them leaving their offices and heading for the OR or changing into sterile clothing. The decision whether they should be present in the OR can be made from case to case.

Trained personnel in the OR can be consulted during an OP without calling them out of the OR.

A central committee of trained physicians can meet daily and make decisions on the basis of video recordings or other visual material.

Pathological results can be better documented.

ORICS also has the capability to be networked with notebooks and PDAs via wireless LAN. This keeps colleagues in touch at all times, whether in the hospital or outside it.

Why is ORICS® the Way to the Future ? (2/2)

- Greater efficiency

- Higher quality

-Concentrated and decentralized expertise

- Digital documentation

- ORICS is an easy-to-use stand-alone system with full networking capability.

- Access from any location

- Costs are limited to one ECU per OR and one software installation per PC and user

Page 17: Equipor de quirofano - ORICS

Note on Appropriate Use of ORICS®

Please note:

ORICS is approved only for use in documentation and training, since the possibility of malfunctions in current network systems cannot be completely excluded.

Responsibility for using ORICS in any other manner and for the decision to do so lies with the user alone.

Installation

What steps are required to install ORICS?ORICS is easy to install; specialists and service technicians are not required. 1. ORICS includes a CD with software. This is used to install a configuration program and the ORICS Client on a PC or notebook connected to the hospital network (this is usually done by the hospital's IT manager). 2. The ORICS configuration program is then used to configure ORICS for each connected device. A copy of this configuration is saved to a USB stick.3. The USB stick can then be inserted into any device connected to the ORICS system. When turned on, the device then configures itself automatically.

The network configuration must be carried out for each individual ORICS device.

Each user can then install the ORICS Client Software on his PC or notebook and benefit from the ORICS features.

Requirements for ORICS®

Use of the ORICS-Videoserver must be coordinated with the hospital's network administrator before ORICS is put into operation. The following requirements are to be met:

·A network connection must be present in the OR, preferably in the vicinity of the camera's ECU.· The ORICS®-Videoserver requires an additional power supply connection. It should be in the vicinity of the camera's ECU.· The communication functions require a microphone and loudspeakers. The microphone must make a line level (1.0 Vs-s) available, and the loudspeakers must be active boxes or be connected via an amplifier.· A TCP/IP connection to the computers on which the client software is installed must be available. This can be checked with the "ping" command (ICMP-echo-request).· Changes in the settings of the unit require that a PC with a Telnet program be connected with the unit. This can be effected with a crossed network cable or via an existing network. The network settings of the computers must be adapted to the standard settings of the ORICS® unit. The standard settings are given in the Appendix at the end of this text.· If the unit is not to receive its network settings via a DHCP server, the following data must be known:

- IP address which the ORICS® Videoserver is to receive.- The related subnet mask.- The standard gateway, if present.- Multicast capability of existing network components. If this is unknown, the unit must be set for Unicast operation.
