Before sending the application forms, we need the official nomination from your Institution including the following data:

Deadline of submission: 31.5.2016
Once nominated, please send the 1. Student Application Form together with the 2. Learning Agreement-including B1 knowledge proof of the Greek language and the result of the OLS Language Assessment (English), 3. the Transcript of Records (including the courses - translated in English - which you have already passed at your home institution) and 4. 1passport-size photograph, by registered mail, to the International Relations Department of our University before the following deadlines: Deadlines: 1st semester or the full academic year: 30/06/2016 2nd semester: 30/09/2016
After receiving the dully signed and stamped applications by regular post, the International Office will forward them to the student Academic Coordinator and the International Mobility Coordinator. After acceptance, the students will receive an official letter of acceptance.

2.LINGUISTIC REQUIREMENTS
Erasmus students should have sufficient knowledge of the Greek language since most of the courses are taught in Greek. However, for Erasmus students, courses may also be offered on a tutorial basis in one of the main European languages and the examinations have the form of essay writing or written exams. There are also practical courses found in Departments such as the Music Dept, Audiovisual Dept. etc. Extra courses (accredited with ECTS) are offered especially for Incoming Erasmus students in an interdepartmental level.
Main Language of instruction and examination: Greek Recommended level: B1 From this year onwards, since the OLS supports only A1 Knowledge of the Greek language, students will be admitted after presenting proof of B1 Greek knowledge with a language certificate, a support letter proving the required language level or a certificate issued by the Home University or language centers. The Ionian University offers Greek Language Course for Erasmus students during the academic year (October- June), free of charge, accredited with six (6) ECTS per semester.
Second Language: English Required level: B2
Regarding the B2 English level, students can be admitted after presenting a copy of the result of the OLS English Language Assessment. Also Available: French, German, Italian according to the tutor.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Each academic year comprises two semesters of 13 weeks each. An examination period of twenty days corresponds to each semester. There is a third examination period (repetitive for all courses) in September. GENERAL INFORMATION
1. PROCEDURES UPON ARRIVAL AT CORFU ENROLLMENT AT THE IONIAN UNIVERSITY 1. After your arrival and once settled in, you can go directly to the Secretariat of your Department for your formal enrollment. You have to bring the following with you:
1. An Identity Card or a valid passport
2. 4 passport-size photos
3. A Certificate from your Home University testifying you are ERASMUS student 4. A signed copy of the Learning agreement 5. E.H.I.C. card or relevant insurance document valid for the previewed Erasmus period
(translated in English). 6. A copy of your House Rental Contract
2. Once settled in, students should provide the International & Public Relations Dept. ([email protected]) with their address and telephone numbers in Corfu. EXTENTION OF STUDY PERIOD
The exchange period can be extended for study purposes up to September 30th. Before applying to the Ionian University, you must have your home University’s official approval document. COMPUTER-INTERNET FACILITIES

2. AT THE END OF THE STUDY PERIOD Before your departure please remember the following : - Return books to the Library
Without it one cannot ask for the Transcript of Records.
- Ask for the Transcript of Records (marks, credits etc.), a copy of the signed Learning agreement (changes if any) and the Final Certificate of attendance from the Secretariat of the Department you attended. All documents should be signed by the Secretary and/or the Erasmus Departmental Coordinator and stamped by the Secretariat of the Department.

1. RESIDENCE PERMIT
A. If you are EU citizen you need only a valid identity document.
As soon as you arrive in Corfu, you must register at the Aliens Police Department (Hellenic Police Headquarters in Corfu, I. Andeadi 1, 1st floor, tel: 26610 29178), where you will be given a Certificate of Inscription in the Aliens’ register, after showing the following documents:
E.H.I.C. card or relevant insurance document valid for the previewed Erasmus period (translated in English).
Your Erasmus+ Learning Agreement.
The Ionian University’s Letter of Acceptance.
B. Non EU citizens must obtain their study visa (before arrival) and residence
permit (upon arrival). All citizens must be addressed to the Greek Consulate of their country.

Residence permit Upon arrival at Corfu and if you expect to stay longer than three months, you need to address yourself to the Ministry of Interior- Aliens and Immigration Department, Alykes Potamou (Blue Building) 49100 Corfu (Tel.: +30 26613 61587 – Opening hours : Monday-Thursday 09:00-13:00) in order to obtain a Residence Permit. For the issuing of the Residence Permit you need:

Entry Visa Type D issued for the particular study period
2 recent colored photos Passport type
Certification of the Host Institution (Ionian University), testifying that you are Erasmus student and specifying the exact Erasmus+ period studies
Certificate of scholarship testifying that the student can cover all his expenses during his/her stay in Greece
A fee of 150 € ( “Paravolo” issued from ΚΕΠ )
Health insurance document previewed for the Erasmus period translated in English
1. HEALTH INSURANCE Health insurance is compulsory.
EU Citizens EU citizens should have with them the E.H.I.C. card valid for the previewed study period issued by the relevant Heath Institution in the student’s Home Country. In case of a special health problem or if you are an Erasmus Traineeship Student or if
you don’t have the EHIC card with you during your trip, it is strongly recommended to
have a private insurance for the Erasmus period (both for health insurance and civil
responsibility).

Non EU Citizens
Non EU Citizens are strongly recommended to have health insurance coverage for

arrival they must show at the Host Institution’s Secretariat a copy of the relevant
document available in English.
2. ACCOMMODATION
The Ionian University doesn’t provide any housing. Renting in Corfu is not too expensive. One should estimate approximately 250€ - 400€ / per month (it depends on the type: flat-sharing – small apartment etc.). Rooms can be found through the internet or by consulting the relevant notice boards located at the entrances of the University’s building facilities.
It is the student’s responsibility to find accommodation.
As soon as the student finds accommodation, he/she must bring to his/her Ionian
University Department’s Secretariat a copy of his/her House Rental Contract.
Otherwise, the Secretariat will not be able to proceed to the student’s enrollment.

COST OF LIVING
The average cost for living (except accommodation) in Corfu amounts to 400€ approx. per month.
As an ERASMUS student you have the possibility to get two full meals per day in the restaurant contracted with the Ionian University by paying the reduced price of 2€ approximately per meal directly to the Restaurant. ERASMUS students can get further information on the contracted restaurant from the Accommodation Office (tel.26610 44385).
