Bible The Puritans believed that the Bible
was God’s true law, and it provided a plan for living.
The basis for the Puritan’s beliefs was an emphasis on the righteousness and
sovereignty of God.
TULIPTotal Depravity – every person is born sinful
Unconditional Election – only a few are selected for salvation
Limited Atonement – Jesus died for the chosen only, not for everyone
Irresistible Grace – God’s grace is freely given, it cannot be earned or denied
Perseverance – those elected by God have full power to interpret the will of God, and to live
uprightly
