The tremendous power and torque capacity of ERT’s also allow them to more efficiently transfer power to the bit. This efficiency has produced ROPs in short ERT power sections up to twice those of extended length conventional power sections. The dramatic improvement in power and torque is a result of applying an even thickness of rubber to an internally machined, one-piece stator contour. ERT power densities up to twice that of conventional power sections also permit the use of shorter motors without compromising ROP, providing: Improved motor directional performance Improved MWD/LWD measurement quality Increased Rotary Steerable Tool ROP NOV Energy Systems’ extensive experience in stator engineering, manufacturing and product application enabled the Company to develop ERT stators with internal contours that are precision-machined, rather than hydraulically formed. This innovative approach eliminates the reliability and dimensional consistency concerns of hydraulically formed tubes, which commonly consist of multiple tubes welded together. One-piece ERT tubes feature excellent durability and tolerancing that optimizes the benefits of ERT technology. Applying a low-volume, even thickness of rubber and supporting each lobe with steel minimizes, and makes uniform, the rubber’s degree of dimensional change over the entire stator length due to temperature, chemical attack and loading, thereby minimizing stress risers. This design allows ERT Power Sections to reliably produce higher power density and improved reliability, which translate to higher ROPs. The tremendous torque capacity of the ERT also makes the output speed less sensitive to changes in the bit’s torque demands. The result is a more constant bit speed, maximizing the effective horsepower applied to the bit. An additional benefit of the ERT’s high power density is the ability to use shorter power sections with performance outputs comparable to that of longer conventional products. This improves the motor’s directional response as well as MWD and LWD measurement quality by placing their sensors closer to the bit. ERT power sections are also a perfect choice to drive RSTs. ERTERT power sections dramatically improve motor rates of penetration by providing up to 100% more power than conventional power sections of the same length.

ERT power densities up to twice that of conventional power sections also permit the use of shorter motors without compromising ROP, providing:

• Improved motor directional performance• Improved MWD/LWD measurement quality• Increased Rotary Steerable Tool ROP

NOV Energy Systems’ extensive experience in stator engineering, manufacturing and product application enabled the Company to develop ERT stators with internal contours that are precision-machined, rather than hydraulically formed.
