Outline of The Company

SWCC SHOWA CABLE SYSTEMS CO., LTD. derived from SWCC HOLDINGS CO., LTD. (formerly SWCC SHOWA

ELECTRIC WIRE & CABLE CO., LTD., found in 1936), and was established in Apr. 2006. As an integrated manufacturer

of electric power cables, telecommunication cables and cable accessories, we are contributing for infrastructures of power

transmission lines and networks not only in Japan, but also in other countries all over the world.In order to meet customers' requirements and market demands, we persist with technology innovation. Especially, for our

sophisticated power cable accessories above 22kV class, most of Japanese switchgear and transformer manufacturers

have recognized our products, and they are using it as a standard part for their switchgear and transformer.

Recently, we have developed a prestigious product: Smart Plug-in IEC type cable termination for 60kV to 345kV XLPE

insulated power cable. Our unique in-house design concept has been applied for the development of this product.

Outdoor cable terminations including porcelain type, polymer type and direct molded type termination are

our main products. Depending on different types, outdoor terminations have various features as follows:

 Porcelain type / Polymer type outdoor termination

This termination consists of a stress relief cone, insulating materials, and metals such as a protective

cover and a connecting rod. It has a simple structure with stable performance. The stress relief cone is

manufactured in a clean room by using high-quality silicon rubber. The insulating bushing can be

provided with porcelain type one or polymer type one in accordance with the customer's requirements.

 Direct Molded type outdoor termination

The termination has a solid insulated structure directly molded with an epoxy insulator and covered by

silicone rubber outside the surface of the epoxy insulator. The product is completely free from liquid

insulation and has a very simple structure compared with conventional type (porcelain type / polymer

type). It can be applied in high pollution zone.

The SF6 gas/oil immersed sealing end is a dry type cable termination which is completely free from liquid

insulation and fully complies with international standard. The products are ranging from 60kV to 345kV.

The product consists of an epoxy insulator, an electrical stress relief cone, compress unit, and other

parts. The epoxy insulator is made from the epoxy resin of highest grade of quality and manufactured in

the complete close production line under the contamination-free condition in our factory.

Cable Joint

Premolded Straight Joint

The premolded straight joint consists of a rubber block unit, insulation compound, a connector, and

protective covers. The rubber block unit is premolded by using high-quality silicon rubber in the factory. It

is pre-expanded with a spiral core in the factory and can be installed only by pulling the spiral core at the

site. Therefore the special tools and high skill are unnecessary at the assembly process, so those shorten

the assembly time and stabilize the product's performance.

According to the customer's requirements, a coffin box can be used optionally. The joint without coffin box

can also meet waterproof requirements due to its protective copper tube with plastic waterproof coating.

Prefabricated Straight Joint

The prefabricated joint consists of an epoxy unit, a connector, two stress relief cones, and two protective

covers. The surface pressure between the cable, the stress relief cone, and the epoxy unit is maintained

and guaranteed by a mechanical force of the compression device’s springs. So the stabile performance is

demonstrated by more past records.

According to the customer’s requirements, a coffin box can be used optionally. The joint without coffin box

can also meet waterproof requirements due to its protective copper tube with plastic waterproof coating.

Y Branch Joint

The Y branch joint consists of an epoxy unit, three stress relief cones, and three compress units. The

epoxy unit is made from highest grade epoxy resin and manufactured under the contamination-free

condition. It has a small dimension compared with the conventional type and can cover XLPE cables with

conductor size up to 1200mm2. The Y branch joint is a dry-type structure without oil/gas-filling so that

there is no need to maintain regularly and there is no factor of fire trouble.
