So, who am I? Well, I

right now I study
economics with a
focus on tourism. I
am fairly new to ESN.
My adventure
started as a Buddy
for ESN Kalmar last
year. My main
passion here in life,
except from ESN, is
to baking and
cooking. Of course, I
love to eat it
afterwards! This is
actually one of the
reasons why I join
ESN, cause I wanted
to try food from all
over the world. Ho-
wever, now, I reliaze
that ESN stands for

Section in focus - ESN Växjö
P A G E 3 2 0 1 1 N U M B E R 1
As you might know VIS – Växjö International Stu-dents, is an old and strong section on both local level as well as within ESN. VIS was born in 1991 and therefore we are at the moment cele-brating our 20th anniver-sary! We started of with about thirty members, no official board and without a Student Life Coordina-tor to help out. In October 1994 VIS was officially a section of ESN Sweden that means in three years we have another great anniversary to celebrate.
To make our birthday visible we have had a Sittning where we invited old board members from the past years as well as the newly elected board of ESN Sweden. After the dinner we finished of with a great birthday party where everyone danced around in their party hats and experienced the typical Swedish tradition of the ‘Fiskedam’ (Fishing pond) where the guests got small gifts.
In contrary to regular birthdays we have tried to give back to our mem-
bers in all kinds of levels. Not only have we tried to keep the prices down extra but also in some cases invited them to free event such as when we rented the Adventure Swimming Pool where all our members could join!
This has been the red thread through out this semester, the unofficial motto and our general way of thinking. To give back to the members not only through keeping the prices even lower but to create the feeling of that it is their birthday as much as ours.
This school year of ‘10/’11 has given us over a thousand members joining us for over forty activities such as the successful Fotsal Tournament, IKEA trips, Moose & Glasswork trip, Salsa lessons, several weekend trips and much, much more. Today we are 519 members, a board of 17 as well as an Activity Committee helping us create a lot of fun. With currently three people from ESN Växjö in the national board, where two of them are active members and one of them as a Member of Honor the ESN spirit is
stronger than ever and because of that we are of course very proud of our section.
Though success is not about how many mem-bers you have in ESN Sweden but rather how many students you reach out to. Meeting several former exchange stu-dents at AGM Budapest asking for VIS as well as Karin Siöö shows we are doing a great job and that is what keeps us aiming for our 40th anniversary!
Bus trips
are
actually a
lot of fun!

ESN CIRC CIRC stands for Chalmers International Recep-tion Committee and is active in Gothenburg (Göteborg). CIRC is a part of the Student Union of Chalmers University and they are mostly active dur-ing the reception periods, the first month in each
semester (September and January). ESN CIRC also participates in national ESN events such as the ESN Road-trips to Russia, PRIME, etc. At the moment ESN CIRC is in Russia with a group leader and 20 students. As part of their reception activities they have organized a sauna
evening, different theme parties, city tours, etc. Unfortu-nately ESN CIRC will not take part of the AGM because of a lim-ited travel budget. Their participation in NP Lund/Malmö is also still unconfirmed.

ESN Stockholm KTH ESN Stockholm KTH is
working on getting a
carrige to the Qarnevalen.
Qarnevalen is a parad that
takes place every third
year. A lot of students are
working with the
Qarneval. 400 000
people sees it so it is a
brilliant way to get
promotion. ESN
Stockholm KTH works to
get more student
sections and organization
to use more english but
also to print guides to
typical Swedish things for
the exchange students.
This to make it
easier for the
exchange students to
understand what is
happening. ESN KTH is
also working to build a
strong collaboration
with iaeste and aiesec.

to involve ESN project such as PRIME and the ESN Sea Battle. ESN Luleå will organize the NP after summer 2011, so the section has been working on these arrangements. For their international students
ESN Luleå (a.k.a LURC – Luleå University Recep-tion Committee) is the youngest of the Swedish ESN sections, and they are also a part of their Student Union. At the moment they have expanded their activities
they have organized a trip to the Ice Hotel, party with Swedish students, Foodfes-tival (Eurodinner), etc. LURC will unfortunately not be present at the AGM, but they have already con-firmed their participation to NP Lund/Malmö!

ESN Lund ESN Lund is situated in a beautiful town in the south of Sweden. In the upco-ming week, ESN Lund orga-nizes a party in one of Lunds Nations. The theme will be flags! To organize parties and dinner parties is one of ESN Lund specialties and you will al-ways leave their parties with a huge smile in your
face. An upcoming trip that ESN Lund is to the beautiful city Prague! It is cooperation between ESN Lund and ESN Pra-gue. ESN Lund likes to cooperate and in May they will work with ESN Copenhagen and have a night of party in each others cities. Together
with their neighbor ESN Malmö, they will also be organizing the next National Platform!

more about the cas-tles history.
ESN Örebro is also very active with So-cial Erasmus, they are now planning a trip to the prison.
ESN Örebro has worked on a new logo for the section to have a good visual identity.
ESN Örebro has also done some activities such as a trip to the well known (for Swed-ish people) Ullared.

Committees: a focus on the education committee
Join a Committee Committees are very
important for ESN. The
people in the committees
are doing their best to
improve ESN. Currently
there are five different
committees; Internatio-
nal Education (ICE),
Network & Events (NEC),
Communication
(ComCom), Finance
(FiCo) and Information
Technology (IT). There is
a committee for all diffe-
rent intrests in ESN. We
strongly
incourage everybody
to get involved at a
more international
level. This is your time
to shine, this is your
time to make a
change! So take it
now.
in addition to have an ex-cellent knowledge of the functioning of ESN as well as of its activities and projects (it needs to be good some ESNrs!) – are people with a relevant expertise in their field and with very strong motivations. The International Committee for Education(ICE) is responsible for developing the long term strategies for educational policy, for preparing the ESN policy papers on different topics, for research related projects, such as the important ESN survey and PRIME. ICE is also involved, among others, in the European Year of Volunteering project and ESN Eduk8. Recently, ICE has finished to work on two position papers, the Modernisation of Higher Education and
the Future of Erasmus, which are high quality documents, and will be accessible to public in the next days. In just over a year old the thematic Committees have become some real and bows thinking bodies, the “think tanks” of ESN! They contain a significant part of the “thinking soul” of the greatest innovative European Association to support the policies in the high mobility education. But they also give to ESN and to mobility policies the operating arms! Antonio Del Sole Member of ICE Committee – ESN ASSI Parma and ESN Alumni
From 3rd to 6th of March 2011 the second “CoMeet” was arranged and this time in Madrid. the meeting of the all ESN Committees. It was organised by the section ESN UAM at the Univer-sidad Autónoma de Ma-drid, and was attended by about 70 Committee members. This is the perfect way for the different committees to meet and discuss different things. All the committees are equally significant for ESN life. The Committees are structured as advisory and implementing bodies of ESN, with no decision-making powers. The Committees are composed of a Chair and one or two Vice Chairs, and a number of members varies. The Committees members –
