IPS e.max® Press Multi is the world’s first polychromatic ingot for the press technique. It
effectively combines esthetics, efficiency and strength. The lifelike shade gradiation within
the material imparts monolithic restorations with a natural-looking appearance. The ingot
is composed of the clinically proven IPS e.max Press lithium disilicate (LS2) material, which
exhibits a high strength of 400 MPa. The ingot is available in one size and in nine A–D
shades and in one Bleach BL shade.

IPS e.max Press Multi is used for pressing anterior and posterior crowns, veneers as well as
hybrid abutment crowns, quickly and efficiently. The restorations show a graduated level
of shade and translucency similar to that of natural teeth: The chroma and opacity of the
material is higher in the cervical and dentin region, and the incisal areas are suitably trans-
lucent. The multi-coloured restorations show a very lifelike appearance, which in the past
could only be attained with time-consuming layering techniques. Due to their monolithic
structure, IPS e.max Press Multi restorations are not only attractive, but also very strong.
And, they are fabricated in one press sequence.

IPS e.max Press restorations, posterior crowns in particular, have an excellent track record
due to their high strength and stability. Now, the ability to press esthetic multi-coloured
restorations in one press cycle with subsequent glazing significantly simplifies the manufac-
turing process and therefore enhances efficiency. If necessary, the restorations can also be
characterized with IPS e.max Ceram Shades and Essence and Glaze materials: for example,
if the appearance of a single anterior restoration has to be matched to that of a neighbour-
ing tooth.

The Programat press /ceramic furnaces have been producing high-quality press results for
decades. The intelligent, user-friendly Programat EP 3010 and EP 5010 press furnaces are
fully compatible with the IPS e.max Press materials. Innovative technology has been developed
and patented to process the new polychromatic IPS e.max Press Multi material.* In addition
to the unique benefits of the ingot, the restorations made with IPS e.max Press Multi can
accommodate different cementation protocols: Depending on the indication, the restorations
can be placed with adhesive, self-adhesive or conventional cementation materials.
* A software update is available for the Programat EP 3000 and EP 5000 furnaces and for the EP 3010 and EP 5010 units that have already been supplied to the market.
