During his visit, Müller also took the time to familiarise him- self with the upcoming construction of the 46-storey Estrel Tower, which will feature some 800 hotel rooms, as well as an office space and premium event areas. The Estrel Berlin was honored to be the recipi-ent of the bronze award in the category of ”Best Overseas Conference Center“ last week at this year‘s ”M&IT Awards“ in London. The ”M&IT Awards“, the oldest established awards programme in the meetings industry, recognise and reward excellence, and are the result of voting by the readers of Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine. The black tie gala, hosted by BBC presenter Kate Silverton returning as Mi-stress of Ceremonies, was attended by more than 1,200 event industry professionals. Repre-senting the entire Estrel team, International Sales Manager Diane Pentaleri-Otto (photo) and International Sales Representative Sina Ehresmann were present to receive the award.
Das Estrel Berlin wurde Ende Februar mit dem bron-zenen „M&IT Award 2016“ in der Kategorie „Best Overseas Conference Center“ ausgezeichnet. Bei dem Leservoting der führenden britischen Kongress-Fachzeitschrift „Meeting & Incentive Travel“ werden alljährlich die besten Geschäftsadressen der Welt geehrt. In der Endrunde lies das Estrel Berlin dabei hochkarätige internationale Locations wie das RAI Amsterdam, das Dubai World Trade Centre und The Grimaldi Forum Monaco hinter sich. Mit dem Gold-Award wurde 2016 das Convention Centre Dublin geehrt; die Auszeichnung in Silber ging an das CCIB – Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona. Die Auszeichnungen wurden in London bei einem Galaabend überreicht: Für das Estrel Berlin nahmen International Sales Manager Diane Pentaleri- Otto (Foto) und International Sales Representative Sina Ehresmann den Preis entgegen.

“SLEEP FOR FIT“ – THE ESTREL HOSTS GERMANY‘S FIRST TRADE FAIR FOR SLEEP
Insbesondere in Großstädten suchen die Menschen im-mer öfter nach Ruhe, Erholung und Entschleunigung. Doch wie findet man diese im eigenen Schlaf zimmer? Die „sleep for fit – Die Messe für erholsames Schlafen und ein gesundes Leben“, die vom 15. bis 17. April im Estrel Berlin Premiere feiert, liefert darauf Antworten und Lösungsvorschläge.
Das Thema der neuen Publikumsmesse trifft den Zahn der Zeit, denn Schlaf und Gesundheit liegen in einer immer hektischer werdenden Gesellschaft mehr im Trend denn je. Ob Schlaftracking per Fitnessband, Einschlafhilfen mittels App oder wärme-regulierende Bettwäsche: Seit Jahren werden neue Gadgets rund um das Thema Schlafen entwickelt. Über diese und andere Themen werden sich die Messe besucher bei mehr als 80 Ausstellern infor-mieren können. Begleitet wird die Veranstaltung von über 50 Vorträgen, unter anderem über die Auswir-kungen von Fluglärm auf den Schlaf, Lösungen gegen Schnarchen, die Vereinbarkeit von Schichtarbeit und erholsamen Schlaf sowie das Restless-Leg-Syndrom. Making its debut at the Estrel Berlin from 15 to 17 April, ”sleep for fit“ – the trade fair for restful sleep and a healthy life, addresses that very question and offers solutions for making this dream a reality.
As the world becomes an increasingly hectic place, sleep and health are more in focus than ever, ma-king this new public trade fair an especially timely one. From fitness watches that track sleep cycles to apps and thermoregulatory linens that help

Mehr noch: Inspiriert vom Prinzip des „Poetry Slams“ werden die Experten einen „Sleep Science Slam“ veranstalten und auf kurzweilige Art neueste Schlaferkenntnisse erklären. Als Gastredner sind neben Prof. Dr. Ingo Fietze, Leiter des Interdisziplinären Schlafmedizinischen Zentrums der Charité Berlin, und Prof. Dr. Peter Young, Direktor der Klinik für Schlafmedizin und Neuromuskuläre Erkrankungen am Universitäts klini-kum Münster, weitere Redner aus den Bereichen Schlafmedizin, Psychologie sowie Gesundheits- und Ernährungsberatung geladen.
Häufigste Ursachen von schlechtem Schlaf sind Hektik und Stress, aber auch falsche Ernährung. Fehlende Konzentration und Unausgeglichenheit bis hin zu ge-sundheitlichen Störungen können die Folge sein. Viele Gründe, um sich intensiver mit dem Thema zu befassen. Es lohnt sich, denn eine gute Schlafgesundheit führt nicht nur zu einem besseren Körpergefühl, sondern auch zu erhöhter Leistungsfähigkeit. Die „sleep for fit“ bietet substanzielle Informationen darüber, wie man durch Sport, Ernährung und Wellness seinen Schlaf verbessern kann. „Es geht dabei um mehr als nur Betten und Matratzen“, betont Projektleiter Manuel Wrobel. „Wir wollen auf Seiten der Verbraucher vor allem mehr Vertrauen für die Produkte und Hersteller schaffen. Ande-rerseits geben wir Herstellern die Möglichkeit, sich mit Kunden auszutauschen und auf deren Bedürfnisse ein-zugehen, vielleicht sogar Produkte weiter zu entwickeln.“
Mit der „sleep for fit“ tritt das Estrel erstmals als Veran-stalter einer eigenen Messe im neuen Estrel Congress &
Messe Center auf. Seit Herbst 2014 arbeitet Wrobel mit seinen Kolleginnen Katja Berger und Janine Haßler aus der Abteilung „New Business/Fairs“ an der Realisierung von hauseigenen Messen. Neben der „sleep for fit“ hat das Team noch weitere Pläne für die Messe-Zukunft des Estrel: „Wir analysieren Märkte, recherchieren Trendthemen, gewichten Nachfrage und Angebot. Aber alle Bereiche die wir analysieren, bewegen sich außer-halb der Themenfelder unserer Kunden. Unser Ziel ist es spezialisierte Veranstaltungsformate zu entwickeln, die es in der Form noch nicht gibt.“

The fair will also feature more than 50 presentations touching on topics such as the impact of aircraft noise on sleep, solutions for sno-ring, reconciling shift work with sleep patterns, get-ting a good night‘s rest and living with restless leg syndrome, among others. Sleep experts as well as counsellors from Sleep Academy Berlin will be availa-ble to take questions and engage in one-on-one dis-cussions. As a fun bonus, experts will organise a “sleep science slam“ modelled after the “poetry slam“ to present the latest findings on sleep in a highly enter-taining manner. Guest speakers will include Dr. Ingo
Fietze, head of the Charité Berlin‘s Interdisciplinary Center of Sleep Medicine, and Dr. Peter Young, direc-tor of the Clinic for Sleep Medicine and Neuromuscu-lar Diseases at the University Hospital Münster. Other speakers from the fields of sleep medicine and psy-chology, as well as health and nutritional counselling, will round out a packed programme.
Whether unrestful sleep is the symptom of stress and an overly chaotic lifestyle or poor dietary habits, the consequences can be serious, from low concentration levels or bodily imbalances all the way to severe health disorders. What better reason to make this topic a pri-ority? A healthy sleep cycle leads to both a better-fee-ling body and increased performance – and vice versa. “sleep for fit“ provides in-depth information about how physical activity, diet and wellness can improve sleep. “This is about more than just beds and mattresses“, em-phasises project leader Manuel Wrobel. “On the one hand, we want to bring consumers face-to-face with products and manufacturers. On the other, we want to give manufacturers the opportunity to interact with their customers and respond to their needs – perhaps even gain insight into the future of their product lines“.
“sleep for fit“ will be the first trade fair organised and run by the Estrel at the new Congress & Messe Center. Alongside Katja Berger and Janine Haßler from the “New Business/Fairs“ department, Wrobel has been developing the in-house trade fair initiative since autumn 2014. In addition to “sleep for fit“, the team has big plans for the Estrel‘s trade fair future: “We‘re analysing markets, researching trending topics and weighing supply and demand. The areas we‘re looking into don‘t overlap with trade fairs already being organised by our customers. Our goal is to develop innovative and specialised programmes“.

Im Rahmen eines exklusiven Gala-Abends wurde im Oktober 2015 von der Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V. unter dem Motto „Eine Welt in Bewegung“ der Deutsche Logistik-Preis verliehen. Das Konzept scheint aufzugehen, denn die Anzahl der Caterings, die im vergangenen Jahr außerhalb des Estrel Berlin durchgeführt wurden, hat sich im Ver-gleich zum Vorjahr annähernd verdoppelt. Für 150 Caterings mit insgesamt mehr als 20.000 Gästen ent-wickelte das Team von Catering-Direktor Philipp Stieger 2015 unterschiedlichste Konzepte, die von Köchen, Servicekräften, Technikern und Logistikern selbst in den ungewöhnlichsten Locations gekonnt in Szene gesetzt wurden. „Wir verstehen uns als zuver-lässiger Komplettdienstleister und betreuen unsere Kunden vor, während und nach den Veranstaltungen“, sagt Stieger und ergänzt: „Die Liste der Einsatzorte reicht vom Sportlercatering im Olympiapark Berlin über Messecaterings auf der IFA, Konferenzen im Museum, Bordcatering im Zug bis hin zur Fan-Party anlässlich des Champions League Finales auf dem Vorfeld des Flughafen Tempelhof.“
Off-site catering has proven to be wildly popular: Compared to the previous year, the number of events hosted outside of the Estrel Berlin has nearly doubled. In 2015, catering director Philipp Stieger and his team whipped up an array of concepts for 150 catered events with over 20,000 total guests.
Thanks to the expert service of chefs, wait staff, tech-nicians and logistics coordinators, these concepts came to life in even the most unusual of locations. “We see ourselves as reliable full-service providers. We‘re total-ly in-tune with our customers‘ needs before, during and after their events“, says Stieger. “The locations and
types of events have varied widely. We‘ve catered for athletes at Olympiapark Berlin and at the IFA trade show. We‘ve done conferences hosted by museums and provided on-board service on trains. We even catered the Champions League fan party at the Tempelhof Airport park after the finals.“

Nachdem im vorletzten Jahr Familie Streletzki und das amerikanische Botschafter-Paar John B. und Kimberly M. Emerson zu einem Deutsch-Ameri kanischen Abend Gäste aus Wirtschaft und Politik geladen hatten, fand Ende 2015 wieder ein großes Fest statt. Gemeinsam mit Nicole Hackert und Bruno Brunnet von der Contemporary Fine Arts Galerie luden Ekkehard und Dr. Sigrid Streletzki im November zum „Greek and Roman Ball“ in das Estrel Berlin ein. 200 geladene Gäste folgten der Einladung und feierten bis tief in die Nacht inmitten antiker Tempel, Götterstatuen, efeuumrankten Säulen und einer Kerzen- und Blumen-pracht. Eine italienische Band sowie die Blues Brothers in griechischen Gewändern brachten die Stimmung zum Kochen und animierten die Gäste zum Sirtaki-Tanz. Kulinarisch bestückten Küchendirektor Peter Griebel und sein Team das Buffet mit griechisch-römischen Köstlichkeiten – darunter gefüllte Weinblätter, Artischocken, Trüffel-Tagliatelle aus dem Parmesanlaib sowie Spanferkel – und stimmte damit nicht nur die Götter gnädig.
Following in the footsteps of highly-acclaimed year-end events such as the German-American evening hosted alongside American ambassador John B. Emerson and his wife, Kimberly M. Emerson, the Streletzki family capped off 2015 by entertaining political and business luminaries alike at another festive gathering. Together with Nicole Hackert and Bruno Brunnet from the Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery, Ekkehard and Dr. Sigrid Streletzki welcomed guests to their „Greek and Roman Ball“, which took place at the Estrel Berlin last November. Amidst antique temples, statues of gods, ivy-covered columns and a dazzling display of candles and flowers, 200 distinguished guests revelled late into the night. An Italian band and special appearance
by the toga-sporting Blues Brothers set the evening‘s tone and even inspired guests to a rousing rendition of the sirtaki dance. Kitchen director Peter Griebel and his team prepared a lavish buffet with Greco-
Roman delicacies such as stuffed grape leaves, artichokes, truffle tagliatelle served in a hollowed-out parmesan wheel and suckling pig. It was a feast fit for the gods – and then some.

Die Beatles, Michael Jackson und Elvis sind Legenden. Für viele gehören die Songs der Fab Four, des King of Pop und des King of Rock‘n‘Roll zum Soundtrack ihres Lebens. Im Sommer stehen die Musikphänomene im Mittelpunkt der einzigartigen Showproduktionen des Estrel. Ab dem 29. Juni begeistert zunächst das interna-tional gefeierte Beatles-Musical „all you need is love!”. Es sind zwar nicht die Original-Pilzköpfe, doch das per-fekt aufeinander eingespielte Quartett steht den Origi-nalen in nichts nach. Optisch und gesanglich kommen sie John, Paul, George und Ringo erstaunlich nah und lassen mit ihrer Live-Show die Atmosphäre aufleben,
mit der die Beatles die Massen damals in ihren Bann gezogen haben. Wie ein Live-Auftritt von Michael Jackson aus gesehen hat, lässt sich in der Show „MICHAEL – A Tribute to the King of Pop: The Legacy Concert“ erleben, mit der „Stars in Concert“-Produzent Bernhard Kurz vom 28. Juli bis 21. August eine musika-lische Hommage an den größten Entertainer des 20. Jahrhunderts auf die Bühne des Estrel bringt. In der Show wird Michael Jackson von William Hall verkör-pert. Niemand ist weltweit so nah am Original wie Hall und wenn der US-Amerikaner die Nr.1-Hits wie „Billie Jean“, „Thriller“, „Beat It“ oder „You Are Not Alone“
singt, bekommt man Gänsehaut. Beein druckende Tanzchoreografien, aufwändige Kostüme, spektaku-läre Multimediaeffekte und Videoprojektionen machen diese Show zu einem einzigartigen Popkonzert. Ge-dacht als Hommage an einen Künstler, der die Musik-branche geprägt hat, bringt sie so das Phänomen Mi-chael Jackson auch Menschen nahe, die 1982 noch nicht auf der Welt waren als Jacksons Erfolgsalbum „Thriller“ erschien. In „Elvis – Das Musical“ lassen der international gefeierte Haupt-darsteller Grahame Patrick und das legendäre „The Stamps Quartet“ stimmgewaltig den King wieder auf-leben.
