Optimum protection with minimumspace required: an attractive benefit forapplications in wireless point-to-point orpoint-to-multipoint technology such asGSM, GPRS, UMTS, CDMA or WLANand in access technology (ADSL, SDSL,VDSL, FTTH). E-T-A is also able todesign, produce and supply suitableproducts for Metropolitan AreaNetworks, Long Haul transmissiontechnology, or internet connections suchas softswitch.

E-T-A products offer a wide range offeatures and benefits: as they areresettable they have a clear advantageover all other equipment protectionpossibilities, and they offer a highdegree of flexibility.

Hot swap capability.Many E-T-A circuit breakers are hot-swappable, i.e. they can be replaced withthe system live. It is therefore very easyto extend or modify an existing systemas new requirements arise. In addition,E-T-A circuit breakers have a very robustdesign which guarantees excellentenvironmental performance (shock,vibration, humidity). High quality preciousmetals and electro-plated parts andsubassemblies further contribute toreliability.

At E-T-A we recognise that no twoapplications are the same and thereforeensure that design engineers have a wideselection of possibilities to choose from.Different operating characteristic curvesare available to suit the needs of differentload conditions, and to avoid the risk ofunwanted operation due to in-rushcurrents and transients.

Severe environmental conditions – not a problem.Applications in the communicationsindustry often involve extreme climaticconditions or temperatures. These canbe disastrous to less able protectivedevices but, due to their robust design,E-T-A circuit breakers can survive in theseverest conditions.They are therefore not only well suitedto installation in air-conditioned fixednetworks, but also in mobile basestations where extremes of temperaturecan be experienced.

Racks provide a modular protectionand wiring approach and thus offersophisticated and future-proof solutionswhen it comes to reducing cost in powerdistribution. The compact design of rack19BGT2 (2U and 84 modular spacings)is manufactured from aluminium profileand has a highly durable anodised frontplate. The front cut-out allows the quickand easy accommodation of 30 plug-inpositions, even with the system live.Blanking pieces are available for anyslots not immediately required.

Other E-T-A solutions include the rack19BGT2 which can be fitted with E-T-Acircuit breakers type 8340, 8345,3600/3900, 2210 or the SSRPC E-1048-600. The devices are plugged into E-T-Asockets type 63-P10-Si (six positions)installed in the rack. Other available space-saving solutions incorporate 19” rackswith 3U and a maximum of 60 circuitbreakers or with 1U and a maximum of12 circuit breakers.

Power distribution system X8340-SSystematic supply, protection and distribution.

Power distribution systems seriesX8340-S are excellent examples of E-T-A’scapabilities in system solutions. In mobileradio stations, transmission or exchangetechnology these distribution rails allowsystematic and cost-effective powerdistribution and at the same professionalprotection of the complete system.Clever design detail, such as theprevention of polarity reversal of theload output, reduces the risk of systemfailure in the first place.

Ease of wiring and maintenance andcompact design are features of X8340-Spower distribution systems. Spring-loaded terminals allow quick connectioneven when space is at a premium.

The hydraulic-magnetic circuit breakertype 8340 is largely insensitive toextremes in temperature. In the desertor at the North Pole, this temperature-stable circuit breaker will provide reliableprotection.

An integral arc arrester and high rupturecapacity are other features achieved in avery compact and robust design.

Additionally the type 8340 meets therequirements of the US communicationstandard UL489A.

E-T-A’s Module 17plus is a new powerdistribution system which offers significantsafety, flexibility and time saving benefitsboth during initial installation and routinemaintenance. All cable connections are viaspring-loaded terminals. Connection ofthe feed is by means of plug-in distributionbusbars. Module 17plus also has integralbus connections for auxiliary contactfunctions. The electronic circuit breaker seriesESSxx selectively protects all 24 V DCand 48 V DC load circuits through acombination of active electronic currentlimitation and well-proven circuit breakertechnology with physical isolation atDC 24 V. With a width of only 12.5 mmthe ESS20 can be plugged into powerdistribution system Module 17plus,ensuring ease of installation and asignificant reduction in wiring time.

The ESSxx will facilitate connection ofcapacitive loads, and will disconnect inthe event of an overload or short circuit.

The electronic voltage monitor E-1079-600/601 performs an often vital function incontrol cabinets. It is designed to monitorAC or DC voltages and to provide a signalin the event of a fluctuation beyond a presettolerance range. Two LEDs indicate relaystatus and an opto coupler output providesa physically isolated signal. There is noneed for an additional power supply as theE-1079-600/601 is powered by the input itis monitoring.
