This manual describes the content pack that is used with VMware® vRealize™ Log Insight™ for analyzing logsof the FUJITSU Storage ETERNUS DX60 S3/DX100 S3/DX200 S3, ETERNUS DX500 S3/DX600 S3, ETERNUSDX8100 S3/DX8700 S3/DX8900 S3, and ETERNUS DX200F.

This chapter provides an overview of ETERNUS Content Pack for VMware vRealize Log Insight.

1.1 About ETERNUS Content Pack for VMware vRealize Log Insight

ETERNUS Content Pack for VMware vRealize Log Insight is a content pack for analyzing syslog formatted eventlogs and audit logs that are sent to VMware vRealize Log Insight.

By importing the content pack to VMware vRealize Log Insight, the following functions are added.

• Dashboard• Alert• Query

ETERNUS Content Pack for VMware vRealize Log Insight is available after it is imported to VMware vRealizeLog Insight. Each log is sent from the ETERNUS DX to VMware vRealize Log Insight and logs are displayedusing VMware vRealize Log Insight.VMware vRealize Log Insight is operated via a web browser on the client terminal.

Operating Environment

This chapter explains the requirements for using ETERNUS Content Package for VMware vRealize Log Insight.

2.1 Required Hardware

Installation

This chapter explains how to install ETERNUS Content Pack for VMware vRealize Log Insight.

3.1 Installing the Content Pack

Refer to "Import a Content Pack" in "VMware vRealize Log Insight User's Guide" to import an ETERNUS ContentPack.Select "Install as content pack" as the import method.

3.2 How to Set Up the ETERNUS DX

Set the ETERNUS DX so that the event logs and the audit logs are notified to VMware vRealize Log Insight.Perform the setting via Web GUI or CLI.Refer to "ETERNUS Web GUI User's Guide (Settings)" or "ETERNUS CLI User's Guide" for details about the setupprocedure.

The following procedure shows a setting example using Web GUI.

Procedure

1 From [System] > [Event/Dump] > [Setup Event Notification], select the syslog type that is to be notified to Log Insight.

2 From [System] > [Network] > [Setup Syslog], register the syslog server (or the Log Insight environment) that is to be used as a notification destination.Set the following parameters.

• Send Log"on(RFC3164)" or "on(RFC5424)"

• Domain Name / IP AddressIP address of the VMware vRealize Log Insight server

• Port No.514

• LAN PortLAN port that is used to send syslogs

3 From [System] > [Audit Log] > [Enable Audit Log], enable the audit log notification.

4 From [System] > [Audit Log]> [Setup Audit Log], register the syslog server (or the Log Insight environment) that is to be used as a notification destination.Set the following parameters.

• Send Audit Log"on(RFC3164)" or "on(RFC5424)"

• Domain Name / IP AddressIP address of the VMware vRealize Log Insight server

• Port No.514

• LAN PortLAN port that is used to send syslogs

Uninstallation

This chapter explains how to uninstall ETERNUS Content Pack for VMware vRealize Log Insight.

4.1 Uninstalling the Content Pack

Select "Uninstall" from the content pack. Refer to "Uninstall a Content Pack" in "VMware vRealize Log InsightUser's Guide" for details.

4.2 Deleting the ETERNUS DX Settings

Delete the contents that are set in "3.2 How to Set Up the ETERNUS DX" (page 15).

5.2 Problem

Problem shows the syslog information that is notified when an error or a warning state occurs. The followingfive widgets and queries are available.

5.6 Recovered from bad status

Recovered from bad status shows the syslog information that is notified when the ETERNUS DX recovers froman error or a warning state. The following three widgets are available.

1 Temperature of FE/CE/DE changed to normal

Displays the event logs that are notified with the temperature restoration for the frontend enclo-sures (FE), the controller enclosures (CE), and the drive enclosures (DE).


2 Power Supply Unit status changed to normal

Displays the event logs that are notified when the power supply unit is recovered.


3 CM/EXP/FEM/IOM status changed to normal

Displays the event logs that are notified when the controller modules (CM), the SAS expanders (EXP), the fan expander modules (FEM) for high-density DEs, and the I/O modules (IOM) are recovered.

7 fujitsu_eternus: Temperature error or warning occurred

An event log alert that is notified when a temperature error or a temperature warning occurs in the ETERNUS DX.

8 fujitsu_eternus: Bad data or pinned data was created An event log alert that is notified when bad data or pinned data is generated.

9 fujitsu_eternus: The failure or degeneration of parts occurred

An event log alert that is notified when a drive failure or module failure occurs.

10 fujitsu_eternus: Allocated FTRP capacity exceeded An event log alert that is notified when a capacity warning occurs in the Flexible Tier Pool.

11 fujitsu_eternus: The usage rate of copy table exceeded the threshold

An alert that is related to the copy table usage rate.

12 fujitsu_eternus: Remote copy error occurred An event log alert that is notified when a remote copy error occurs.

The following three types of queries are available.

7.1 Favorite Queries

The following four queries are registered in the favorite queries by default.

The following 13 queries are included in "Problem" of the dashboard.

1 Bad data or pinned data A query for an event log that is notified when bad data or pinned data is generated.

2 Not ready A query for an event log that is notified when the ETERNUS DX is in the Not Ready state.

3 Temperature error or warning occurred A query for an event log that is notified when a temperature error or the a temperature warning occurs in the ETERNUS DX.

4 REC Buffer HALT occurred A query for an event log that is notified when HALT is detected in the REC Buffer.

5 Redundant Copy problem occurred A query for an event log that is related to the redundant copy process.

6 SED network problem occurred A query for an event log that is notified when an error occurs in the network connection of the key management server for SEDs.

7 Storage Cluster problem occurred A query for an event log that is related to the Storage Cluster.

8 Virus error or warning occurred A query for an event log that is notified when a virus is detected or when an error related to the virus scan occurs.

9 Extra system volume problem occurred A query for an event log that is notified when an expanded system volume is in the error state.

10 Battery expiration problem occurred A query for an event log that is related to the battery's expiration date.

11 Remote Copy Path Not Available A query for an event log that is notified when a remote path error occurs in REC.

12 The trial license will expire or has expired A query for an event log that is related to the copy trial license's expiration date.

13 No free space on ODX Buffer Volume A query for an event log that is notified when the free space in the ODX Buffer volume is insufficient.
