Thrasher magazine’s King of the Rad At-Home Challenge is your chance to bust and film the same tricks that the pros are trying to do on the King of the Road right now. The four skaters who land the most tricks and send us the footage win shoes for a year from Etnies, Nike SB, C1RCA, and Converse.

You’ve got until the end of the King of the Road to post your clips—Monday, Oct 11th, at 11:59 pm.

King of the Rad Rules

Contestants must film and edit their own videos

The individual skater who earns the most points by landing and filming the most KOTR tricks, wins

Hard tricks are worth 20 points

Harder tricks are worth 30 points

Hardest tricks are worth 50 points

Fucked-Up tricks are worth 150 points (not available for some terrain)

You can perform tricks from any category. The most points overall wins

The top four skaters will be awarded the prize of free shoes for a year (that’s 12 pairs) from Nike SB, Converse, Etnies, and C1RCA

All non-professional skaters are eligible to compete

Deadline for posting footage is Oct. 11th, 11:59 pm

Judging will be done by Jake Phelps, & acceptance of sketchy landings, etc will be at his discretion

Meet the challenges to the best of your abilities and understanding. Any ambiguities in the wording of the challenges are unintentional. The most obvious answer is usually the correct one

THE RULES

CONSENT, RELEASE, AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT

THIS CONSENT, RELEASE, AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT (“Release”) is entered into by you, the participant in the King of the Rad contest, in favor of High Speed Productions, a California limited liability company, and each of its members, managers, employees, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”).

NOW, THEREFORE, as an inducement for the HSP to permit the undersigned to participate in the King of the Rad contest, the undersigned represents, warrants and agrees as follows:

Hazardous Activity. I AM AWARE AND UNDERSTAND THAT THE SPORT OF SKATEBOARDING IS AN INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS ACTIVITY, AND I AM VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN SUCH ACTIVITY. I am aware and understand that I may sustain serious, permanent bodily injury and disability or death as a result of skateboarding, or I may seriously injure or kill a third person during the course of skateboarding.

I HEREBY AGREE TO ACCEPT AND ASSUME ANY AND ALL RISKS OF INJURY (INCLUDING PERMANENT BODILY INJURY AND DISABILITY), ILLNESS, OR DEATH TO MYSELF AND TO ALL OTHER PERSONS, AND ALL FINANCIAL LOSSES, INJURY, DAMAGES, DESTRUCTION, AND LOSS ARISING FROMMY PARTICIPATION IN THE KING OF THE RAD CONTEST, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCEOF ANY OF THE RELEASED PARTIES OR OTHERWISE.

Representations and Warranties Regarding Experience in Skateboarding. I represent and warrant to the Released Parties that I have many years of experience in the sport of skateboarding, including participating in skateboarding as a competitive sport for profit or compensation. I am providing my own skateboard and other equipment. I further understand that I should wear proper safety equipment at all times while skateboarding, including, without limitation, a helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads, and that it is my responsibility, and not the responsibility of the Released Parties, to see to it that I comply with this recommendation. I further understand and agree that I, and not the Released Parties, am responsible for verifying that any skateboard or other equipment that I use is in safe condition and good repair.

AGREEMENT NOT TO SUE

I HEREBY AGREE THAT NEITHER I NOR MY HEIRS, DISTRIBUTEES, GUARDIANS, LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES, AND ASSIGNS WILL MAKE A CLAIM AGAINST, SUE, DEMAND COMPENSATION OR INDEMNITY FROM, OR ATTACH ANY OF THE PROPERTY OR ASSETS OF, THE RELEASED PARTIES, and each of them, for any loss or damage arising or resulting from any bodily injury, disability, death, financial loss, property loss, damage, or destruction, or other harm of whatever nature, whether foreseen or unforeseen, that may be sustained or suffered by me or any other person as a direct or indirect consequence of my participation, or the participation of any other person, in the King of the Rad contest, whether caused by the negligence of any of the Released Parties or otherwise; other than the intentional misconduct of any Released Party.

RELEASE. On behalf of myself, and my heirs, guardians, legal representatives, and assigns, I HEREBY RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE THE RELEASED PARTIES, AND EACH OF THEM, FROM ALL CLAIMS, ACTIONS, DEMANDS, RIGHTS, CAUSES OF ACTION, AND LIABILITIES, EITHER IN LAW OR IN EQUITY, based on any bodily injury, disability, death, financial loss, property loss, damage, or destruction, or other harm of whatever nature, whether foreseen or unforeseen, that may be sustained or suffered by me or by any other person as a direct or indirect consequence of my participation in the King of the Rad contest, whether caused by the negligence of any of the Released Parties or otherwise other than the intentional misconduct of any Released Party. I expressly waive all rights under Section 1542 of the Civil Code of the State of California which provides:

“A general release does not extend to claims which the creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release, which if know by him or her must have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor.”

Other Representations and Warranties. I represent and warrant that: (a) I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE CAREFULLY, AND I FULLY UNDERSTAND ALL OF ITS TERMS AND PROVISIONS; (b) I am 18 years of age or older and am legally competent to enter into this Release; (c) no promise, inducement, or agreement has been offered or made to me in connection with my execution and delivery of this Release, (d) I have knowingly and voluntarily executed and delivered this release at my own risk and initiative and by my own free will, without relying on any statement or representation of any released party, and with such knowledge have voluntarily consented to being participating in the King of the Rad contest; and (e) I understand and appreciate the significance of each and every section of this Release.

I UNDERSTAND AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS AGREEMENT IS A RELEASE OF LEGAL LIABILITY. IN THE EVENT OF ANY LITIGATION, THIS AGREEMENT MAY BE RAISED AS A DEFENSE AND BAR TO, AND AS A WAIVER AND RELEASE OF, LEGAL RIGHTS THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE BE ASSERTED BY ME OR BY MY HEIRS, DISTRIBUTEES, GUARDIANS, LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES, AND ASSIGNS.

Severability. If one or more provisions of this Release are held to be unenforceable under applicable law, each such unenforceable provision shall be excluded from this Release, and the balance of this Release shall be interpreted as if each such unenforceable provision were excluded, and the balance of this Release as so interpreted shall be enforceable in accordance with its terms.
