Integrated Threat Management r8.0

Main Licensing Guidelines

• The ITM r8, eTrust Antivirus r8 and eTrust Pest Patrol r8 software require a main installation to be performed before any agents and/or redistribution servers can be licensed

• You will need to select a machine that you wish to appoint as the Administrator machine for the software

• 25-character license keys should only be used for main installations on Administrator machines

• Agent machines and Redistribution Servers require a different type of installation and are licensed differently

• You will not be using the 25-character license keys when installing and licensing on Agent machines and/or Redistribution Servers

• The licenses are carried down from the Administrator machine to the Agent machines either directly or through a Redistribution Server

• The 25-character key(s) are applied on the Administrator only• The license is carried down from the Administrator to its own agents and to any redistribution servers

available so they can pass it on to any other agents that need to be licensed

Example of a small environment with no main server• You will need to appoint one of the machines as the Administrator machine and perform a main installation

entering the 25-character license key(s)

• The other machines will require an Agent installation and will retrieve the license from the Administrator machine

Licensing an Administrator Machine

• When installing the software on the selected Administrator Machine (Admin Server/Main Installation Machine) you will be prompted for a license key

• You can enter your 25-character license key(s) here or bypass this step to install a 30-day trial version by selecting “Next”

• When selecting the installation type, please make sure to tick the option for ITM Server as shown below

How to license if a trialversion has been installed

• Go to the eTrust ITM Console as shown

• The ITM Console looks like this:

• Select the Licensing tab• Select Activate a key

• This will bring you to the screen below.• You’ll be able to enter a 25-character key here• Please fill out the entire form to fully register the license• Don’t forget to enter the exact start date you want your license to come into effect• Make sure you have an active Internet connection during this step as the information will be uploaded to a CA server to complete the licensing and registration of the software

Licensing an Agent machine

• When installing the software on an agent machine, make sure to bypass the screen requesting a 25-character license key as this should have already been used on the admin server/main installation machine

• Continue to install the software as a trial version• You will be able to fully license the software after the trial installation is completed

• When selecting the installation type, please make sure to tick the option for Agent as shown below

Once the trial version is installed

• Go to the ITM agent by right-clicking on the Realtime Monitor Icon your taskbar

• You can also access the ITM agent as shown below

• Select the Advanced tab• Select the Licensing option

• You will now need to import the license file from the Admin Server/Main Installation Machine to the agent

• The license file is license.xml and is located on the admin server/main installation machine

• The path is x:/program files/ca/shared components/subscription license/license.xml

• Select “apply” and your agent will now be fully licensed

• NOTE: If the Agent machine does not have a connection with the Administrator machine you will need to copy the license.xml file from the Administrator and paste it into the Agent machine

• The location to paste the file on the Agent machine is: x:/program files/ca/shared components/subscription license/license.xml• You will then need to go to the above window, enter the path where you pasted the file and select “apply” to fully license the Agent

Licensing a Distribution Server

• The installation procedure is the same as the Agent except you will need to select Distribution Server as the installation type
