5G & The Energy Vertical
•What are the challenges that utilities face with 5G?•What are the opportunities?• Is the convergence of IoT, IoE and 5G deployment the tipping point for Massive M2M connectivity?
• What will the impact on telecommunications be, especially in the utility sector?

Is the convergence of IoT, IoE and 5G deployment the tipping point for Massive M2M connectivity?
•Whole Systems Analysis• Adjoining Energy Vectors – Heating, Cooling, Hydrogen, Gas, etc.
• Adjoining Energy Usage Sectors – Transport, Industry, Residential, Retail, Commerce, Health, Wearables, etc.
• Omnipresent Communications: connected at all times, Everywhere, To Everything (IoE)

Governance, Standards and the Market
• The pace of change is challenging governments, regulation, physical infrastructure and commercial business models
• Massive deployment of M2M in all sectors, segments and walks of life is likely and uncontrollable in a free market
• How much is coordinated across the whole system is dependent on designed governance frameworks, system architecture, standards and compliance

Flexibility, Optionality and Agility will be the key to telecoms deployment• Commercial versus Private infrastructure• Sharing Data – Open or Closed• Efficient or Economic – the driver will require different solutions
• How long will transitions take: 2G, 2.5G, 3G, 4G, 5G….• Most utility infrastructure is planned over 20 to 40 years…….
