Sally, Philip and Nick had a dream about making a better Hong Kong when they were small. Will their dreams come true in 2025? How would you make Hong Kong a better place to stay and visit? Let’s check it out with Dodo. Key Stage 1 Learning Targets To develop an ever-improving capability to use English ~ to converse about feelings, interest and experiences (IS.b) ~ to give expression to one’s experience through activities such as describing and /or providing captions for them (ES.d) Communicative function 1. Identify common plants and sea creatures and give simple descriptions, e.g., Bauhinia, Cotton tree, coral reefs, garoupa, etc. 2. Identify names of places in Hong Kong such as Central, Mongkok, Cruise Terminal, etc. 3. Learn about the vocabulary related to winter activities such as skating, skiing, ice sculptures, etc. Suggested activities 1. Ask pupils to imagine what they will look like in ten years’ time. Brainstorm ideas. 2. Ask the class what Hong Kong will be like in ten years’ time. Teacher may draw their attention to the environment, the weather, the people, etc. 3. in 2025. Is it a better Hong Kong? When the characters talk about the present (2025), and the past (before 2025) in the programme, pupils should notice the use of present tense and past tense of verbs in describing things.

6. When Philip, Sally, and Nick talked about their dreams of making a better Hong Kong, they were only children.

7. When Philip, Sally, and Nick reappear in 2025, they are all grown- ups doing different jobs, having made Hong Kong a better place for all.

8. After watching the programme, distribute COPYMASTER 1 Part 1 to pupils. Ask them to match the jobs with the right people.
