Students from Poland, Greece, France and Spain set out on an intergalactic journey
and discovered a new planet – the eTwinning planet...what will they find there and how
will they manage without adults ( I had an unfortunate car accident while going to meet
them and ended up in hospital, fortunately it was just a broken leg...)
Before setting out the students made a list of indispensable items. They are taking:
- a spaceship with strong windows, an emergency exit, bedrooms, a kitchen, and a toilet,
- instructions for the spaceship, in case it should break,
- rocket fuel,
- space-suits, helmets, oxygen tanks, heavy boots (so they don't float away), and a jet-pack,
- food and drinks,
- a parachute and a strong rope,
They designed their space-suits and the ship.
They also drew the take off of their spaceship.
They set out into the unknown...What will they encounter during their journey?
Crews from other countries set out before them. On their way to the eTwinning planet they
had many adventures, like meeting Martians:
After their arrival on the eTwinning planet, children from partner countries discovered a
vast desert and a huge lake. They had to build ships, test the atmosphere, find drinking
water...They also met two inhabitants of the planet – Blup and Blip, who live in an
underwater city at the bottom of the lake, and are amphibians.
Our journey to the eTwinning planet...
The mission is very dangerous due to the distance between the Earth and the
eTwinning planet. However, no student is afraid. The journey is suposed to last about a
month. On the first day all systems are running smoothly, we have enough fuel, food, and
water for at least two months. All the students are excited and full of anticipation.
The first weird sygnals were heard while still in orbit, first they could hardly be heard
but the further away from Earth the students got, the stronger and better they could hear
them. Paweł said that they reminded him of something...Amelia reasoned that it might be
some kind of intergalactic music, that might be transmitted to make the journey more
pleasant? Amelia's sister, Zuzia, added that she was keen to dance to the music, and she
started dancing. … Suddenly Paweł shouted
– I know what that is! My grandpa told me that it is a way of communicating by Morse
alphabet! Yes, that must be it...but it is a bit strange.
He took a piece of paper and wrote down the letters as they were coming in. But what
was the weird word? All the children took turns to look at the word. Zuzia, who was last to
have a look, looked at it again under a bright light and upside-down, and something occured
to heri… she took out a mirror and read the word, the letters were weird but they were a
mirror reflection of our alphabet! They spelled:
… WELCOME…
– Eureka! - Zuzia shouted – someone sent us a message backwards...and invites us over!
– Hurray! Bravo! Bravo! - the other children shouted.
… Their happiness didn't last long… the spaship entered an asteriod belt…
The engine was damaged during an encounter with one of them. The children couldn't
fly so they floated in space. Just when they lost hope of continuing their journey an unknown
flying object, shaped like a ball, got near them. It looked a bit like a disco ball, it played
music and had many bright lights.
A weird, one-eyed, big eared and long legged creature called Flip emerged from the
disco ball ship and offered to take the students to his planet. They could Jupiter and a small
blue and green Earth from Flip's planet. They also met Flip's friend, Benek, who had long
horns, big hands, four eyes and a wide smile. The new friends showed the students their
planet and showed them how to slide down craters.
They also promised to help the children fix their spaceship and reach the eTwinning
planet if the students would dance with them. All the children were very happy to oblige and
danced „Gangam style”, which they all knew from their school dances. The aliens loved the
dance and fixed the engine, so the children could continue their journey.
… At some point Jaś looked out of the round, spaceship window and saw a planet that
looked like a reflection of our Earth.
– This must be the eTwinning planet - said Jaś.
Suddenly, the ship started shaking, tilting left and right...and sped up. The children noticed
that a ship passed them.
– It's a pirate ship! - noticed Artur.
The students started wondering what they should do since the pirate spaceship was
clearly blocking their way. They even started going off course, like if the pirates were
drawing them with some invisible force.
– They want to kidnap us! They have a magnet that is attracting our ship! - shouted
Tymoteusz.
The children got worried:
– What now? What now? - the girls lamented.
Fortunately, Filip and Wiktoria remembered that they also had a magnet on board, an
even bigger one that Filip got from his dad. It was initially taken on the trip in case there was
a problem with their coming back to Earth, then they could use the magnet. They could now
use it to defend against the pirates. So Weronika and Wiktoria rose up the magnet in the
direction of the pirates – but switched the sides. Almost instantly the pirate ship was pushed
back and soon it was so far away that it stopped being a nuisance. Alicja noticed that the
lights on the pirate ship went out and the ship itself stopped moving.
– Hit and destroyed! - said Alicja.
– We have defeated the pirates with their own weapon! They didn't even expect us to have a
magnet on board! - Kuba said proudly.
– Hurray! We must have destroyed their navigating equipment – said Adam.
– And good! Once we get to the eTwinning planet we will send someone to get them, and the
rascals will be dealt with! - announced Weronika.
Finally, after a 25 day long journey the children arrived on the eTwining planet. They
were expecting a big welcome, after all someone did send them an invite.
Leaving the spaceship Igor tripped and fell, and his helmet fell off his head! Everyone
gasped with terror but Igor got up, dusted himself off and smiled.
– The air is just like on Earth! We can breathe freely here! – exclaimed Kinga.
This place was different to all the other places the children had visited on their way.
From space the planet looked very Earth-like, but on surface they encountered a huge lake
and a desert, vast and beautiful despite the lack of plants.
They started thinking that no one could possibly live in such a place when Blip and Blup
appeared. They lived in a city at the bottom of the lake and were amphibians, but different to
those the children knew from school. They had arm-like flippers with membranes between
fingers, which allowed them to crawl on the bottom of the lake, and sometimes they came
ashore. They were both very friendly and the children went to the lake with them.
There they decided that a boat needed to be built and also they would need to find drinking
water, Blip and Blup generously shared some water with them, but they ran out during their
journey and it needed to be replaced. Planning how to build a boat took a very long time but
fortunately Miłosz had a brilliant idea. They needed two logs, a rope, a branch shaped like a
catapult and a board. The children tied the two logs togeter, put in the catapult-shaeped
branch and the board and sailed across the lake.
On the other side of the lake they found mountains and winter! The boys volounteered
to leave the boat first, worried about the girls, who were supposed to stay in the boat for a
while. The boys started climbing a mountain when the girls couldn't wait any longer, jumped
out of the boat themselves, and caught up with the boys. They all continued up the mountain
together.
They came across a frozen lake and crossing it was a lot of fun: every so often
someone fell over and everybody laughed out loud. It was a good thing that they still had
their helmets on as they never thought to bring their warm hats. However, Filip got across
the lake in one big slide – on his belly and broke the record for sliding! The fun seemed to be
neverending.
Later, the girls wanted to go right and the boys left but Szymon shouted that he could
see footprints in the snow, and they all decided to follow them.
They could see a beautiful blue light in the middle of mountain tops and soon they
reached the foot of a high and steep mountain. In front of her, Ewa could see something
weird- a huge, shining, crystal-like door seemed to lead into the mountain. It must have been
this door which gave off that beautiful light!
They were so distracted by their discovery that they forgot about staying safe for a moment
and...that moment was enough for an accident to happen and one of them broke a leg. They
all tried calling for help but the emergency number 112 didn't work. That's how they met
another inhabitant of this weird planet and the owner of the weird tracks in the snow – Blim.
He was running here and there, jumping and making weird gestures...
It turned out later that it was a welcome dance! The alien had two long arms, a red face, and
green hair. He invited them to his cave. He was absolutely sure that his planet was the
friendliest planet in the entire universe. To prove it he decided to organise a ball with his two
friends - Blip and Blup. A ball for all their friends from their mirror planet – Earth.
– It's going to be a space party that you will always remember, we've been waiting for you! -
he said.
The students of class 1B met all the other children from all the other countries there,
and although they didn't speak each others' languages they could understand each other
perfectly.
They had heaps of fun and tried many delicious things – yummy space cakes, a
thousand flavours of ice-cream, colourful cream-cakes, chocolate fountains, fruit jellies.
Finally, they were taken to wonderous rooms where beds, duvets, and pillows were made out
of cotton candy. Everyone had such beautiful dreams after the party that smiles appeared on
their sleeping faces.
Well rested, the kids went sight-seeing to the underwater city, where Blip and Blup
lived.
They couldn't say what they loved more – the sweet land of Blim or the hidden land of
Blip and Blup. But they didn't forget to invite their new friends to Poalnd.
The children went back to their spaceship and set off home, they started to miss their
parents and the Earth. Fortunately, their way back was peaceful. After returning they went to
visit their teacher at the hospital. She was feeling a lot better and was extremely proud when
she heard about their adventures.
It was a wonderful journey to the eTwinning planet, full of unforgettable adventures.
