A bus connection will be provided between the city center of Alicante and the pitches.
Buses will leave between 08.00 and 09.30 each 15 minutes from Plaza de los Luceros and Hotel Melia.
Saturday afternoon, buses will serve both stops between 16.30 and 18.15

A local NGO for the homeless. Donations given during the tournament will go to this NGO.
Alicante is a city in the South-East of Spain, with approx. 325.000 inhabitants. The name of the city echoes the Arabic name Laqant (تْنَقَل) or Al-Laqant (تْنَقَلَلأ), which in turn reflects the Latin word Lucentum. From the 5th century, the region of Alicante was under the control of the Visigoths; in the 8th century, it became part of the Medina Laqant. The city of Alicante was reconquered by King Alfonso X on Sant Barbaras day (4 December) 1246. The area of Alicante is inhabited since over 7000 years. It hosts the 2016 edition of the →EUAFT
A dish of rice cooked in fish stock, typical of the coastal area of Alicante and distinct from Paella, the typical dish from Valencia.
The Award Ceremony will start immediately after the finals on Sunday, at approx. 16.30.
Bracelets will be distributed to identify all players (blue), guests (yellow) and volunteers (orange). Please wear them at all times.
A bus connection will be provided between the city center of Alicante and the pitches.

Enjoy the shade of the numerous & enormous ficus trees.
A short captain’s briefing will be held on Friday, 20.30 at Bar La Piazza, Plaza del Abad Penalva. Presence is not compulsory.During the tournament, there will be plenty of possibilities to support →Acogida, a local NGO for the homeless which works in close collaboration with the local government.
The main church of Alicante was completed in 1662. It was built on the remains of a mosque and has a wonderful blue dome which rises 45 meters high.
During the entire two days, medical doctors will be present at the pitches.
EUAFT stands for the European Union Agency Football Tournament. Since its first tournament held in Lisbon in 2011, it has become the best and most prestigious football tournament worldwide. It is based on five principles, →Fair Play, →Integrity, →Respect, →Excellence and →Solidarity
The acronym stands for the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Host of the 2016 EUAFT tournament.
Sport engages us in a collective effort to pursue human excellence whilerepresenting our EU Agencies. One of the five 5 → EUAFT principles.
This maritime promenade runs parallel to the port, from the →Puerta del Mar to Canalejas Park and is one of the most popular areas in →Alicante.

To enjoy the fruits of success it is not enough to win. Triumph must absolutely be achieved through fair means and through honest and just play. Victory must go together with fair play.One of the five 5 →EUAFT principles.

A sport played normally by 11 enthusiasts in one team, all of them running behind one ball. As any rules need an exception, during the Alicante 2016 tournament only 7 players will be allowed on the pitch.
Fruit will be provided during the tournament.
Size of the goals is 21ft by 7ft (6,04m by 2,13m)
On Sunday, Alicante will host also a Half Marathon. The event starts at 09.30 am. Partly, the city centre will not be accessible by cars in the morning.
Traditional and very popular festival in Alicante, which ends on 24 June. It is a must for anyone who likes to party.

Please respect the kick-off times of all matches and be - not only on time - but even 10 min early to warm-up.
Lucentum is the name of the Roman predecessor of the city of →Alicante. It refers in particular to the archaeological site in which the remains of this ancient settlement lie, at a place known as El Tossal de Manises, in the neighborhood of Albufereta. You may reach it with the →Tram lines, L1, L3 and L4.
A nice place in the centre of Alicante, which hosts Mascleta festivities during the → ”Hogueras of San Juan”, in June, for 5 consecutive days. Beginning and end meeting point of one of our two bus lines.
On Saturday, lunch bags will be offered to all players for free. On Sunday, a giant → arroz a banda will be offered to all players and family members for a minimal donation to our →charity.
Marmarela Mediterranean Cocktail Club is the location of the social event on Saturday evening. It is located on Muelle Levante and can be reached by foot easily.

Fruit which grows in the Alicante area. A player intentionally plays the ball between an opponent’s legs, runs past the opponent, and collects his own pass.
Spanish acronym for the →EUIPO agency formerly known as Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (Trade Mark and Design), which stands for its Spanish name Oficina de Armonización del Mercado Interior (Marcas, Modelos y Dibujos). Since 23 March 2016, the agency changed its name to →European Union Intellectual Property Office, or short →EUIPO.
A Valencian rice dish with ancient roots that originated in its modern form during the mid-19th century. It is often considered Spain’s national dish, but most Spaniards consider it to be a regional Valencian dish.

The tournament will be played at the Ciudad Deportiva de Alicante at Calle Foguerer José Romeu.
This beach is in the city, at the foot of →Santa Bárbara castle and alongside the port and the →Explanada esplanade.It is renowned for the quality of its sand, its palm tree boardwalk and its cafes. This, together with its proximity to the Old Quarter, makes this beach one of Alicante’s most well-known attractions.

Please help us recycle all plastic bottles and paper.
The referee will show a red card to a player (including a substitute player) to communicate that he/she has been sent off. A player who receives a red card will automatically be suspended for one match.
Professional referees from the Federación de Fútbol de la Comunidad Valenciana (FFCV) will lead all matches.
Respect is a key principle in football. Respect for the game, diversity, dignity, players’ health, rules, the referee, opponents and supporters. This is not supposed to be the World Cup. Enjoy the competition while making new friends. One of the five 5 → EUAFT principles.
Alicante’s most famous beach, with sands stretching from the beaches of El Campello right through to Cabo de las Huertas. You can reach it with the →Tram lines, L1 and L3.
The main church of Alicante is dedicated to San Nicolás of Bari, better known as San Nicolás de Myra, who is also the patron of Alicante.
Perched on top of Mount Benacantil, at a height of 166 metres, stands one of Spain’s largest medieval fortresses, providing breath-taking views of Alicante’s perfect bay.The origins of the castle date back to the 9th century when Alicante was ruled by the Moors, of Muslim religion.

Typically, tactical fouls have several characteristics but a key element in all is that the foul interferes with or breaks up what would otherwise be a promising attack. Please abstain from any tactical fouls since they are against one of the →EUAFT principles , namely →Fair Play.

Tiki-taka is a style of play in football characterised by short passing and movement, working the ball through various channels, and maintaining possession.
If you are planning to score with a touchdown, you are playing the wrong kind of football. A touchdown is a means of scoring only in American and Canadian football.
Public transportation of Alicante. It has its main station at Plaza de los →Luceros and runs four different lines, L1 to Benidorm, L2 to Sant Vicent del Raspeig, L3 El Campello and L4 Plaza La Coruña.
Try the turrón of Alicante, it’s a hard turrón variety and has been granted ‘protected geographical status’ (PGI).

Ultras are a type of football fan renowned for ultra-fanatical support, occasionally to the point of violence and hateful chants and slogans.We do not have anything against Ultras, as long as they respect the five →EUAFT principles, especially →Fair Play and →Respect.
There will be a team of volunteers at your disposal for information and support. They will be easy to identify… just look for their orange t-shirts.
Water will be provided during the tournament.
Something we do not want to see, since against one of the →EUAFT principles, namely →Fair Play. The term is used to refer to a dangerous tackle made by a football player.
Old British measure, still often used in football.
The referee will show a yellow card to a player to communicate that he/she has been cautioned. If a player is shown a second yellow card in game, he/she will be shown a red card and will be sent off. A player who cumulates three yellow cards in different matches will automatically be suspended for one match.
Unluckily, Alicante has no zoological garden to entertain children. The best place to entertain children of any age is → Playa Postiguet.
