Training and DevelopmentMany of our products are industry leading and our employees’ talents are essential in helping us maintain our highly successful position.

We offer a comprehensive in-house training programme which is tailored to the trainee programme an individual joins. For example The Euromoney Graduate Editorial Training Scheme is a six month programme that all graduate trainee reporters are enrolled on to. The scheme combines on-the-job training with structured classroom-based learning, and develops skills in reporting, sub-editing and proof-reading, both for online and print, as well as other relevant training for trainee journalists, including libel. Trainees who successfully complete the course are often offered permanent editorial positions.

Other training topics include introduction to financial markets; for sales trainees – negotiation and presentation skills; we also run a management development programme which incorporates courses on recruitment, management training and leadership skills.

Working at Euromoney

We employ over 2,200 people in over 25 cities around the world, including London, New York, Hong Kong and Montreal, putting us at the centre of the key global financial markets.

Our workforce is diverse, reflecting the diversity in our products and the international markets that we serve. More than 90 different languages are spoken by Euromoney employees across the group. We are committed to equal opportunities for all our employees wherever they are located in the world.

We are able to offer fantastic career opportunities for our employees to develop their skills and expand their work experience. Find out more about the work experience some of our colleagues have gained with us during their employment to date by reading their employee profiles which can be found on the following Opportunities pages of this brochure.

GrowthEuromoney’s growth creates excellent opportunities for employees to progress their careers within the Group.

Acquisitions are an important part of our growth strategy, taking us into new sectors and strengthening our existing portfolio of products. In recent years we have acquired several businesses around the world, including the Centre for Investor Education, Euromoney’s first business in Australasia.

Our existing products are ever evolving. In 2012 Metal Bulletin launched Steel First, an online steel news and prices service. Capacity Conferences held its first Myanmar Connect Conference in 2013 and won Best New Geographical Launch at the Conference Awards 2014.

Good Causes Euromoney has donated millions of pounds towards local and international causes. Our donations are comprised of colleague fundraising, contributions from the company’s charitable budget, and generous donations from our clients who are invited to donate at some of our industry events.

We have worked on many fantastic causes that are making a real difference in our employees’ local communities and in other parts of the world. Some of the most inspiring projects that we have supported recently include:

Sustainable water and sanitation projects in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – we have supported AMREF with its sustainable water and sanitation project in Addis Ababa since 2011, providing better access to water, sanitation, and health information for more than 19,000 residents of Kechene.

Little Rock School, Kibera, Nairobi, Kenya – working with Able Child Africa we have helped to fund the cost of land and the construction of new school premises for the Little Rock School. The school was completed in February 2013 and can accommodate 300 full-time students (one third of whom are disabled) and 200 after-school pupils.

Action Against Cancer – £1 million of individual and client contributions has been donated to Action Against Cancer, which funds the development of cures for cancer at Imperial College, London. The funds are being devoted to the development of a new drug aimed at blocking a cancer-causing gene. This project is being undertaken in memory of Padraic Fallon, Euromoney’s former Chairman who lost his battle with cancer in October 2012.

Other causes supported by Euromoney Institutional Investor include: water well projects in Mombasa, Kenya; a residential and life skills centre for single, homeless people living in East London; telecommunications in emergency situations; children’s literacy projects in London; and toy collections in New York City.

Formerly Euroweek, Global Capital is a leading news, opinion and data service for people and institutions using and working in the international capital markets.

Euromoney publishes an extensive, industry-leading, portfolio of financial and business publications. Our vast range of publications, cover a variety of industries including metals, minerals, capital markets, insurance, air finance, infrastructure finance, and many more.

The Role of a JournalistOur journalists are fascinated with financial markets and are always on the look-out for the best stories. They meet with high-profile executives in their industry and represent their publication at industry events, sometimes speaking to a room full of conference delegates. As well as writing for their print publication and website, our journalists are

actively connecting with their readers on social media, moderating Linkedin groups and updating Twitter followers on the latest news.

Euromoney Graduate Editorial Training SchemeOur graduate trainee journalists join Euromoney on a six month training programme. The scheme combines on-the-job training with classroom-based learning to equip participants with all the skills that they need to pursue highly fulfilling careers in financial journalism. Participants work in a newsroom from day one of their training scheme, working alongside some of the best financial journalists in the world. On completion of the training scheme, trainees are offered the opportunity to apply for a permanent reporter role within the group.

What we look forWe welcome intelligent and naturally inquisitive graduates to apply for our graduate journalism positions. A journalist needs to have excellent written and spoken English language skills, and additional language skills are definitely an advantage when reporting on international markets. Deadlines must be adhered to when you’re writing for a publication, so excellent organisational skills and a demonstrable ability to meet deadlines is important. Our journalists need to be personable, and have excellent communication skills so they can confidently meet with industry executives and conference delegates. They also need to be skilled at finding a good story through their comprehensive list of contacts.

Opportunity: Journalism

Provides news, analysis and opinion on the global capital markets. Euromoney Magazine was founded in 1969, in London, and is our flagship publication.

Beth – Senior Reporter, GlobalCapital DerivativesJoined Euromoney: January 2012

I had always envisioned that I would spend my career writing about corner kicks and red cards as a sports journalist; however, I ended up in financial journalism, which after a few weeks working at Euromoney I found was just as cutting edge. Despite not knowing what a barrier reverse convertible, timer option or volatility swap was on my first day, the training and exposure offered by Euromoney allowed me to get up to speed with developments in the financial markets very quickly.

Euromoney offers the best-in-class editorial training and exposure like no other firm—within a few hours of my first day I had already written a story with my very own byline. Six months down the line I was heading to Switzerland to cover events and network with senior market participants. A year later I was chairing conference panels in Singapore. Fifteen months later, at the age of 23, I was moved to New York to lead my publication’s coverage in the Americas.

Euromoney throws you in the deep end, but by doing so allows you to progress at a much faster rate. Travel, education and the opportunity to interview ‘celebrities’ of the financial markets are examples of the perks of working at Euromoney. Furthermore, you will be given a platform to scoop the mainstream media and become the face of your designated market area.

But, one of the most important things to me is the culture, I laugh more times a day than I can count, and I refer to those around me as my friends as opposed to colleagues. If you are driven, hardworking, and have the ambition to become a journalist that is recognized globally for an ability to break news, then Euromoney is the right fit for you.

Katie- News Editor, Latin FinanceJoined Euromoney: September 2009

When I started at EuroWeek in London, the global financial crisis was in its early stages — although that wasn’t exactly apparent at the time. I was thrown into coverage of surging emerging market bond sales and later moved on to focus on European banks as they struggled through the continent’s recession. Capital markets might seem a niche area, but they are closely linked to — indeed, at the heart of — some of the biggest global events.

I had studied journalism and had some experience in business reporting, but financial markets were new to me. From the first week I was covering deals and had a beat to make my own. At the start it certainly seemed more of a learning cliff, than a learning curve, but the team I worked with was incredibly supportive in helping me understand the market dynamics and improving my journalism skills. That on the job tutoring and support was backed up by structured training courses.

The job demanded hard work, initiative, and an ability to learn quickly. But the rewards on offer are great, and go beyond working in an intellectually stimulating role in a team that is committed to good journalism. The company also offers scope for increasing levels of responsibility and a chance to develop a broad range of skills, including some that you might not immediately think of when journalism comes to mind, such as public speaking. The global nature of the company also offers opportunities — one that I took up when I moved to the US in 2013 to work for another publication in the group, LatinFinance.

Based in New York City, II provides in-depth coverage of the people and events impacting on the world’s economies and capital markets.

A premium intelligence service for metals and steel professionals covering all global metals and steel markets.

Created in 2014 through the merger of Project Finance and Infrastructure Journal, IJGlobal provides information on the global infrastructure market through its website, magazine and global events.

The leading source of value-added financial markets intelligence for Latin America and the Caribbean. LatinFinance is published from New York and Miami.

Opportunity: Conference Production and Logistics

We produce thousands of international conferences and events each year. Our outstanding event programmes and speakers attract industry professionals from around the world and provide excellent networking opportunities, making our events the ‘must attend’ events of the conference calendar. Key-note speakers at our events have included Bill Clinton, Tony Blair and Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

The Role of a Conference ProducerConference Producers set the agenda for our conferences. They research themes and discussion points that are important for industry professionals and secure high-profile speakers. An excellent conference programme ensures that our events cannot be missed. Like journalists,

our conference producers build a comprehensive network of contacts and deal directly with business people, journalists, academics and politicians. Also known as Seminar Manager or Conference Manager.

The Role of a Logistics ManagerOur logistics teams ensure that everything that our conferences require are in the right places at the right times. They source the venues, arrange event catering, event literature, equipment, and manage the delegate registration process. Many of our events are sponsored and the logistics team is responsible for ensuring that all sponsorship branding contracts are fulfilled as well as exhibitor branding. Also known as Registration Coordinator, Course Manager, or Logistics Executive.

What we look forOur conferences are held in destinations all around the world so it is essential that you are available to travel internationally several times each year. Our events teams are ambassadors for Euromoney – we look for confident individuals who are comfortable leading teams during an event and meeting with leading industry professionals. Our conference teams work hard and it is essential that they are prepared to work long hours and roll their sleeves up to ensure that our events exceed the expectations of our delegates and sponsors.

Marsha – Program Director, Institutional Investor Forums Joined Euromoney: November 2011

Having come from an eclectic past (working on the trading floor of a large French investment bank, teaching English on a remote tropical island, and interning with the World Policy Journal), I came to Institutional Investor with an interest in weaving together an array of skill sets: business, journalism and education. I felt that a trainee position in the Sponsored Conferences division would be a great way to bring focus to those interests.

From the get-go the job was—and continues to be—very multi-faceted, which is one of the reasons I like it so much. It is academic and intellectual, requiring a high level of analytical thinking and industry knowledge. It is also very client-focused which I enjoy. We are always

meeting new people as we gather market data and produce our conferences. The best part is traveling all over the United States (and occasionally the world) and working with overseas colleagues to execute events. No day is ever the same!

Since joining the firm as a Graduate Trainee three years ago, I have had many opportunities to grow and take on new and challenging roles. I have a unique opportunity to oversee the inner workings of the group and help to grow the business. It has been an exciting and rewarding experience to be part of a rapidly expanding business within the company.

Natasha – General Manager, Euromoney Enterprise Innovation UnitJoined Euromoney: September 2007

I was keen to establish a career for myself in the fast-paced world of financial publishing. I immediately found myself managing my own projects and events, responsible for writing cutting-edge programmes, inviting speakers and, working closely with the rest of the event team, coordinating marketing and sales as well as managing costs and budgets.

I relished the opportunity to research the opinions of industry leaders in a broad field of capital markets and banking. The individual responsibility afforded to me was challenging and sometimes daunting, but never overwhelming thanks to the strong support network within the business. From managing director to my peers, no door was closed to me and there was a

sounding board for ideas which applied to individuals at all levels.

Since starting as a graduate, I moved up quickly within my division seizing the opportunities to develop skills in product development, people management, interviewing and hiring, budgeting, marketing, social media, business development...the list goes on. I have launched a number of new products, managed a broader portfolio of events, run a team of eight conference producers and had responsibility for a significant revenue stream. It’s six and a half years later now and I’m enjoying a new role running a new business unit; the Enterprise Innovation Unit. The Enterprise Innovation Unit poses a whole new challenge and opportunity building new information and conference businesses from the ground up.

I hope, my career so far at one of the largest financial publishing groups globally exemplifies the potential for any hard working, enthusiastic graduate. There are always opportunities available to progress and expand. For me, my appetite for new challenges and desire to learn has invariably been satisfied.

Opportunity: Research

Our research division provides research and data that helps institutional clients make informed decisions and forecasts about both developed and emerging markets. Our research brands are renowned for the quality of their data products.

The Role of a ResearcherOur research teams are constantly monitoring quantitative and qualitative information and are naturally inquisitive. They are networked and are expected to have excellent contacts in industry, government, and media, so they are well informed and up to date on the markets they cover. Often the research that our researchers publish is quoted by major news agencies, including CNBC, BBC, and Wall Street Journal.

What we look forResearch demands excellent analytical skills, so we look for people who have either a professional or academic background in researching. Database and Excel skills are essential when dealing with high volumes of information and our researchers certainly know their way around a spreadsheet. It’s not all information gathering – researchers also write the published reports and speak at our conferences, so excellent written and spoken English is essential. Additional language skills are also a real asset when researching overseas markets.

Bassam – Associate Editor, BCA ResearchJoined Euromoney: November 2008

The financial world was in an exciting, if not tumultuous state back in 2008. I was a newly minted finance graduate looking for my first job in an environment where large investment banks were going belly up and markets were tumbling. A once-in-a-generation economic crisis was a truly testing time to be entering the field!

Luckily I landed a starting analyst position with BCA Research, the most venerable macroeconomic investment research firm in the world. Working at BCA means merging academia and practitioning in order to generate topnotch investment analysis and reports. It also entails being exposed on a daily basis to some of the sharpest minds in the industry,

whether it be within the firm or while interacting with clients. To top it all off, the wide selection of investment publications offered allows you to challenge yourself in new areas and to produce research on the markets you are most passionate about.

Nearly 6 years on and having moved up within the research group, I have had the rare opportunity to cover everything from European equities to global asset allocation to foreign exchange markets. Crucially, my desire to remain a lifelong student of the finance profession and of markets is constantly satiated by working at BCA Research.

Keval – Metals Analyst, Metal Bulletin ResearchJoined Euromoney: June 2013

I joined the Metal Bulletin Group’s Research (MBR) team fresh out of university, where I had earned a Bachelors in Economics and a Masters in Journalism. I joined as a graduate metals analyst/economist. The primary task of a commodity market analyst/economist is to explain why metals markets are moving in the way they are, and using those insights to form a view of how you expect them to move in the future. MBR is a leading independent authority in providing analysis and forecasts to the metals/mining market, making our research available via both paid subscription and bespoke products and services.

I thought I had a solid understanding of commodities and international trade, but during my first month in the job I quickly realised the huge amount I could learn about the global metals/mining industry. However at Euromoney, the management are quick to ensure that they support your development with a steep learning curve designed around a series of both formal and informal tutorials and discussions on the core aspects of commodity price developments, forecasting and analysis of supply/demand fundamentals. Analysts are nurtured to develop strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as gaining direct industry exposure from being able to attend and present conference papers at various global industry conferences/events.

Given Metal Bulletin’s global client base you can be certain that international travel is a valuable source of learning about the metal/mining markets, as well as the perfect vehicle to further develop strong commercial awareness and acumen. Whether it is a bauxite mine in Indonesia or a steel scrap conference in New Orleans, the travel opportunities are exciting and stimulating, and I am actively encouraged to take up opportunities to go to relevant events, or where potential business opportunities may take me.

The most rewarding experience for a graduate is realising that they have successfully negotiated the journey from trainee to professional within the field of commodities. This happened for me during a conference in New York, where my presentation on the future movement of market prices was received positively by many international producers and traders, leading to new business being generated from customers subscribing to our regular and bespoke research products.

If you have an interest in working within the metals/mining sector I would positively recommend a career path that the Metal Bulletin Group can offer.

Opportunity: Marketing

Euromoney has over seven million customers in 180 countries, representing more than thirty business communities. Reaching a customer base of this scale requires a sizeable marketing operation. Our marketing teams are spread across the globe and are playing an integral part in our innovation programmes by spearheading our utilization of digital mediums, particularly social media, to better serve our customers.

The role of a MarketerMarketers are passionate about products and are creative people. They implement our marketing campaigns, which include email campaigns, promotional material, and representing their products at industry events. Our marketers are always seeking out new ways to reach their customers and have been integral in our integration of digital communication tools. Marketing is a very varied job - marketers work with a wide-range of people, from journalists and conference producers, to sales teams and design teams.

What we look forCommunication is an important skill when marketing products, so it is really important that our marketers have excellent written and spoken English language skills. Marketers are project managers and are highly organized people working to strict deadlines. They are driven to achieve their key performance indicators (KPIs) and are keen to work with various teams to get the job done. Sometimes the marketing teams will represent their product at industry events, including some of our own, so a willingness to be pro-active and network is essential.

Claudia – Senior Marketing Executive, GlobalCapital GroupJoined Euromoney: October 2011

I joined Euromoney in October 2011 as a Marketing Graduate Trainee. After finishing my Masters degree in Marketing & Communications here in the UK and coming from Mexico I decided to look for an opportunity within a multicultural company where I could develop professionally.

During the 6 months of the graduate scheme I was given responsibilities from implementing and executing the marketing plan, developing analytical and reporting skills to establishing good communication with both internal and external client for two of the most important Euromoney publications: EuroWeek and Metal Bulletin.

After two and a half years, I now hold a senior role looking after three publications in the GlobalCapital group. I have attended conferences in London, Brussels and Barcelona, and participated in different activities like the annual sports day and the BUPA

10km race supporting one of Euromoney’s charities, AMREF.

Alex - Senior Marketing Executive, GlobalCapital Group Joined Euromoney: May 2013

I’ve been working in Euromoney’s central marketing department for just over a year and three months. Starting in the London Office, as a marketing executive, I worked on both subscription and event marketing which proved an interesting mix, as the strategies for each are quite different. Although this was an exciting focus, towards the end of my first year I was given the amazing opportunity to move across to the Hong Kong office to start a brand new position.

I have been in Hong Kong for three months now, working as a senior marketing executive and the entire experience has been incredible. Not only do I get to live in a brand new city, with a really interesting culture, half way around the world but the position itself has been a lot of fun. I now look after the Asia Pacific marketing for a brand new global product. Because the position involves such a variety of responsibilities, focusing on growing Asia subscriptions, organising deals with media partners and working closely with both sales and editorial to better target this new market, it’s always interesting.

At first I had obvious concerns about moving so far from home. But the transition has actually been no trouble at all. The Hong Kong office is really easy to settle into and both the UK and Hong Kong teams provided great support during the move. For a

company that offers amazing opportunities as well as experiences Euromoney is a great choice.

Opportunity: Business Development

Our business development opportunities offer very generous incentive schemes and excellent opportunities for career progression. Many of our senior business development employees have progressed from Telesales Executives to Sales Management roles. In some areas of our business, they are given the opportunity to be considered for overseas postings.

Working in business development Our sales teams are ambitious. They work hard to exceed their sales targets and are generously rewarded for their efforts. Business development roles vary across the group with many entry-level positions starting in telesales and progressing through the group. For

many of our sales teams, international travel is a part of the job where they network with existing and potential clients at industry events and visit key customers.

What we look forBusiness development demands excellent interpersonal skills. We look for confident people to sell our products. They are professional in their manner and appearance, and are very driven to achieve their targets. Sales people are skilled in identifying opportunities to sell products to new and existing clients, and developing excellent relationships with key customers.

Rachael - Sales Administrator, International Telecoms WeekJoined Euromoney: August 2012

I joined Euromoney in August 2012 and was instantly thrown into helping the Capacity Media team organise ITW (International Telecoms Week), the world’s largest annual event for the wholesale telecoms industry. To say it was a learning curve is an understatement but with such a dedicated and hardworking team to support and guide me through the process it turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. Fast forward two years and I have now helped deliver two world-class events that have exceeded expectation and received some of the most positive feedback to date.

As Sales Administrator I have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the event from start to finish so my responsibilities vary from managing key accounts and logging contracts to designing marketing collateral to promote the event. I’ve even travelled to Chicago, Amsterdam and Dubai, meeting some incredible and inspirational people along the way. A highlight has to be shaking hands with our 2013 keynote speaker Vice President Al Gore, and at ITW 2014 I met Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the Inventor of the World Wide Web. Another memorable moment was launching an annual charity fun run which attracted 200 runners and raised an astounding $15,000, and I’m now part of a Charity Committee that oversees fundraising across the whole of Euromoney. Whilst organising ITW can be challenging at times and requires absolute dedication, with the diverse range of opportunities available to

me and the best team I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with, I can honestly say that I love my job.

Opportunity: Finance

Each business has its own mini finance team. This allows for the finance team to become more closely involved with the businesses they are assigned to. They are responsible for a wide variety of accounting work, preparing management accounts, providing business analysis, and risk management.

Working in FinanceWe offer excellent opportunities for progression within Finance. All permanent finance employees are offered study packages to help them with studying for either an ACCA, CIMA or AAT qualification. They will gain very valuable work experience whilst studying. Our study package includes financial support and study leave. There are

plenty of opportunities for finance employees to progress within the company.

What we look forThere are a variety of finance roles including entry-level, part-qualified and qualified. Many finance employees are assigned specific businesses that they work closely with, therefore we look for very effective communicators, who have excellent numeracy skills and competency with finance systems and Microsoft Excel. Ambition is really important for anyone that is keen to progress their finance career with the company. Team members who are keen to take on additional work to put their professional studies into practice really excel within the company.

Tom – Business Analyst, FinanceJoined Euromoney: September 2010

I joined Euromoney in 2010 with an accounting and finance degree, looking for a career as an accountant. The first thing I noticed was the amount of responsibility you are given from your first day. To start with it can be intimidating as it is a completely different environment from life at university! However, support from line managers and colleagues is not hard to find and I quickly settled in. One of the things that attracted me to Euromoney was the great study package.

Employees studying towards becoming qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) are entitled to 5 days off per exam to prepare which is very rare in industry accounting. Not only this, but due to the size of the finance department, there are lots of people in the same position which makes the task seem much less daunting as you are able to motivate each other and learn from your peers who are already qualified.

In my role as a management accountant I have had some great exposure and opportunities. We have monthly meetings with the directors of the businesses, IT managers, sales and marketing staff. I have also had the chance to attend and represent finance at a live event in Chicago, prepared statutory accounts for external auditors and conducted my own internal audits for management. The variety of work keeps things both challenging and rewarding.

Be under no illusions. The Euromoney finance department is a high pressured place to work with little room for error. However, if it’s a fast paced career that you’re after and a place where you can build a foundation for your accountancy experience then Euromoney really is a great place to do so.

Opportunity: Technology

We have significantly invested in our corporate and digital infrastructure in recent years in order to improve internal processes and the experiences that our customers have when using our products. New products, applications, and a new authoring platform have all contributed toward expanding our product portfolio and benefiting our customers.

Working in TechnologyOur technology team is large and diverse. It includes internal support teams, development teams, business analysts and project teams. The technology teams are based across the globe and have a significant presence in London, New York and Hong Kong. Our transition from a primarily print media group to a producer of digital products has created many exciting opportunities for our technology teams.

What we look for Our technology team consists of a vast range of highly-skilled people. We look for people who have proven ability in specific areas of information technology and who are driven to create outstanding solutions for both our business and our customers. Problem-solving skills are essential and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of internal customers is essential – you could find you’re liaising with anyone within the business and your approach should be adaptable.

Finding a job opportunity

Your application

• Always submit your application with a covering letter. Use your cover letter to explain why you are applying for the position and how your skills make you a suitable candidate.

• Tailor your application to the job that you are applying for. If a hiring manager isn’t required to read between the lines it will improve your chances of being selected for an interview.

After your application has been submitted

• We receive a high number of applications for our roles and it isn’t always possible to respond to applicants that haven’t been successful at the initial review stage.

• Don’t be disheartened if you haven’t received a response. Each hiring manager is looking for something different.

• Your application will be kept on file for six months and we may contact you about other job opportunities during that six month period.

We recruit throughout the year and all of our positions are for an immediate start.
