Another A109 Elite is operated on the same AOC and a Caravan 208,” adds Margeti. Lastly, its membership in the EU means that jets registered here have freedom of movement within the other constituent states. This, coupled with its residency laws, makes it the perfect base for non-EU buyers to register their aircraft, and Hawker Beechcraft expects a growing number of non-EU citizens to take advantage of Malta’s unique proposition for business travellers.” Hawker Beechcraft announced three orders for Hawker 4000 jets at the recent EBACE show. SX-VIP’s crew pose with the aircraft at Athens International Airport.

GainJet Aviation continues to developits vip Boeing fleet with the additionof a 60-seat 737 corporate airliner, appropriately registered SX-VIP.

It is the company’s second Boeing737 and will operate alongside the established 48-seat variant, which GainJet says has been popularamong sports teams, rock bands, governments, and other largepassenger groups.

Captain James McBride, ceo, explains: “Our first 737 was acommercial success from thebeginning and there has been moredemand than initially forecast. Atcertain times in 2011 we were unableto accommodate some requests dueto the aircraft being unavailable.Although with 60 seats, this aircraftaims for a different market, the twoaircraft complement each other. Wewill base SX-VIP in the London areafor the initial phase of introduction to the fleet, while testing other

markets to see the best commercialhome base for the aircraft.”

McBride explains: “Ours is a partof the industry that is unique. Nomatter what aircraft is being flown, everything has to be perfect for thepassengers. Our major challenge iswhen we are dealing with largegroups of vips and we have to ensurethat everything is meticulously

prepared and delivered. It takes thecombined effort of professionalteams that can only be gained byyears of experience and continuousimprovement.

“Although highly technical, ourindustry is very much about peopleand personalities. Sometimesaeroplanes attract nicknames givento them by their crews and theengineers,” he adds. “In this case, they are already talkingenthusiastically about their new‘SeXy VIP’ which bodes well for the future!”

The 737 has been refurbished in2012 and features leather recliningseats and a baggage hold which canaccommodate up to five tonnes ofbaggage. The six-hour flight rangemakes it ideal for large groups ofpassengers in need of a mediumrange vip aircraft, says GainJet. It alsohas airstairs for operations to remotedestinations.

The company has specialisedsince 1989 in the efficient movementof aircraft all around the world, including kit planes, piston singles, warbirds, piston twins and floatplanes, right up to business jets andtransport aircraft. Its Grand Caravanis based at Ronaldsway airport, and isused for charter flights throughoutthe UK, Europe and beyond. “TheXP42A upgrade package is a welcomeimprovement to our Grand Caravan,”says md Martin Courage. “Theinstallation’s enhanced performancewill make the 208B a more reliableand efficient aircraft for ourcustomers and also yield strongerrevenues that will justify ourinvestment for the long term.”

“It is entirely appropriate that thismilestone upgrade is an XP42Apackage for Aerodynamics,” saysBlackhawk ceo Jim Allmon. “We offerexceptionally productive, high value-added performance systems that areclearly worth the investment.”

The XP42A upgrade features afactory-new PT6A-42A engine with850 continuous shaft horsepower, and a 1,000-hour, no-calendar-limitmanufacturer warranty. The systemalso features a wide-chord, 100-inchdiameter Hartzell four-bladepropeller; composite cowling andhigh efficiency inlet duct; 40 per centlarger oil cooler; four-point enginemount ring assembly and enginemount isolators; engine hose kit;Hawkeye DigiLog engine gauges; and

Frakes exhaust stacks. The system effectively doubles the

standard climb rate for the Cessna208B, says Blackhawk. Cruise speedalso increases by up to 15 per cent, and both take-off performance andsafety margins increase whileoperating costs are reduced.

Fifteen XP42A systems have beeninstalled to date, including one forthe Centre Ecole ParachutismeSportif (CEPS) de l’Ariège in south-eastern France, and another atSkydive Dubai.

CEPS operates two aircraft at itsskydiving centre, and is benefitingfrom the improved climb rate andlower fuel consumption. “TheBlackhawk Caravan has greatlyincreased our flight productivity,”says CEPS president Franck Buisson.

Skydive Dubai flies from a privateairstrip near the base of the PalmJumeira development. “Our upgradedCaravan is an outstanding performereven in Dubai’s extremely hotclimate,” reports the company’sHeath Haley.

Specialists in environmental surveysby air, APEM has launched a pilotcadet training programme designedto take 100-hour PPL recruits andturn them into fully commerciallyqualified crew with a frozen ATPL.

The company employs over 120scientists and over the past sevenyears has greatly expanded its aerialsurvey capabilities, concentrating ondeveloping in-house surveyexpertise. The fleet now consists offive specially modified aircraft: threeVulcanair P68s, a Britten NormanIslander, and a Cessna 172SP. Anestablished team of six full-timesurvey pilots is supported by severalpart-time pool pilots.

The cadetships are expected tolast between 18 months and twoyears, during which time the cadetswill be paid APEM employees. Theywill be trained to work in groundoperations and as on-board cameratechnicians, but will spendapproximately 20 per cent of theirtime in pilot training. The companywill pay for the cadet scheme, including all pilot training, examination and hour building, withthe qualified pilots bonded for threeyears after completing their training.Once operational, they will then jointhe full-time salaried pilot staff andfly the full range of survey activitiesundertaken by the firm.

The pilot cadet scheme follows onfrom APEM’s long-standing graduatetraining programme for aquaticscientists, which has seen over 50graduates join the company andbegin their careers in marine andfreshwater biology. The company

philosophy is that by investing in newand enthusiastic staff, the rewards arevaried and numerous, not least inproviding bespoke trainingspecifically designed for the type ofwork undertaken by the company.Staff retention is also improved in thatpeople appreciate that the companyvalues the skills they develop.

APEM director Dr Stuart Cloughsays: “Putting something back into

our industry to invest in the scientistsand pilots of the future is somethingwe are extremely proud of at APEM –after all the skills of our staff are whatwe sell. “Graduates of the cadetscheme will not only becomecompetent, experienced commercialpilots, but they will also develop alevel of skill and knowledge in thefield of remote sensing unrivalledoutside APEM,” he adds.

Why choose London Biggin Hill Airport for your Olympic aviation requirements?

BOOK YOUR OLYMPIC SLOTS NOW:

Almost two thirds of helicopter pilots and more than half of business jet pilotsconsider their flying to be ‘very stimulatingand varied’. So says a survey by air charteronline booking company PrivateFly.com,which found that job satisfaction amongthese two groups runs well ahead of theircommercial airline peers.

This should come as no surprise, asbusiness aviation is by definition much morevaried and unpredictable than flying the line. Pilots typically have to take onresponsibilities far beyond simply flying theaircraft, and this makes the job moreinteresting and fulfilling.

So much so, in fact, that they are oftenprepared to accept employment with a lowerfinancial package. The survey reveals that for

pilots of similar age and experience theairlines pay more in basic salary, but alsoprovide many more benefits. Just a quarter ofbusiness aviation pilots receive a companypension plan, while over half of airline pilotsdo. Only 12 per cent took advantage of acompany share plan, compared with 22 percent of airline pilots.

In fact, over a third of those flying inbusiness aviation said they receive nocompany benefits at all.

So at first glance air charter operators andcorporate flight departments seem to havethe best of both worlds, with contented aircrews prepared to accept lower salaries.

But wait... the survey has a twist in the tail.It seems that airline pilots, withcomparatively lower levels of operational

control, were the most likely to want to savethe company money.

Indeed business jet pilots were among theleast likely of all working crew to choose

commercial awareness as a top three quality. This is despite their greater spending anddecision-making power, such as in decidingwhere to buy fuel.

This may indicate that business jetoperators, whose margins are tightening inan increasingly competitive market, could beasking more of its pilots in terms ofimproving the bottom line.

Crews are certainly resourceful enough tomake a difference, as witnessed by the traveltips provided to PrivateFly.com’s survey, which included ‘laying a wet swimmingcostume in a dry towel, rolling and twisting to get most of the water out’, and ‘take toilet paper!’

Danish air charter operator JoinJet isconfidently investing in its futuredevelopment by ordering a Hawker4000 and a Hawker 400XPR, and alsosigning up for high-speed data accesson these and its existing Hawker800XPR and 800XP.

Kristoffer Sundberg, generalmanager of JoinJet, says: “We wantedto purchase a segment-leadingaircraft with unmatched technologywithout having to sacrifice efficiency,so we are delighted to confirm thepurchase of the Hawker 400XPR.With its greater range, increasedperformance and state-of-the-arttechnology – integrated withoutstanding payload flexibility and value – we are sure the 400XPRwill prove an invaluable addition toour fleet.”

Hawker Beechcraft anticipatescertification of the 400XPR inSeptember 2012 and JoinJet’s aircraftis due to be delivered in the firstquarter of 2013.

The Hawker 400XPR upgradecombines the increased power of theFJ44-4A-32 engines with the superioraerodynamics of winglets. It offersgreatly improved range and airfieldperformance while reducing noisefootprint and emissions.

“JoinJet has been so pleased withthe performance and operating costs

Commenting on the choice of theHawker 4000 Niels Sundberg, JoinJetceo, says: “We have been in theaviation market for more than 30years and after a thorough evaluationit was natural for us to select theHawker 4000.

“With its carbon-fibre compositetechnology, superior cabin comfortand low operating economics, theHawker 4000 provides the valueproposition we and our charterclients require.”

The Hawker 4000 will meetgrowing demand for charter servicesfrom business owners across theEurope, Middle East and Africaregions, says JoinJet. It is the flagshipof the Hawker line, with a compositefuselage and 3,280 nautical mile non-stop range.

Sundberg adds: “We have chosento add the in-flight entertainmentoptions, including the iPad solution,to our entire fleet to further enhancethe customer experience andcontinue to be a market leader in thecharter business.”

The Nordic region is an area whereHawker Beechcraft has beenparticularly successful in recentyears, with the company currentlyholding a 26 per cent market share ofthe business aircraft population inwhich it competes. Denmark inparticular is an important market, with the country seeing the thirdhighest overall aircraft sales in Europeover the last three years. Over thatperiod the number of business jetsregistered in Denmark increased by13 per cent.

JoinJet is part of the Danish airlineSun-Air of Scandinavia A/S that hasoperated regional scheduled flightsfrom Denmark since 1978. It has 30years’ experience of charteroperations as well as being anindependent aircraft broker, withadditional expertise in maintenanceand operations.

“And what a fantastic result forChelsea and stunning finish to thematch. Didier Drogba winning thegame, with literally his last ever kickas a Chelsea player, wasextraordinary. As you can imagine, there were lots of happy passengersflying back to London with us.

“Ultimately, we flew a diverse fleetof 15 aircraft to the general aviationairport of Oberpfaffenhofen for thematch, which represented over halfour entire business jet charter fleet. Infact, our entire available charter fleetwas flying over the ChampionsLeague final weekend, which goes toprove business aviation really is inhigh demand again and fighting backafter the recession.”

Concierge Aviation has added aneight-seat Hawker 750 to its managedfleet and is offering the aircraft forcharter from Biggin Hill.

The Kemble-based operatorcontinues to fly its Learjet 40XR fromhome base, but reports that the firstweeks of operation of the Hawkerhave been busy. “We see thisexpansion as a key stage in ourdevelopment,” says md Glen Smith, formerly with Air Partner at BigginHill. “It presents the opportunity forus to demonstrate our service qualityin the mid-size market from a Londonbase. The Hawker 750 combinesrange and speed with a true stand-upcabin, offering our clients a far widerrange of non-stop destinations. Theclassic cabin configuration of fiveindividual seats and a three-seatdivan is more spacious than manyother aircraft in this class.

“There is a strong charter marketat Biggin Hill, well supported by

extensive aircraft maintenancefacilities for most types in currentuse. We are pleased to become a partof this growing community,” he adds.

Concierge Aviation launched AOCoperations in September last yearwith the Learjet 40XR and, despite themarket conditions, has seen an

excellent level of interest in thisaircraft. Smith adds, “On the whole, the charter market remains verycompetitive, but we will not under-sell our aircraft. We are contracted tomanage the aircraft on behalf of theowners. We look after their long-terminterests which includes maximisingreturn per hour and maintaining theresidual value of their asset. We havedeliberately focused on servicedelivery as we see an opportunity inthe market, particularly in the lightand mid-size sector. Some would callthis approach ‘old school’ but we arereceiving enquiries from clients who are looking for exactly this typeof operation.”

Chief pilot Bryan Treadgoldexpressed his belief in the Conciergeethos: “We will grow at a rate wherewe can control our service and standby our assurance of quality – overpromising and under delivering is notan option.”

Polish-based business air carrier Blue Jet recently took a factorydemonstrator Learjet 60XR aircraft onits first ever tour of Poland.

“The business charter industry inPoland is much less developedcompared not only with westernEurope or Russia but even with theCzech Republic,” says head of salesand marketing Grzegorz Wydmanski.“There are a few dozen Polishcustomers using this type of servicebut the number of people who canafford this kind of transportation isfive to eight times higher. So the tourhad at least two goals – to educateand to sell.

“We chose Warsaw, Krakow (andKatowice which is very close),Wroclaw, Poznan and Gdanskairports to present the aircraft, andinvited Ferrari Poland to demonstrateits cars as well.”

The tour comprised privateviewings: “I don’t think it is a secretthat there are a few prospectivecustomers highly interested in buyingthe Learjet after this tour. They are myprospects as well – if they buy theLearjet or other aircraft then Blue Jetwill help them to manage, maintainand charter (if they would like to putthe aircraft into commercial usage).Ferrari Poland gained new contacts aswell, as they have their showroomonly in Warsaw. There are severaladditional customers who are myprospect on charters. I believe mostof them I will convert to chartercustomers to increase the aviationbusiness in Poland.”

Blue Jet manages seven aircraft: aGlobal 5000, two Challenger 300, aCitation XLS, a Premier One, a CJ2,and has just registered a Legacy 600which it is in process of putting it intocommercial usage. Last year thecompany flew more than 4,200charter hours and says it is alwayslooking for new businessopportunities. “We plan to expandour fleet by the end of this year withadditional aircraft for managementand charter,” adds Wydmanski.

A second EC225 helicopter forpower line inspection has beendelivered to Airtelis, the wholly-owned subsidiary of France’s RTEpublic utility company.

To date, the company has loggeda combined total of more than250,000 flight hours – an equivalentof nearly 30 years of uninterruptedhelicopter flight – mainly onsurveillance, maintenance andconstruction work on high and very high voltage power lines.

As with Airtelis’ initial EC225, itssecond helicopter will be equippedwith an innovative new systemenabling the pilot to control a slingused to deploy electrical cablesduring flight.

The EC225 is capable of carryingexternal loads, including a waterbucket for firefighting duties using aremovable tank, installed in thecargo compartment, with a watercapacity of 4,000 litres.

This system was developedespecially for Airtelis, and isintegrated in the helicopter’s cabin.

It enables the helicopter to carryloads that have contact with land orwater, with their orientation

maintained steady beneath theaircraft within a pre-specified cone-shaped deployment zone. The

system is said to guarantee thehighest safety levels for Class-Csling operations.

operator Bel Air Aviation is a greatcheerleader for the AW139, havingrecently put two into service inoffshore configuration. “They haveexcellent performance, are flexible inconfiguration and comply with thelatest EASA requirements. Themanufacturer is open to newsolutions from the customer,” shereports.

Another respondent to our survey, using the AW139 for medicalmissions, has more mixed opinions. He is very happy with the operatingcapabilities in very hard conditionswith ice and turbulence, but feels letdown by parts support and, in

system, while others wouldappreciate more fuel capacity.

The best upgrade for SwanAviation would be the step up from S-76C++ to S-76D, or the Agusta A139,says Hocaoglu. He adds that hebelieves new EASA regulations, aswell as domestic restrictive regulationin Turkey, are killing the edge that thehelicopters have against fixed wing.

EBAN also received feedbackabout the larger Sikorsky S-92,praised for its capacity and range, albeit at a high price.

the Grand and the Grand New now dowhat it says on the tin.”

Critics of the A109 have concernsabout its capacity, reporting that it isnot always possible to carry a full fuelload. Also tailboom cracks andgenerator issues; cabin volume andmaintenance costs are singled out for attention.

“It offers outstanding value formoney when compared with theEC135 or the MD 902,” says George.“It would be great if it cost even less!”

For one operator the mostdesirable upgrade is simple: “I wouldchange our Grand for a Grand New.”

BELL 412

In service for over 30 years now, theBell 412 is the four-bladedevelopment of the model 212. Itslarge cabin can accommodate up to14 passengers.

There are around 370 in operationin 18 countries across Europe and theMiddle East.

The Bell 412 is extremely popularin the United Arab Emirates, whereAbu Dhabi Aviation, the Dubai AirWing and Falcon Aviation Serviceshave sizeable fleets.

Among a mixed fleet, ThomasMuensterer of HDM, a part ofGerman emergency operation DRF,uses HP and EP variants for inter-hospital transfer of intensive carepatients, for emergency rescueoperations and to transportphysicians and equipment, in dayand night operations. He considersthe 412 to be a reliable helicopter, butis currently very unhappy withmaintenance support after waitingfor parts for some six months.

Some feedback was also receivedon other Bell models, and spare partsavailability problems were a commontheme. The best attribute of the Bell230 is reported to be its wide cabin, while the Bell 427 is seen as goodvalue for money.

EUROCOPTER AS365 AND AS355

Flying for over 40 years, the AS365series has been continuouslydeveloped, and carried on today inthe form of the N3 version and theEC155. There are 340 in servicearound Europe and the Middle East, and the type is most prevalent in Italy,France (where Heli-Union has thelargest fleet at 28) and the UK.

Surprisingly, given the number ofaircraft, we received little feedbackfrom operators in our survey.

The same was the case for theAS355 Twin Squirrel, which is ahelicopter well suited to operations inthe UK it seems, as there are well over40 owner/operators there.

inside, and has easy access.”But the power and available

“This is a great step forward in our capabilities at Stansted,” commented Kate Bayes, Harrods Aviationmd. “The engineering support we can now provide will complement the services already on offer with our helicopter management and charter company, Air Harrods.”

Harrods adds support for the EC155

particular, “a large problem with tailrotor blades.” Tailboom and rotorproblems are also cited by ChrisTamerius Antrobus of Swiss-Jet, whohas both short and long-nose variantsand praises the spacy cabin.

EUROCOPTER EC145

There are now over 130 EC145helicopters in service around Europeand the Middle East, the greatmajority in government, ambulanceor police service. The largestpopulations are in France andGermany, but the model has madeinroads to the east with a variety ofoperators in Russia and Ukraine too.

The manufacturer is keen toemphasise the EC145’s high in-service time due to the low level ofscheduled maintenance required, butthe best aspects according to ourreaders are the avionics suite andauto pilot, in addition to the spaciouscabin. One reports satisfaction withthe maintenance support available, but says that some modification isneeded for the heating of the cabin.

There is general satisfaction withperformance as well, although “forhot and high conditions you still haveperformance difficulties on take offs.”

Negative comments related tomaintenance costs and a mastmoment problem, especially onunprepared areas to land/take offs. Agreater choice of seat coverings, colours and interior options would beappreciated too. ■

At the gateway to easternEurope, Czech operators reportrising demand for air charter

With a generally stable economy, theCzech Republic was seeing a slowrecovery from the effects of the2008/9 recession. However, with itseconomic reliance on manufac-turing for export, particularlyautomotive, it has since slipped backinto recession.

A diverse business aircraft fleet isshowing a transition in progressfrom eastern European aircraft tomore modern, longer range modelssuch as the Citation Sovereign andLegacy 650. Even so, the mostnumerous type throughout thecountry remains the domestically-produced Let 410.

With bases at Prague Ruzyneairport and in Slovakia at Bratislava,ABS Jets is a key player on the CEEbusiness aviation market. It reportsgood growth so far this year andrecently added a Phenom 300 to itsmanaged fleet, the first aircraft of itstype to be registered in the CzechRepublic.

Comparing its executive handlingresults from the first quarter of 2011with first quarter results this yearshows a 30 per cent increase in theprovision of services at its Ruzyneheadquarters. A key factor was arecord-breaking March for thecompany, that showed a 28 per centincrease compared to the same timelast year.

“The opening of ABS Jets hangar Nlast year, combined with thepurchase of additional handlingequipment and an increased numberof handling agents, has allowed us tosignificantly enhance our operationsand deliver more improved servicesto our customers,” says ground opsdirector Jan Kralik.

ABS Jets currently operates fromtwo of four hangars at Ruzyneterminal 3. These facilities haveestablished ABS Jets as the largestexecutive jet handling provider inPrague and such services form afundamental part of the company’sbusiness plan.

Commercial director AntoniaTomkova adds: “We set up a newmarketing strategy for the promotionof executive handling and we arehappy that these activities haveevolved into such positive economicresults and that the number

of customers has increased sodramatically.”

He says: “It is difficult to mark anyflight as unusual in our company.Almost every second flight has itsunique unusual aspects. Generally, Ican say that some flights, such as avisit to Yakutsk in the winter period, might be quite a challenge. Ourambulance flights often take us to theAfrican continent which could makethe daily routine a bit adventurousthese days.”

Karhanek concurs that thebanking crisis in Europe has affectedthe company’s business: “The pricesquoted and even prices of flightsoperated were pushed down by thecrisis to almost the cost of operation. We were also forced to focus ourbusiness on the eastern market muchmore than we did before.”

As a small company, Silesia Airrelies on each team member for itssmooth operation. Karhanekexplains: “The environment ofbusiness aviation has become socomplex that no part of the companycould exist without the rest. I rely onan experienced team of postholderswho try to keep the company runningsmoothly: Captain Jiri Bohacik inmatters of flight; Captain Jiri Bradnain ground operations; Milan Janik formaintenance; Captain DaliborKramer for safety; and OndrejSchaumann for quality.” Even chefJan Klika in the catering departmentgets a special mention for his part inmaking sure passengers enjoy theirflight to the full.

The main future target for SilesiaAir, not only for the rest of the 2012, isto keep to its trend of steady growth.“The question of effectiveness is thekey, so I try to consider everyimportant decision in that view.”

Smaller models make up themajority of Slovakia’s mixedbusiness aircraft fleet, that rangesfrom PZL Swidnik helicopters to aFalcon 2000. With Slovakia’s HighTatra mountains forming thehighest range of the Carpathians, the country is a popular skiingdestination and nearby Poprad-Tatry airport is the focus of arrivalsfor the winter season holidaymakers.

Air Transport Europe has a longhistory of providing a diverse range offlights for leisure, air ambulance,survey/surveillance, filming, aerialworks, fire services, logging andconstruction.

In its fleet are 10 Agusta A109 K2, aMil Mi-8, Eurocopter AS355 and aCitation 560 Encore.

Located at the foot of the highestmountains in the country, manyflights for ATE are challenging. In2011 alone, the company carried out1,398 HEMS missions, logging 91,892flight minutes. “The number of flighthours per aircraft increases from yearto year, though we have to take intoaccount the location of the HEMSbase,” explains business managerEmília Vargová. “The bases located inthe vicinity of the mountains performmore primary missions, those in thecities mostly secondary missions.”

ATE has EMS bases at Poprad-Tatry, Kosice, Bratislava, BanskaBystrica, Nitra, Trencin and Zilina.

A Citation 560 Encore acquired lastyear is used for medical andcommercial vip flights. “Our team isable to switch the aircraft interior in about 90 minutes,” says Vargová.“Our crews and clients includingpatients are very satisfied with its performance.”

With the provision of HEMS at itscore, to an extent ATE’s businessremained unaffected by theeconomic crisis. “On other areas wewere definitely affected, as ourcompany is also a service centre andrepair base (for Mil and Agustahelicopters), so we have experiencedfewer requirements for repairs andoverhauls of aircraft. The number ofdeliveries of spare parts has also beendecreasing,” says Vargová.

Continuous staff training is onearea ATE plans to turn its focus to forthe remainder of 2012. Additionally, says Vargová: “Our effort is alsoconcentrated on becoming part ofinternational assistance serviceorganisations providing wide rangingservices to patients in need, repatriations flights, transplantation

programmes, etc.”Based at Bratislava’s MR Stefanik

airport, Flight Service wasestablished in 1996 with the aim ofoffering services for helicopter andaircraft flights, purchase and salemediation.

Despite the world crises, thehelicopter business in Slovakia isgrowing rapidly, managing directorIgor Susko reports. “Our clients, fromprivate and business sectors, aregetting more and more used to hiringhelicopter services and even buyinghelicopters for themselves.”

Specialising in the monitoring ofelectrical power grids and gaspipelines, as well as geologicalsurveys, Flight Services works acrossall of Slovakia and abroad.

“With these growing numbers ofhelicopter users and workpossibilities, we are starting to lookfor a new economic partner whocould help us to cover all the projectpossibilities that are happening inour country and bring our companyto the next level,” says Susko.

Aelis Group offers aircraft trading, leasing and aviation consultingservices in central Europe, with keymarkets in the private aviation andregional commercial aircraft areas.

“We cover every aspect of theprocess of selling or buying anaircraft, from the sourcing of offersand compilation of sales documentsto the conclusion of actual sales, delivery and payment,” sayspresident and ceo Philippe Lienard.“Aelis may also buy aircraft for its ownportfolio and lease them out on anoperating lease.”

Looking at the current issues thatmost impact the business, Lienardsays that, as operators aim to improvethe efficiency of their services, fleetsneed to be restructured. “Aelisbecame a favourite partner foroperators to dispose of their usedaircraft and introduce replacementaircraft. We also work with Slovakoperators to provide customisedservices, such as insuranceagreements and aircraft financingadvisory.” The development ofhelicopter operations in Slovakia hasbeen of major interest to Aelis whichoffers added value services to clientsin sourcing and putting helicoptersinto operation.

Aelis Group successfullydelivered a Eurocopter EC130B4 toa South African client in April 2012,marking the 121st transactionrecorded by all Aelis team membersover the years.
