OBJECTIVES

- Analize the possibilities of LAMS for a prospective use within Virtual Campus.

1. Analize the possibilities of LAMS for the design of reusable learning units in Higher Education.

2. Analize the integration of LAMS and MOODLE for use in Virtual Campus.

METHODOLOGY

- Introduction: How the group was formed:- Seminar- Background of lecturers

- Instalation of LAMS 2.0 (http://lamsserver.uca.es/lams)

- 8 University Lecturers: different areas (Science, Humanities, Education…)

- Basic training- Designing sequences for university students- Group Interview

GROUP INTERVIEW

- Planning aspects of a lesson

- Previewing lessons

- Visual overview

- Standardized template

RESULTS

- Planning aspects of a lesson:

- Positive aspects

- LAMS help to comprehensively structure university lessons (+)

- To reflect and sequence work (+)

- Global vision of sequences (+)

- Simplicity (+)

- Intuitive +)

RESULTS

- Planning aspects of a lesson:

- Negative aspects

- Linearity (-)

- Branching: only one way to continue the sequence (versión 2.1, LiveEdit?)

- Need to integrate some type of element to define the stage of the design of the sequence (finished, in process,…) (-)

- Labels to indicate the stage of the process (-)

RESULTS

- Visual and graphic interface:

- Intuitive

- Easy to use

- Icons and colours: facilitate choice

RESULTS

- Reusability:

- Highly valued

- Exchange between lecturers: accesible

- It allows redesign of units by a third party

ADVANTAGES

- Intuitive visual design

- Easy to design learning units

- Easy to supervise students’ performance

- Unit reusability

- Integration with other applications

- LiveEdit will facilitate live design and changes of units already finished.

CONCLUSIONS: LIMITATIONS

- Assessment: not integrated with MOODLE.

- Lack of integration of different sequences to design a new one

- Linearity

- No branching

- Simultaneous design by different lecturers
