Action principles

Action should be aimed at ensuring an optimal energy balance by stimulating a healthier diet and physical activity through a portfolio of interventions designed to change the social, economic and physical environment.

Action should be taken at the overall policy level and in different settings

Policy tools range from legislation to public/private partnerships, with particular importance attached to regulatory measures.
