From the Desk of the principalI would like to take this opportunity to welcome each and everyone one of you back for what

will be a very productive school year. I am pleased that we accomplished those goals that weidentified at the beginning of last school year. First of which was to offer the students of the Eustiscommunity the best middle school educational experience possible. Secondly, that we again achievethe ‘A” status which is most deserving for this school and community. I congratulate our students,teachers, staff, and all stakeholders who worked extremely hard to meet these goals.

Nonetheless, our work is not finished. We have expanded our campus with the addition of anew two story wing and we will be adding new science components to our robust science curriculumin the continuing effort to offer the best to the students of Eustis. I am excited about what the nextschool year has to offer, and I am ready for the challenges. A MATTER OF SAFETYEustis Middle School is very concerned about the safety of every child.

Supervision is available on our campus beginning at 8:30 a.m. each morning. Ifyou must drop your child off before 8:30, we ask that you enroll your child inthe Early Morning Care Program held in our cafeteria, beginning at 7:30a.m. August 10, 2006.

The fee is $10 a week for the first child in the family plus an additional$5 for every additional child from each family.

The school resource officer will be available to assist you in findingthe cafeteria and with enrollment.

PARENT DROP-OFF & PICK-UPMORNING:· Arrive between 8:30 and 8:50 a.m. Classes begin promptly at 8:50 a.m.· Enter the lot and stay to the right, moving to the area in front of the 2nd (600) building. Pull as far forward

as possible in the yellow loading zone before allowing your child to exit the car.· Have lunch money, signatures, and other supplies ready before you enter the lot.· Deliver these instructions to other drivers who may transport your children.

AFTERNOON:· As you enter the campus, turn to the left around the outside of the parking spaces. Drive down the middle

row. Turn left underneath the Eustis Middle School sign to proceed to the pick-up area. Cones will directyour path.

· Pull as far forward in to the yellow loading zone before stopping to load children.· Tell your children to be in the loading area as soon as possible, and to watch for your car.· Students will not be allowed to cross traffic to enter a parked car, even with an adult. This slows

traffic and puts pedestrians and drivers at risk of injury.If your child is not waiting in the loading zone, pull forward to the front of the line. A staff member

will assist you.

ACHIEVEMENT INMIDDLE EDUCATIONIn order for students to receive a FAME Award at

the end of the school year, they must: maintain at leasta 3.5 grade point average for each of the first three nine-week grading periods and have no grade lower than a“B” except in Algebra Honors/Geometry Honors.Because of the difficulty of the eighth grade AlgebraHonors/Geometry Honors classes, a “C” in that classonly will still qualify a student for a FAME Award.

HONOR ROLLIn order to qualify for Honor Roll status, studentsmust earn at least 18 points (3.0) each nine weekswith no grades below a “B.”

grade level.4. Guardianship – If you have a student living

with you other than your own child, you musthave legal documents or a notarizedstatement from the parents.
