How did you attract/address your audience?

I have included names of actual alternative/indie bands and artists. This will attract my audience as they will most likely be big fans of these artists, and will want to read stories on them.

The guide to the best gigs in Britain will attract my audience, since they are the type of people who love to go to gigs. Also, this will specifically attract British audiences, since they will want to know the best places to go where they live. As my target audience are most likely students, this would attract them, as they would not have the money to travel to gigs all over the World.

The top 10 albums feature will attract my target audience, as they love music and are likely to buy albu ms. Therefore they would find this guide useful.

The title will attract my audience as it not only tells them the magazine is about alternative music (their favourite genre), but it also refers to a piece of musical equipment, and my target audience would recognise this as they are likely to play music themselves.

The festival feature will attract my target audience, as they are young people who love going to festivals. So they will find this article interesting, attracting them to buy the magazine.

The red white and black colour scheme will attract my target audience as it is eye-catching, as well as making the magazine look sophisticated. This will attract my audience as they are conscious of their image and would not want to be seen reading a magazine which looked childish.

Similarly to my cover, I have also included names of alternative/indie artists on my contents page. This will attract my target audience as they will most likely be fans of the artists, and consequently, will want to read stories about them.

The images I have used will attract my target audience as all are music related (festivals, artists with instruments, live gig). This will attract my target audience as they love all things music, so they will be interested.

The layout will attract my target audience as it is separated into sections, making it easy to locate stories within the magazine.

The review section will attract my target audience since they are avid listeners to alternative music, and will be interested to here what is considered the best.

The subscribe feature will also attract my target audience, since they are most likely to be students so they will be busy, so it would be more convenient for them to get it delivered. This is a common feature in music magazines such as Kerrang! And NME

The large pull quote will make my audience want to read the interview to find out what she “can’t believe”.

The distressed, artistic font will attract my target audience, as it reflects the indie genre of music, as well as making the article look interesting and creative.

The fact box will attract readers as it gives them brief information about the artist, perfect for if they do not know that much about them. This will attract my audience as they love indie music and are always wanting to discover new artists, this feature gives them a head start.

The images I have used in my double page spread will attract my target audience, as the artist is a similar age to my target audience, allowing them to identify and relate to her. This makes them want to read the article more.

The ‘New Album Lowdown’ feature will attract my target audience, as they love alternative music and are likely to buy albums. Therefore they would find this feature useful.

Likewise, the advert for Hayley Hodson’s new album will also attract my target audience, as they love listening to alternative music and are likely to be interested in buying it.
