Evaluation of prelim shot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ5pR9_7ohA Our group had a task involving filming and editing. This project took 3 weeks to complete. By the plot an actor A enters a room through a door where an actor B already waits him/her. Then they exchange a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate our skills in setting the mis-en-scene, ability to set up a tripot and camera and finally our skiils in filming different types of shots.

Our group had a task involving filming and editing. This project took 3 weeks to complete.By the plot an actor A enters a room through a door where an actor B already waits him/her. Then they exchange a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate our skills in setting the mis-en-scene, ability to set up a tripot and camera and finally our skiils in filming different types of shots.

WIDE SHOTThis shot shows

the subjects in their environment or context.

It establishes where characters are. We used this type of shot at the beginning of the sequence to give the audience an idea of setting characters are in.

Firstly we took a couple of these shoots but we forgot about the most important part in setting the camera- focus. So we did this scene again. This took more time than we expected however we dealt with this problem in common.

CLOSE UP SHOTAn image that

shows a fairly small part of the scene, such as character’s face and neck. It abstracts subject from the context

The image is shot at eye-level, so that the camera and the subject are on the same level. this creates a feeling that the viewer is equal to the subject.

OVER THE SHOULDER SHOTThis shot of

someone taken from the perspective or camera angle from the shoulder of another person.

Shooting a conversation over the shoulder allows both characters to remain in the scene.

We needed this shot because it’s very common when two characters are having a discussion and also it helps the audience to place the characters in their setting.

CLOSE UP SHOTClose up shots

show head and shoulders usually. The subject fills most of the screen and the audience can see the great deal of detail in his/her face.

This is a good shot for showing emotions and creating a strong feeling of intimacy with the subject

Overall I believe we did well in our prelim work and it allowed us to practise and prepare for the next bigger and harder task. I think, that all what we’ve used and all skills we’ve learned during this work will be useful for our future

work and final film.
