Production Log

I recorded and edited my advert on a software called reaper. Throughout the editing process I used various techniques to make my advert sound as professional as possible and get it to the best strandard I could. Initially, it was difficult for the actual recordings to sound perfect as I used my class mates as recording artists so nobody had any experience and we were all new to this type of project. After recording my advert several times to get the script, tones of voice and timing all correct I pieced it together and began to edit it by including the sound effects, music track and other techiques such as adjusting volume and pitch of voices.

The most useful technique I used was the fading in and out of the voice recordings, sound effects and music. It let the noise fade out naturally instead of cutting from one thing to another which helped raise the professional standard of my advert. You can see where I have used the fading technique in my advert by looking for the red lines at the beginning or ends of the bars.

I used the volume/pan adjustment to control the volume of each individual recording to ensure they all had the same noise levels and were also loud enough to be heard clearly. This came in use to me as I recorded some of my script separately according to which class mates were free and at what times before I could put it all together; this way the noise levels were equal.

One other technique I used was the volume wave to make certain parts of speech louder to stand out more. I applied this on my advert when there was whispering to make sure it was still heard although it was quieter.
