1. In what ways does your media product use,

develop or challenge forms and conventions of real

media products?

Page 2: Evaluation q1

CoverMasthead: It follows

conventions as it is placed in the top third of the page but is not in the left hand-corner. The masthead also does not have a box surrounding it.

Sub-lines: My cover lines have extra information underneath them called sub-lines. These give extra info on the cover line story.

Colour Scheme: The colours I selected fit in with my dark, grungy theme. I used different shades of purple and used black and white to

stand out against them.

Images: I have used a main cover image of a

male artist and 2 smaller images of

female artists so that the magazine has a

mixture of both genders.

Cover-lines: I have used cover lines to

annotate all my images as well as 2 others on

the cover. The main images’ cover line is the biggest and the

main article inside. This sticks to conventions as

there are lots of cover lines used.

Dateline & Barcode: I have

included an issue date/number, a website

address, magazine price and a barcode.

ContentsMasthead: I have

made the word contents big and bold in the top third of the page. I also surrounded the masthead in a box to made it more striking and added the magazine’s logo in the top right corner to help make the magazine recognizable.

Images: I have used 3 images, all of different sizes. These all represent articles inside the magazine.

Colour Scheme: I have stuck to my theme on my cover but added the colour pink to make the page slightly different for readers and to make text stand out.

Dateline: I made sure I added a date and magazine issue

number under the masthead.

Page Numbers: I used

page numbers next to the magazine

features to make it easier for readers to

navigate through the magazine.

Features: My features consist of other articles that

are included in the magazine and give

readers a contents of what to look for. The

images also link to the features as they have page numbers

written on them.

Double-Page SpreadMasthead & Sub-line:

My article’s title is the artists name which is surrounded in a box to make it eye-catching. It included a sub-line underneath it that outlines a quote from the featured artist. I have also added the magazine logo and a ‘featured’ heading so readers know which section they are reading.

Images: I have made my images side-by-side so that their background blend into each other and it looks like there are 2 of the artist. This develops conventions as this is not the usual layout of an article.

By-line: I used a by-line under my images to tell readers who the article and images were created by.

Article: I split the article into 2 columns framing the images. I surrounded them with a black box to keep the text from blending in with the background. This sticks to conventions by keeping articles in neat columns on the double-page spread.

Colour Scheme: I have kept my colour scheme dark and grungy but used different colours such as dark teal and brown. I kept the colours black and white as they stand out.
